1.
quote:
Originally posted by David Aitken: Ah, so this is the lame joke thread now? Why did the chicken cross the road? Because it knew that because of the undermodelling of machineguns in CM, it could run across open ground while the enemy blazed away at it and it wouldn't get a scratch. Tread Head was having none of it, however, and jumped on his bicycle with a carboard skirt attached to the stabilisers with tank tracks painted on it, and pedalled furiously down the road to crush the chicken before it reached safety and was able to close-assault his troops. To late he remembered that CM doesn't model infantry being crushed by vehicles either, so the chicken suffered nothing but a morale hit. While Tread Head sat in the middle of the road considering the situation, BTS reached CMBB alpha 3 and enabled Extreme FOW, causing his own troops to misidentify him as a Finnish bicycle commando and go for broke with their new more effective machineguns. Within seconds Tread Head and his PanzerKampfFahrrad were reduced to a small, soggy pile of bone splinters, muscle tissue, intestines, metal dust and cardboard strips. Satisfied with the results, BTS elected to rename CM2 Combat Mission: Tread Head Is A Witless Ninny in his honour.

Yes, thank-you Mr Dave. (everyone clap) Hey, how did you know my Grand-Dad was a Finn?
2.
quote:
Originally posted by Stuka: Sorry Dead Head, the unfunny git thread is over on the main forum. Kindly Sod Off Theres a good chap.

Stuka? Maybe you might consider 'Fokker' Some might say you act like a 'Fokker' at times...... BTW are you Dutch?
3. WORLD WAR ONE But still funny.... A German guard is talking to a Russian prisoner-of-war. 'Kaiser Wilhelm is a great man. He visits the front once a week.''Our Tsar Nicholas is even greater. He stands on a spot 20 miles behind the lines, and every week the front goes to meet him!'
4. A Jew and his secretary were sitting in a coffeehouse in Berlin in 1935. The Jew was reading the Nazi anti-Semetic paper, Der Sturmer. The secretary said, 'how can you, a Jew, read such a Nazi libel sheet?' The Jew said, 'when I used to read the Jewish papers, all I learned about were pogroms, riots in Palestine, and assimilation in America. But now that I read Der Sturmer I see so much more: that the Jews control all the banks, that we dominate in the arts, and that we're on the verge of taking over the entire world. You know, it makes me feel a whole lot better.' [ 09-17-2001: Message edited by: Tread Head ]
5. I got a dirty dozen Scenario, made to play as the Ami vrs. the AI, if you let him play the Germans he should win.... They have a lot of junk.... Email me if you want the zip
6. An Englishman in a locked compartment on a train without a toilet asks his American seat-companion's permission to relieve himself on a spread newspaper, which he then folds up and flings out the window. The American, who cannot avoid watching the entire procedure, lights up a long black cigar to cover some of the fecal odor. "I say!" says the Englishman, "you know, this isn't a smoking compartment!"
7. When my 20mm get killed it seems to always be by those evil .50 cals. Yep, more then once a .50 cal jeep has taken out my 20mm sweetheart.
8. Well, As a German player (most of the time) I spend a few extra bucks and get the 20mm on the halftrack. I place it in areas with long LOS where enemy soft targets will be passing through. I also make sure I have secondary firing positions ready and hidden routes to get to them. Once I open up on the enemy I only stay there for a couple of turns or maybe three. I then beat feet to that second sweet spot. You can't believe the number of indirect fire missions that have fallen right where my Sd Kfs 7/1 was sitting only a half a turn before. Secret is to shoot and move.
9. I have finished my Dirty Dozen Scenario. It is based on the classic 60's movie. Need some experenced play testers. (Small 12 turn) Pretty hard Play and post suggestions, try not to give to much away though. Email me if you what the zip. ltbarkly@hotmail.com Thanks. [ 09-11-2001: Message edited by: Tread Head ]
10. Can you lock a scenario so it can't be tinkered with or no? If not, it should be included in CM2 as a opition. (JMO)
11. During my time with my favorite uncle I eye-witnessed what the 8 inch can do. They have phased them all out of active duty now but in the early 90's they were still around. (SP) We were sitting in our tanks at "Graff" when the projos flew over head. They impacted around 3000 m or so away and I could feel it in my chest. I watched a old target M-60 flip and do summersaults when the round hit near it like it was a toy.
12. How do I make the AI agressive without making them to strong? I want them to come accross a bridge and they won't....
13. Thanks for the quick reply. I am using a NVIDA or whatever its called with the newest update, (so the IP games work) Is there a way to tweak the system? I have plenty of power and space on this system to spare. (My wife uses it to do the bills, i use it for CM only.) (newest biggest fastest personal Compaq outthere 1.2 gig speed, 256 or so Ram 7200 speed 40 gig HD, the upgraded 3d and video card, and upgraded sound card)
14. I want to blow a Large complex of buildings up after the game begins around turn 5. I thought of putting a couple of Navy 14' FO's on a nearby hill or just putting them into the complex and let them call for fire on thier heads. I will then put instructions in to only use them for the destruction of that complex. Is their a better way to do this?
15. I undrstand what TRP's are and how they increase your responce time and hitting. I also know you can't move a unit from set-up you want to use with the TRP. So, how do you trigger the TRP? Do you simply order the unit to fire with a click on or near the TRP (because it won't tell you the mouse is over a TRP) or do the units automaticly use the TRP's? Ex: You have a morter that is out of LOS of a TRP and you want to use the TRP. Do you manualy target the morter to the TRP "area" which will be out of LOS and area fire.... or what? I served in a M1 for 7 years I now the value of TRP's and range cards, knowing where all the dead space and possible fighting positons for a attacking unit is a powerful tool. If I know a big dead tree out there to my 1 o' clock is exactly 600 meters away before the battle, it makes it a lot easier to light up "Ivan" when he hides behind it during the battle with my 50 cal. Also If I know the Grid coords of a dead space area to my fighting position it sure makes it easy to call in the red-legs. Is this how TRP's work? [ 09-08-2001: Message edited by: Tread Head ]
16. I am kinda a new guy so if these ?'s are silly forgive me. 1. In order to post a JPG. the JPG. must already been online some where right? So if I wanted to post a CM screen shot I would first have to post it at a webpage somewhere and then use that address to post it? 2. I have a new "Super" computer. My wife bought it. Speed is great but sometimes it seems like my graphics are lacking. When I see other peoples screen-shots they look more defined and sharper then what I see in a typical screen-shot of CM for me. It is not a MOD issue, I have all new MODs for my units. I was thinking more along Resolution. How do I increase the screen 'res' on CM? Thanks....
17.
quote:
Originally posted by Hon John Howard MP LLB: [QB] Actually it was the British who developed and deployed the only "artifical moonlight" systems. QB]

