  1. Here's a thread from over at the EA forums discussing faster server browsing. Also a mod is told that connecting through Steam isn't working. http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc/932557-tip-faster-server-browsing.html Just got the game today, haven't tried MP yet, how bad is the server browser? I remember BF2 had a horribly sluggish browser, was hoping it was better this time round. Also I keep getting crashes while reloading a save. It usually happens after about 2-3 reloads. All the more motivation to stay alive and not die and crash.
  2. Sounds like something is crossing up between your monitor and graphics card. I'd try playing around with different resolutions, refresh rates, and new drivers. I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Service Pack 2 and have had no problems with both of those demos.
  3. Is it just me or is it funny watching old farts pretend their young again by calling each other "Dude"? Besides, there's only one dude, and it's of course Jeff Bridges as "The Dude" in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYsw0KVRjCM.
  4. Nonsense. Time spent eating a meatball sub is time lost from eating meat lovers pizza.
  5. Btw, for what it's worth, awhile back I started a opponent finder group on Steam for hooking up to play CMx1/CMx2 games. Nobody really joined as I never posted about it, except I think in some obscure thread. For anybody interested here it is: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/battlefrontgamers
  6. I haven't bought BFBC2 yet but I'm pretty sure Steam is not used, not yet anyway. EA has their own buddy system for hooking up with friends and gaming. Edit: Spoke to soon, just booted up Steam and there it is. I have a Pvt_Function in my friends list so it should work Elmar. He's not in the Peng group though. Nonetheless, I'm gonna be buying the game probably tomorrow. So I'll come butcher you all shortly. I'm still in the Peng group as well, same name as here, MeatEtr.
  7. Gotta agree with this, no matter which order they're released or how close together they're released, I'll not buy Afghanistan, NATO is a maybe, and CMN is a definite. As BF has always said, they don't care about initial release sales figures, it's about long term sales overall. I think the main reason why they wouldn't release two games close together is more for logistical reasons and not fear of competitive sales. Now I will say this, if BF surprises us all and gives CMSF the big QB update in NATO. Well then NATO becomes a definite purchase.
  8. Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 was just released last Thursday. They were giving away free copies last week off their facebook page. I tried, no luck, not sure if their still doing it though. This game is from the same guys who made the great East Front tank sim "Steel Fury". I haven't seen any reviews for it yet either, but the demo is out: http://www.filefront.com/15611511/Achtung-Panzer-Kharkov-1943-Demo/ Be forewarned though, the manual is in PDF and you will certainly need it. I haven't had the time to dive into yet. Just tinkered with it a little bit, but definitely like what I see. This game certainly has great potential.
  9. Imagine waking up one day and seeing a monster tank sitting in your next door neighbor's driveway.
  10. Care to elaborate there Mr. Paper Tiger? Come on dude, spill the beans, Steve said it was ok.
  11. Not sure about that, but Steve did confirm this is the intro music for CMN.
  12. Just finished playing Dead Space last night. Wow, this is one helluva sci-fi horror game. Best way to describe it is to blend the movies "The Thing", "Alien", and "Event Horizon" and out comes Dead Space. If you like any of these movies then you outta try this game out. "The Thing" from 1982 is one of my all time fav movies and it's great to see a game released in 2008 pay homage to it. (remember the decapitated head with spider legs?) hehe  IGN video review
  13. Hey it's Steve's first post since Feb. 11th. Ok so where's the big CMN update? Hurry please, everybody's getting loopy around here.
  14. Good lord how long they been working on SoW, at least 5 yrs by now? First they said like only 4 playable planes then 6, then 8, and I think now it's up to 12. I think it's about time they say enough is enough and get the damn sim out.
  15. Because the decision was made at a time when they had to worry about or concentrate on getting the core game done. I assume things like an Op and a good QB system had to be put aside or scrapped due to time constraints. Surely it was much easier and less time consuming to go with the current single-mission-string campaign, rather than tackling a CMx1 Op-like update for CMSF. I also vaguely somewhat recall Steve mentioning something about how the new engine draws the terrain. That it would be extremely difficult to get battlefield craters/wrecks to carryover. So I'm sure technical issues influenced the decision as well. In a nutshell, I consider the current CMx2 campaign system a poor man's Op.
  16. I think they underestimate the koolness and yes, success of CMx1 Ops. Much like how they misread the "no cherry picking" in QBs debate. One of the very first things people complained about in CMSF campaigns, although it is minor, was that no craters or wrecks carry over to the next battle. Since as it is now, it's just single scenarios strung together on clean maps. It was great to take a chunk of land and battle tooth and nail over it for several battles. Seeing the land become a cratered battlefield with smoldering AFV wrecks was a great sight to see. Also that feeling of wanting to push hard to see what land lays ahead in the next battle. Sure it wasn't perfect, far from it, certainly could use some improvements. But it was certainly a helluva start IMO. Sad to see it abandoned because they were on the right track.
  17. Is it just me or are we starting to look like a bunch of unattended little kids with no adult supervision? Sure it's all fun and games at first, but then we'll start to turn on ourselves. It's getting out of hand and I love it!
  18. Lol, CMN is absolutely nowhere near the legendary status of DNF. I think that game was initially planned for release like 8 yrs ago. A game has to be delayed a minimum of 2 years for it to be even mentioned with DNF in the same breath. But if BF did go down that route they probably wouldn't make it that far, they'd go broke. So I gather there is no turn-based mode with TCP/IP, just real time? I wouldn't know since I only play SP and PBEM.
  19. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we have ourselves here a disillusioned hypocrite. How can you be quietly waiting and not being nag when you start your very own thread? Your honor, I rest my case.
  20. Yeah that would be great to have. Especially for CMSF since it won't have the new QB system that will be coming with CMN.
