  1. I like both these ideas. Being able to tell your unit as commander to not waste his ammo and only fire a certain number of rounds when you can see a unit is getting low would be real nice.
  2. Glad to hear it pal. Give yer Ma a cheery hello from us here...
  3. With all due respect, that's far from a "rant" Oh sh!t - I've used one of those thingys to express myself again </font>
  4. MikeT, whatever you do, HANG IN THERE! Us mod wienies need you...
  5. I hope you didnt have too many barbies brigadier... Now if you'd said GI Joes, we all woulda related, lol!
  6. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! *pant* *pant* ok...feel...better now... ...will...try...to wait...*gasp*
  7. MikeT, I checked the CMHQ website and did not see the cmmos mods. Are they not posted yet? Gautrek mods and cmmos, the cake with the icing...
  8. Guatrek, just to let you know...you are one of my favorite modders. I have a number of the jobs you have done and like everyone of them, no sucking up intended... Again, well done!
  9. Ah! The name PanzerBlitz...thats brings back some good tabletop memories. Welcome to the club PB, your home now among friends...
  10. I would like to see amphibious vessels and vehicles like the Dukw, LCVP, and LCM's, as well as Duplex Drive Shermans. There was a LOT of amphib warfare thru out Europe and the Med. To not have this ability is not being able to play some key fights like Anzio, The Torch landings, Sicily, Dieppe, Norway for the Germans, and of course Normandy and Southern France. The Dukw would carry a squad, the lcvp a platoon, and the LCM a tank, truck, etc. Have maybe gunfire support modeled for offshore rocket lauching boats, forgot what they were called, as well as DD's, CA's, BB's. I would also like to see paratrooopers that are dropped into combat. If we cant watch them come down, at least allow us to choose the drop zone and model the area winddrift, etc. Then have the units appear where they came down. Maybe with a turn to recover from the drop. There would also be their arms canisters. Dont forget gliders too. If they cant be modeled, (you wusses, you call yourselfs programmers?? :0) ), you can at least model again the drop areas where they come down and have the unit appear where it landed. These gliders would also allow you to carry light vehicles like the jeep or Bren carrier, and also light ATG's. One last thing, when I was trying to make a scenario from Squad Leader, I found that having a simple "Y" road junction would have helped a LOT! Add a damn "Y" road junction fer cryin out loud, hehe. It would also be nice once CMAK comes out with multi turreted support, if BTS would kindly model the Soviet land battleships for use in CMAK. Why? Because the terrain in CMAK Italy is similar, though no steppe I understand, to Russia. This, and an ability to import models from CMBB would allow scenarios to be made for the east front with the new game. ...just a thought. [ April 11, 2003, 03:48 PM: Message edited by: pcpilot ]
  11. I have to agree. Combine both CMBO and CMBB for the next game, and add North Africa, or perhaps even 1939/1940! It would be excellent. VERY excellent.</font>
  12. It is likely academic whether the Russians would have won without the Americans in WW2. By the time of the Allied landings in Normandy, the Soviets were already well on their way to pushing the Germans out of Russia. But the massive aid provided by the Americans, brought over at great cost by American seamen, did much to aleviate the suffering of the Russians and most surely strengthened their postition and allowed the Communists to turn the tables in their favor. Many German leaders knew that the situation was desperate not so much from being pushed back, but in their own words, when they saw the Russians eating American food, driving American Tanks, planes, and trucks, and firing American ammunition. Yes, the early American tanks were poor. The Americans had to play their usual game of catchup when it came to tank technology thanks to narrow visioned pre-war polititions. But the Americans learned fast. After only a few months, models like the jumbo and easy 8 were coming into action, soon to backed up by the Pershing and others. And of course, not only were the tanks getting better, there were LOTS of them. I beleive many armored formations fielded by the Canadians were made up of these tanks also as the Russians werent the only recipients of American Largesse. These tanks were formed in combat units ably led by the likes of Patton, Bradley, etc. The units were made up of well trained, motivated troops who, while they did not fight as long a war as the rest of the allies in Europe, most certainly paid a heavy price for the freedom of Europe. And while things werent always rosey like the propaganda would have us beleive, these units worked very well with the rest of the Allies, including Canada. America did not fight as long in Europe as the CommonWealth or Russia, but the fresh troops, constant supply, and upbeat morale most certainly did a great deal to turn the tide. With out it, the war would have went on a lot longer and at even greater cost. Only a fool wouldnt see that. God Bless America Semper Fi...
