  1. No, I run it from windows explorer. I also do not have any Cygwin directories in my PATH. MS Visual Studio also gives the same illegal instruction error for the updater exe
  2. My login has administrative rights. The fix from Microsoft's website applies to SP1a, but I have SP2. Since I have cygwin on my PC, I decited to go further: The zlib in DropTeam's dir is 1.1.3.1 I tried to get zlib 1.1.4 from the same guys, the same error. The zlib 1.2.3 package does not have the same zlib.dll file. My CPU is an Athlon Thunderbird 1.2 GHz OC'd to 1.33 GHz. Regarding DropTeam.exe not running: Go Cygwin!!!  I have Software DEP enabled, if that's any use. Hope this helps.
  3. DropTeam exits with I still have the original 0.9.40 release. I did not update it because I could not. This is the DropTeamUpdate.log file: is as far as the updater gets before it crashes. WinXP SP2 Geforce 3 Ti 200 Latest ForceWare I have Cygwin installed on my system. Could that affect the updater?
  4. The DShK should perform better than the US .50 Cal. DShK ammo is 12.7x108mm, while the .50BMG is 12.7x99mm. Think of it as an automatic anti-tank rifle. [ September 28, 2003, 10:30 PM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  5. Crazy Idea: Make a blank CD with the filenames "CMBB Installer.exe" and "Combat Mission.exe" or whatever they're exactly called and insert that cd. I doubt that CMBB checks for volume names, rather, it checks for exe file names. DISCLAIMER: This might result in a wasted CD and a disappointment

  7. in that case, you can use "Doroga k Belomu" as a translation to "The Road to Beliy"
  8. sorry to nitpick but what do you want the title to say? In Russian "White Road" -> "Belaya Doroga" or use "Belaya Road". again, sorry to nitpick
  9. can you say CMBB rendered documentary?? [ July 18, 2003, 02:53 PM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  10. Yup, Ogon(Îãîíü)! I guess the convention is from the old times when cannons were shot with a torch igniting the powder.
  11. Are you sure about that? I remember reading a thread a while ago where a member ran some tests regarding this. I think the results were once a tank is immobilised due to bogging, the game engine sets it on permanently immobilised, despite pushing it out of the area. </font>
  12. My 833 Mhz Celeron and a sucky GF2 GTS can handle it, but with sparse tree coverage and no doodads
  13. I remember doing a test in CMBO where two Shermans were pushing another immobile Sherman around (two only because the tank was awkwardly turned, one would suffice). A three tank company that can only go one way The same is for CMBB. I even remember seeing a T-34 push a bogged T-26 out of the way and instantly unbogging it. After that I used T-34s to unbog other T-34s with ease. Try it, it will surely work. PS: Yes, that would be unrealistic, as a lighter recovery vehicle would be used to unbog a tank, but it is absent from the game. The ability of a tank to unbog an equal or lesser tank simulates this 'recovery vehicle'. [ June 25, 2003, 07:21 PM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  14. if there is one tank of equal or greater size available, you can push the bogged tanks out and unbog them.
  15. aww maan, if they were used so much, then it's a damn shame they weren't featured in CMBO
  16. if the M16s were used as AAAs, then are there any cases of them being used direct-fire?
  17. Wasn't this beast designed to be a Triple-A vehicle? And why wasn't it used on the western front after Normandy as a AAA? Or was it? (pardon my laziness)
  18. It's called Cyrillic, my name is just spelled differently because of the passport bureaucracy in ex-USSR
  19. The police he was talking about was "NKVD". People's Commisariat of Internal Affairs. Thne it became KGB, now it is FSB. Basically then the NKVD was a political/ideological cleaner. Their job was to find traitors/cowards/capitalists and do the necessary work. PS: Man, I wanted to read the 'unprintable' about the officers, any chance of my enlightenment? (I already suspect what words he was using ) [ May 31, 2003, 08:35 AM: Message edited by: Kirill S. ]
  20. do you have a target ref point near the infantry? a TRP significantly improves gun accuracy in addition to mortar and spotter accuracy. when a gun is targeted near a TRP, it will show a 'boresighted' message
  21. it's encrypted, and proprietary. but there is a program called 'mapping mission', which can create terrain outside (sort of) CMBB.
  22. uninstall all old java versions, there might be library conflicts, and check your PATH, make sure only the newst java is in your path
  23. during the finnish war, the finnish 'millionaire' bunkers (million marks to build) withstood at least 5 hits of 230mm arty....
