  1. Yeah you definitely do not have to bring a building down to lose preserve points for it. All you need to do is visible damage to a building, ie. a blown wall or collapsed roof.
  2. I thought this was very interesting and worth posting. It's a visual and statistical representation of wealth and health from 200 countries over the last 200 years. Although it's not really educational but seeing it visually laid out like this is pretty kool. The clip is part of Hans Rosling's program called "The Joy of Stats" which broadcast on BBC Four.
  3. CM:IDCAIJWTPTG Combat Mission: I Don't Care Anymore I Just Want To Play The Game
  4. The classic sing-a-long for highly intoxicated folk like me. The Blarney Stone by Ween!
  5. Pandur, have you played CMx1 TCP/IP with timed turns? Because I have a ton of times and never had problems with it, ever. The opponent you describe is exactly the kind I, and probably most others wouldn't want to play with anyway. So to say no to a feature like this mainly because players could possibly abuse/ignore it doesn't make sense to me.
  6. I never really paid much attention to the MGs in CMSF. But I thought the burst length was dependent on range to target. The shorter the range the longer the burst. So then if your target was like 200+ meters away then wouldn't it just be a waste of ammo?
  7. Well we should have a pause option for RT TCP/IP. Just like how CMx1 did it with timed turns, somebody requests a pause and the other either accepts or declines. Getting a phone call or somebody knocking on the front door does happen while playing.
  8. So it's finally settled then, the official name of CMN will be... Platoon Leader Beyoncé Wow, you guys are bold!
  9. I too own and play Achtung Panzer. They already announced their next followup title Details here graviteam.com. I like this dev a lot, they made the excellent tank sim Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942. So looking forward to their next tank sim It's based on the Iran-Iraq war of 1981, Afghanistan 1984, and Angola 1987. A bummer the followup to the Kharkov tank sim will have to wait longer now, but they did confirm it will still be coming. Also, our near and dear Battlefront published their T72: Balkans in Fire title awhile back. So hopefully someday they will come back here. IIRC the primary reason they didn't work together again was because of the language barrier.
  10. Just don't expect Steve to post much right at x-mas time. He really gets into the spirit of the holidays and dresses up as Santa. One of the beta testers leaked out this photo of him from a few years ago.
  11. No I'm not talking about 2vs2 or 4vs4. Why bother, it's hard enough finding a single opponent. I'm talking about a MP lobby for all BF published games or maybe just the CMx1 and 2 series. It would be great if something like this could be implemented into the in-game MP option of future CMx2 titles. Sure signing up on ladders/clubs still works and will never go away as they not only provide opponents but camaraderie as well. Or even using Tunngle or Hamachi works partially. But it seems there would or could be many more MPers out there if it was made brain-dead easy. At least for the casual mainstream players out there. I do recall few years ago Moon/Steve talking about eventually wanting to make the MP feature much easier for players to hookup. Any new updates or plans for a MP lobby or something?
  12. This is highly advanced technology first created by Dr. Luther in 1984. Here is a clip of his smart bullet creation at 1:55 and again at 4:30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfaibUieZUc Don't miss his demise at the end by his own spider bots.
  13. I do miss this as well, I used it quite often. Maybe they could make the shift key a 180 arc and a double tap shift for the 360 degree arc. Also when a unit's icon flashes due to taking a casualty, can the time it flashes be made a user selected option. As it is now, it flashes I think for about three seconds. If I could I would change this to like ten seconds or so.
  14. As for the off topic stuff, it's all good as long it's about great games like the OFP/Arma series. I just recently bought Arma 2: Op Arrowhead and am loving it. It's great and makes for some real side-by-side playing with CMSF and CMA with the very similar desert/mountainous terrain and similar units. They got British DLC and now a just released PMC(Private Military Company) DLC. Basically the PMC is like the Mercs from Blackwater. So it is essentially mimicking forces and recent events of Iraq and Afghanistan but using fictional names. By the way, you can completely customize the difficulty of the AI from being braid dead can't-hit-the-broad-side-of-a-barn type to being super human terminators. Helps to avoid the annoying super accurate and super spotting ability of the default AI settings.
  15. Well I finally watched 9th Company last night and it was well worth the wait. Although the ending battle was pretty cheesy over-the-top Hollywood crap. But beyond that, it was a solid war movie. Yeah the English voice overs are horrible, I was using headphones and the sound quality is night and day difference. The English overdub completely butchers the overall sound quality of the movie. Although it didn't really matter to me since I always prefer reading the subtitles and hearing the native spoken language. Besides, those that listen to the overdubs are lazy non-readers.
  16. Well I think this puts things in perspective a little bit. GDogs problem is in fact a game breaker. Not really comparable to the Nvidia lighting graphical glitch that had no impact on gameplay. The game ran fine after all. Good luck GDog, hope you get it sorted out.
  17. Awesome, this is great to hear, has this been mentioned before? If not then it's a mini-bone. Speaking of which, when in the hell are we gonna get a Normandy bone? It's been quite awhile now and with NATO and CMA now shipped along with the 1.31 patch, it's time. Or do we all have to wait for x-mas? Btw, when a unit's icon flashes due to taking a casualty, can the time it flashes be made a user selected option. As it is now, it flashes I think for about three seconds. If I could I would change this to like ten seconds or so.
  18. ... I am and don't call me Shirley. What a bummer, Leslie Nielsen died yesterday from pneumonia at age 84. Like many, I loved him in the Airplane and Naked Gun series. Also thought he was great in that episode of Creepshow where he plays a murderer. Here's payback from burying a couple neck deep right before the tide comes in.
  19. IMO a rolling one minute replay function for RT players is far more important than a event log. But a more simplistic click-able casualty light/warning that takes you right to the hotspot would be useful.
  20. I don't think Nvidia people left in droves at all. Sure it was certainly a minor annoyance, but not a game breaker. I never left and sure don't recall any threads from people saying they were leaving.
  21. Funny how this thread gets bumped right when it finally ships to me from Blockbuster online. Going away for the holidays so won't get to watch it until next week sometime.
  22. Wow, a lot of breathtaking photos there. The shot of the Bahamas is amazing, so just made it my wallpaper. Thanks for posting, gonna email some friends the link.