  13. I used it a lot for CMBO before I got cable...worked fine.
  14. One of the most fascinating books I ever read was "Enemy at the Gates, the battle for Stalingrad" by William Craig, published by Konecky and konecky. It is till being published some 30 years after its initial entrance onto the market. It tells the story of the battle from both sides using eyewitness accounts from the survivors. It is a horrible, gruesome portrait of war, and most compelling. You will never look at your board and computer games the same.
  15. Where did you find them? I looked all over the Depot, even searched, Nada.
  16. And also, which ones are you doing now? Where can I find them? I know some are at the depot. I'm curious. Not sure I want to do a scenario/map someone else is already doing or done. I also would like to collect eventually all the East Front ASL scenarios for CMBB. I am in the playtesting mode for scenarios 1,2,3 combined called "Streets of Stalingrad" on map/board 1. PS. If anyone would care to playtest this scenario, please let me know. I'll reciprocate for you.
  17. Its on its way to you now. I decided to do all 3 scenarios at once because I wanted to see if I could do the entire board. It turned out pretty good, though like you, I had the problem with building orientation. I am confident I can do any of the boards now, though there will be differences that we will have to live with. There was also the problem of not having single story buildings you could add together like the 2 story ones in CMBB. So I had to make do with the 2 story ones, changing the orginal scenarios' ingame LOS challenge somewhat. I also figured that 4 tiles represented a hex in the ASL boards. A tile is 20 meters, a hex was 40. I also noticed that the time scale is different. In ASL a turn was 2 minutes while in CMBB it is of course one. I didnt discover this until I had played the scenario twice. I had originally thought ASL was 1 minute also. It had played out very well with not doubleing the number of turns. So I modified the shorter time adding a few more turns, not just doubleing the number, and relying on the dynamic game ending to take care of the rest. If anyone else would like to try it, please let me know. Thanks CaSca.
  18. Ill drink one to yur Dad Mark, and to all of us who by the grace of God have made it to another year.
  19. My girlfreind would LOVE to do just that... I was wondering, is there a list of all the vehicles in the game somewhere? I didnt find anything in the manual.
  20. WOW! I didnt realize this thread is here. I have been wrestling with adopting CMBB to some ASL scenarios. I decided to start easy and began with the first 3 scenarios, The Guards Counterattack The Tractor Works and The Streets of Stalingrad. The map was fairly easy but for a few things...it would have been nice to have single story buildings you could put together to make bigger buildings like you can already do with the heavy 2 story buildings. There was also a problem with roads, there was no simple Y intersection. I had to figure out a way to make something similar with what I had. Another problem was OB's. I didnt need all the platoon HQ's. It would have been nice to add some single squads. I edited the extra HQ's to make them as ineffective as poss. but they are still there. The victory conditions had to be modified somewhat also but I think the spirit of the battle has been captured. I played it so far as first Germans, then again as the Russians and it was quite fun. The AI is a bit stupid making peicemeal attacks and at one point actually abandoning the Factory. So I think if it is played as a hotseat game by yourself, we all did this with ASL, or even better, with a freind, it will be a real tough nut to crack. The AI still managed to cause me grief, stopping a couple of my attacks and forcing me to regroup, reinforce, and attack again. The tanks were also a nice add into the game giving it a real twist in the street fighting. I saw one StG get hit by no less then 5 molotovs! I guess what I am wondering now is, would anyone care to try the scenario? If so, can I upload it somewhere or simply email it to those that ask? I'd love to get more feedback on it. If it is well recieved, Ill try my hand at some more scenarios. I put a lot of work into it but by george, it was fun building it. [ December 31, 2002, 06:57 PM: Message edited by: pcpilot ]
  21. In the map editor, you can add two story, (heavy), buildings together over two tiles to make a larger building. This is cool. But how about a way to do the same thing for single story buildings. A lot of warehouses are single story and cover more than 20 meters. I guess what I am asking is for a new tile to be added to the map editor to reflect large single story buildings that can be added together to make even larger buildings.
  22. Thank you fellas, I did find the T-40 afterall. I had a feeling the T-28 might be a challenge to model. WHAT??!!?? No cures for baldness?
  23. Where are they? They are in a number of early war ASL scenarios but not in CMBB. Will they be added? Is there a cure for baldness? Why do I ask so many questions?
  24. Im sure this is a dumb question, but since I am so good at asking them, here goes... I am trying to adopt some Squad Leader scenarios to CMBB. One of the biggest problems is not being able to add individual squads not under the command of a platoon HQ. I wind up with too many leaders/HQ's. If I could eliminate the platoon HQ, the Company HQ would take them over if they are in command range. Is there a way to do this? Could it possibly be modeled in a patch? Am I asking for the moon here?