I guess you did not read my post.... Sorry Chap, read your history. The idea was not English... They were the first to use it on the battlefield though.
18. I was thinking the second monday in the first week of April......
19.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: Americans????? Canadians and British first used Artificial Moonlight, if my memory serves, unless they borrowed it from the Yanks. In any event, it wasn't just Mr. G.I.

Well, I think it was pre-war Germany that thought the "Moonlight" thing up...... Remember the Olympic games opening in Berlin?
20. Too bad, I played that battle once where one of my Stugs took out 4 Ami tanks then his gun was damaged. I backed him to saftey and brought in the other two....
21. Historical all the way..... at least pair off forces that may of met in one of the thousands of unrecorded tiny battles.....
22. Hey, we all must of played the Demo 50 million times, those two Sen. must have the most games played on them of any Sena. I bet there are some cool, funny, amazzzing stories and AAR out there. Ex: In the Valley I once had over 275 kills with my Pill MG. I put it between the first two tall buildings facing the road. I covered its back with a check in the church (He killed 3 Shermans). The silly AI kept on sending men over that wall and to those small buildings. EX: I once maxed out the AI in the vally with men. When my Pather rolled out 5 simo richos! I fast moved him into the dead space at the backside of the big hill to get out of those crosshairs. You should of seen the massive Smoke Arty that came down next. I was smoked out just about for the rest of the game. He brought 4 Shermans into the smoke with me. Our tanks were only feet away in there (reminded me of Star-Trk "The Wrath of Khan") He got me but I killed 3 of his before he killed my main gun. So I blitz out of there and into a firestorm of 76 mm shells at the town side of the hill (coup de grace)! [ 09-04-2001: Message edited by: Tread Head ]
23. I was playing a Sm night IP game the other night and I withdrew a Plt. of Volks with a HMG and Arty spotter when the got jumped by a Plt or 2 of grunts, a Sherman and a halftrack. Only thing was I was close to a side Map edge and those wimps exited the Map! I fought on but you can guess the results.... Why? I had them W back and away from the side?
24. Will CM2 incorperate arty flares? [ 09-02-2001: Message edited by: Tread Head ]
