1. I'm sorry murrin... I just couldn't resist. Forgive me, but your RLtrees and grass look so..uhhm real. Not to talk about that Panther. btw. can we have an option without those turret numbers?
2. Um, illo, dude! How many times do I have to tell you not to release the pics of my upcoming mods?!
3. Yep, that's right. BTS, I just want to say thank you for making such a wonderful game! Steve, Charles, MadMatt, Kwazydog, and (of course!) Schrullenhaft (damn, I forgot some people, didn't I?) - it's been a fantastic year! I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of games that I still play after that length of time, to say nothing of continuous play. What a game! Now, any chance I can get an equal exchange of CM hours for frequent flyer miles? Nathanael
4. There's a little voice in the back of my mind telling me the Russians scraped one off the bottom of the river not more than a decade or two ago. Nathanael
5. I seem to remember all sorts of reports of "fire from 88's" coming from Omaha beach. A lot of people dismissed them until it was discovered that there was an entire brigade(?) of flak-guns behind the beach. It stands to reason that they were indeed capable of short-range indirect fire, and were so used from time to time. Nathanael
6. Thanks, that pretty much answers all my questions. Nathanael
7. This has to be my most watched topic. I think I've read nearly every post in every Op thread, as they are what I would be playing most. So, after reading much and thinking long, here's my take on Ops: Anybody here (having posted that is) played the HASL modules? I think the system for establishing setup zones in the KGP modules was extremely good. For those who may not know what the heck I'm talking about, the idea is that there is no real front line. Essentially, every key point on the map that you occupied or otherwise controlled gave you a setup zone of a certain diameter. In the case of overlapping opposing zones, you got no-man's land. There were rules for isolation, etc., but that's not my concern here. What was interesting was that scattered units tended to get moved to the larger areas, and the setup areas would eventually look like a bunch of overlapping circles. Isolated units tended to die and hence not be a problem. The end result was that the setup zones for the next battle looked very like a standard, real company deployment. Does any of this make sense so far? So here's my thought: Would it be possible to somehow "tag" units with the ability to project an "area of influence" that, in combination with other units, determine a setup zone? The idea here would be that you would need more than just a handful of units to create the zone (the more the greater the diameter is where I'm going here), and all the scattered ones would just be moved to the nearest one. Isolated units would be moved at loss, or just eliminated if they are too small. As for map advancement, smaller groups that might not realistically be expected to hold in the rear would just be eliminated outright. I realize this would probably be an ungodly nightmare to do, but what of it? Has it been tried? Has it been brought up before and discarded? Is it possible that I thought of something no one else has? As a further disclaimer, I do realize that it's way too late to expect anything even remotely close to this in CMBB, but what about in an engine rewrite? Aside from adding flags in Ops, this is something that has been growing in my mind for some time. So, thoughts anyone? Nathanael
8. Sure thing. Send 'em my way, and I'll email you as soon as I test 'em. Email addy's in the profile. Nathanael
9. Ah hell, I thought I finally had all the right mods... Nathanael
10.
quote:
Originally posted by Rex_Bellator: Go for the eyes Boo! Go for the eyes!

LOL What was that line, before you enter Firkraag's(sp?) cave/dungeon? Something about Minsc knowing there's squirrels about and saying to Boo, "QUICK!! THROW NUTS!!!" Which was quickly followed by a remark about professionalism by Jaheira(again, sp?). I was laughing for about a good hour at that one. Oh, and welcome to the jungle, BB. Nathanael
11. Ok, Wacky. You might as well premanently put me on your list of mod requesters. Trying to give Scipio a run for his money, eh? Did I say that I like it? Oh, and did I say that I'm playing at least 10% more CM now? Nathanael
12. Sounds pretty cool. My email addy's in my profile. Nathanael
13. Ah, the Goliath. That's the one I was thinking of. Thanks, Mattias. Nathanael
14. Weren't they used to help end the Warsaw uprising? Nathanael
15.
quote:
Originally posted by Jussi Köhler: I hope CMBB wont be published in a looong time... My studies are nearing their completion, just the last push left... Would it be possible to publish CMBB next fall possibly??

You, sir, have a very evil aspect to you. Nathanael
16. That explains a lot. I once played a QB in which I had a shallow hill on my left flank topped by a pine knot, and surrounded by a thin line of "L" shaped woods. It was also home to an objective. I topped it with an 88 bunker and laced the fringe with wire. It was perfect, and should've been invisible with two tight fire lanes leading in. Imagine my surprise when I hit GO and six Shermans immediately blasted it to smithereens! Now I know why... Nathanael
17. I was never instructed to throw them like a baseball. Proper delivery (in training anyway) is the overhand lob. As to range, just try to convince me to stand up and crank one of those things at someone who is a mere 40-60 yards away! Uh-uh. I'm going to make damn sure I'm lying down and behind some cover, because that ball-o'-fun isn't going any farther than 20 yards. Nathanael
18. I've heard rumor of a fusion-powered hovertank mounting a 150mm autocannon capable of carrying a whole platoon of space rangers and boasting a top speed of 230km p/hr! Err... wait... That's gonna be George Lucas' new toy in the second episode of Star Wars... Nathanael
19. Hellcat. 2 KT's, 4 Panther G's, 3 MK IV's, 2 mortars, 26 infantry. This particular friend no longer wants to play me. Nathanael
20. I tend to pull back and consolidate if I'm getting stomped on the attack, or run for the rear if I'm defending and losing badly. Nathanael
21. Very nice. This isn't a criticism, however I (and hopefully others) would find it most helpful if you could list the sources for your page. I imagine they would make some absorbing reading. Nathanael
