  1. no, no, no! Tanks should respawn at your flags, and whoever is closest, gets to use the tank. Surely the tanks should have a crew of one, plus a machinegunner who keeps jumping on and off the turret... Don't forget the bullet-proof jeeps and the bazookas that can't kill a gopher.
  2. the BEST way to unbog a tank is to use a tank of equal or greater size to push it from the behind. Unbogs in seconds and does not allow immobilization to occur.
  3. but be sure to play the demo at least 10 times that way you'll be sure you like this game, just like I did
  4. Frankly, the whole eastern front is like the Kursk. If it wasn't for Stalin giving the orders "not to provoke the germans" and for Zhukov being such an incompetent general we wouldn't have 40 million dead. We would have a communist europe.... but that's another question.
  5. still waiting for winter camouflage infantry mods....
  6. 1980s cold war is the best choice... most of the technology form that era is known and the engine rewrite will make it possible
  7. The PPSh was the only one in rarity. There was enough of the MMGs, LMGs and HMGs. The PPSh was underrated before and at the start of the war, but the front-line experience quickly fixed that up. EDIT: Evidence is here, in Russian, saying how rare the PPSh were http://moscowbattle.narod.ru/weapons/ppsh.html [ December 28, 2002, 11:14 PM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  8. I don't believe it... can you give me some sources please?
  9. So when Germans came to Stalingrad, all the AA guns were simply abandoned? [ November 13, 2002, 09:18 PM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  10. ok, so none of the AA guns were used for antitank roles? they weren't used in defensive setups? when german tanks advanced, there weren't any? This book has the following: translated: The guns certainly weren't used by standard companies, but it is certain that they were used with direct aimed fire on tanks or anything that was german... anything that shoots was used.
  11. I wouldn't call the Soviet AA guns little used.... every piece of soviet machinery was mass-produced by the thousands so from all this I conclude that BTS was too lazy to make a model, or what? They included the Sturmtiger which was "mass-produced" only to 18 machines, but the AA guns which were produced to 10671 units is replaced by a german model....... my brain is going to blow
  12. those are completely different guns with completely different shapes... yet they have the exact same model I'm DEEPLY confused. [ November 13, 2002, 08:00 PM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  13. I pulled up a scenario in CMBB, the only scenario with Russian AA guns. The gun was listed as 85mm, genuinely Soviet, but the model seemed surprisingly German. With my own eyes I see a model of an 88 with a darker paint and a Soviet owner. Something is wrong. I remember from the old history books and one or two WW2 sims(IL2 Sturmovik) that the gun was not plagiarized by us or germans. For confirmation, I turned to Google and came here. The photos on the above site didn't look anything like this. (fullsize) So here I am with a dilemma... are those guns captured and mislabeled, or is my computer playing tricks on me?
  14. Why not Korea or Vietnam? Or how about a fictional USSR vs NATO in the 1985? Or the Gulf War? I'd surely love to see a T80 kill an Abrams in CM2
  15. that's what I thought too. But now we can smoke the AI too, and it won't complain
  16. it was pre-planned because it started firing right away a 120mm mortar rounds on the first turn of the battle.
  17. no, the question was if smoke-screens were pre-planned during ww2? if weren't, then it's a bug.
  18. Well, I'm playing an operation and I got my IS-2 overlooking the field. A panther shows up and kaboom, it's knocked out. After a second the german arty puts up a smokescreen right around my precious IS-2 and a tiger slips by and annihilates my halftracks. So the question is: Is it really realistic to pre-plan a smokescreen? Is there historical evidence or record of this?
  19. One stupid Russian sergeant said that "the best anti-tank weapon is a tank"... When playing as Russians you should try getting 3 tank platoons going at a possible enemy position. One platoon goes head-on. Th other is somewhere on a hill watching out for an unexpected appearance from anywhere. The third platoon flanks the enemy position from an unspottable path. Infantry should be used for spotting with the first platoon.... After the action starts, it's all about luck... any of the three platoons could score a kill, but most likely it will be a flanking one. Try it out...
  20. черный! черный! черный! черный! черный! черный! черный! черный! That means black in russian 8 times (choose correct encoding=>Win1251). Do I have to speak my other language to get the text to be black?
