  1. My point is that in modern warfare one usually gets to know a lot more than what is in your briefing. And that leaves aside the fact that the US virtually never goes anywhere without arty and air cover. Just trying to be helpful.
  2. Was there a scenario in the demo called OUTPOST ASSAULTED?? After I installed the full game, even though this scenario is still in the games folder it does not appear as an option within the game.
  3. OUTPOST ASSAULTED is definitely a .btt file. Dated 9/5/2010. If it was in the demo, maybe that's why it won't run??
  4. Paper Tiger, your scenarios and campaign are all amazing. But, do you design them for RL play? As a WEGO guy, I am finding the otherwise xnt Road To Dinas really tough. Took too many casualties in scenario 11 (I think that's the right one) and of course the campaign ended. Any way I can continue through just to play the remaining 4 scenarios, plz? It's a bitch to keep replaying...
  5. Thanks for your help, mate. So there are no other imbedded programs associated with CMA that require an UNINSTALL? I had problems with games in the past that I simply deleted only to find there were bits of them still elsewhere in the system. BTW: I STILL cannot see OUTPOST ASSAULTED in the CMA game scenario list even though it is in the scenario folder. I tried it in CMSF as well and it didn't show up in the that game either, so am pretty sure it's supposed to be in CMA. Ideas?
  6. PS: Re the briefing... Found these interesting comments on CMBN are that might be helpful when writing your briefing: "I think the fault of most briefings is that they are devoid of any kind of useful intel, the kind of which a lot of commanders would have had. most actions would be part of bigger operations and therefore, local intelligence may well be very good on such things as enemy positions. Even in the worst war movies, where they get everything else wrong, you'll see the "Ok, son whats the situation here?" " Well sir, There's Germans are holed up in the village, were pretty sure it's remanants of the battalion that was holding xxx, they're a prettty ragged bunch. They have an a/t gun in the village square thats knocking out anything that comes down the main road, and thats the only route through to the bridge for our armour, there's also a sniper working in the area sir" Now thats a crap movie yet I have played many good scenarios where the briefing is only really used to tell you what your facing, in the sense that at the end of it all you know is that There are a company of germans, with tanks holding a village, now that level of intel is ok but not all the time, every battle you fight should not be a point unit advancing into the unknown. Now if you look at the intel maps for some battles, you see known position of weapons pits, mg sites, mines, pillboxes and such all marked. Granted not every battle would have that level of intel but most times your forces would be relieving other units or such like and there would be local knowledge that would be shared."
  7. i ACTUALLY FOUND THE ORIGINAL FILE. hAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT WAS HIDING AND NOW IT'S BACK. bUT THANKS FOR THE RE RE RE SEND.
  8. Also, The new version of OPIUM FIELDS disappeared again. Can you resend plz.
  9. My question was why load up ANA vehicles with 7.62x39 (and 5.45mm) ammo when no ANA weapon in the game can use it... I suppose it's possible that (in the game) AKM's and RPK's can use the copious supplies of 7.62x54mm in addition to the meager amounts of 7.72x39mm supplied. Another CMSF abstraction??
  10. All seems ok now I transferred all game files to the new CMA install location... except that OUTPOST ASSAULTED still does not appear in the CMA scenarios list. Was that made for an earlier version? Anyone else have problems with that scenario?
  11. You are brilliant Schrullenhaft. I had completely forgot that I asked how to reinstall to a C:/sims/ directory. I did indeed have two CMA games installed. Moving files from the old install seems to have recovered the saved games. Thanks! How to safely uninstall the version installed in the default directory without uninstalling or messing up the license etc for the new install?
  12. Thanks. Map looks much better with many new decisions and opportunities to consider. Am still puzzled why the ANA BTR's are full of ammo the ANA troops can't use. (Or, in CMSF, can an AKM use 7.62x54mm ammo as well as the 7.62x39mm?)
  13. The AAR videos are very good. But the first comment after the metal box video was a bit depressing: "are you ****ing serious? you think i will pre-order a $60.00 game based on this video? like who the **** market a game like this these days? i could care less about a metal case, show me game play real footage, give me a demo then i will pay for it." Once one tries to get into the mass market, this is what you're dealing with.
  14. Ok, ok... seriously though, personally I think BF products are too cheap - given that extra programmers/help etc would clearly help with rate of publication of products. So, here's a poll question: How much extra money would you pay for CMBN if the money would help get CMBN released by next weekend?
  15. Xmas 2011 would be a great time to release.
  16. The no alpha channel pics show an interesting effect with bits missing. Can that be used and modded for the CM: Zombies version so many are calling for?
  17. I have Win 7 & and I know that the game saves to a virtual store location. I can see all the saved game files in the VS location, but the newly re-installed CMA just doesn't see em. Transferring them to a SAVED GAME folder in the game root dir doesn't help. (I don't recall if they were v1.0 games, but if so maybe v1.02 doesn't see em.) However, in addition, there are some newly downloaded scenarios (to the regular game location sub directory where all the original scenarios reside) that do not appear on the list eg: the new Poppy Fields Forever scenario I downloaded from Repository and placed in GAME FILES/SCENARIOS. Tried it twice and it doesn't show up in the game list.
  18. I had to reinstall and patch CMA to v1.02. Now, I find that it won't recognize any previously saved games. (In addition several downloaded scenarios also do not show up in the SCENARIOS list.) Any ideas?
  19. When I put this in my CMA scenarios folder it doesn't appear in the list in the game. (This is for CMA and not CMSF right?) Actually, now I looked, I also don't see "The Bear and the Wasps Nest" or "Outpost Assaulted." Anyone else having problem getting these scenarios to show up in the scenario list in the game? Mine is patched to v1.02.
  20. Am pretty sure that terrain bmps and many other bmps are interchangeable, but may need renumbering. You'll have to check the bmp maps (unless someone else here has a definitive answer).
  21. "Maybe CMSF also insulted Muslims, they got there ass kicked everywhere in the game... Wait, will CMBN insult germans?" LOL
  22. "Your Department of Defense maybe different though." Uh... yah... you think? Vinnart: Recon doesn't work in the CM series as it does in RL, I don't see why one should be restricted in using your sort of tactics. The CM series breaks down in all sorts of ways once under the microscope. (But, that doesn't mean it cannot be useful as a trainer in carefully defined educational situations.)
