  1. A few more questions if I may... -What is the differance between amphibious and amphibious_minor scripts? Now Im just speculating here but...In the D-Day mini-campaign in WaW, there are already amphibious transports waiting off the caost of France in the begining of the campaign and this campaign uses the amphibious_minor scripts. If I wanted the AI United Kingdom to continue to mount amphibious landings after the intial assaults, would I use the amphibious script instead of the amphibious_minor script? What about simply using transport scripts to move troops to a taken port? -In the fleet script, is there a way to set the type of ship I have move to an goal_position? Like have subs only patroling an area off an enemy coast or port? -I noticed in the D-Day campaign scripts that the troops were landed and attack coastal villages using the amphibious_minor scripts. Then the offensive script is used to attack inland to Caen. How would I extend the attacks on past Caen once its taken? How would I write another offensive script? How does the computer read this? I think I may already know but want to be sure. Thank you much for your time...
  2. *slaps forehead...* *...too hard* Thanks Bill for the info VERY much. Cant beleive I missed the "adding units" part. I have started with a small map. I made three islands; one is England, another Germany, and another is a neutral Algeria so I could explore that side of things later. Was fun figuring out the tiles for islands, lol. Wife told me this moring I spent 11 hours yesterday playing with this editor and the game...yikes! Speaking of which, I have to go to work soon so will be away for awhile. But I'll be reading more of the manual tonight, lol.
  3. Hi all. Ive bought SC2 and WaW and am playing with the editor. First, is there any kind of tutorial concerning the various AI and Event scripts? Im reading the manual and am studying the script templates. But Im not terribly familier with scripts of any kind so not sure what Im reading so I have a zillion questions. Also, was wondering when I write a script, say the purchase script, are all the countries in my campaign listed in the one purchase script? Im guessing yes. Further, each country's purchases for each year in the campaign would be listed in that same purchase script also? Lastly, how do I get a country to START the campaign with units on it? So far, all Ive been able to do is have initial purchases show up first turn in an empty country. Thank you very much for your time. Im sure everyone has better things to do than answer questions from an ignorant newb...
  4. I just bought SC2 and WaW expansion. I thought the expansion would simply add content into the SC2 game. It appears I have two different shortcuts to the game now which makes me wonder if I have two different installs and need to install a patch for both SC2 and WaW. Can someone clarify this for me? Any help would be much appreciated.
  5. Thanks Wushuki. Sorry didnt respond sooner, I work the swing shift so sometimes cant answer in a more timely manner. Another question...what did shipping cost you? Last I ordered something, it was $10 for CMSF Marines. That pretty much kills the $15 off they are offering for SC2/WAW bundle now. Wish they would use media mail, lots cheaper.
  6. I played the SC2 demo Normandy invasion scenario...LOVED IT!!! I was the allies. My initial assaults were not planned and pretty hasty in execution. Suffered some losses but managed to focus and expand the beachheads. The supporting Naval units gunfire was a help all along the coast for yanks and anglos alike. Crossed the Cotentin penninsula and cut off Cherbourg then finally took the port and landed a few more troops from England. Then pushed down the penninsula to St. Lo. The Brits and Canadians meanwhile had a nasty fight for Caen. But airpower pretty much made the differance with the panzers that kept cropping up. Lots of losses again for the anglos and ran out of supplies but managed to take all my objectives to win a total victory. Lots of fun. I think Ive found my next beer and pretzels game! I love grand strategy but games like Hearts of Iron and Gary Grigsby's World at War are a little TOO involved and detailed. I think SC2 strikes a nice balance between playabilty and detail like supplies, leaders, etc. It'll be fun to try the game against a human opponent but until that day Im sure the AI will suffice. Seems like everytime I left a hole open or a flank un-guarded, some little hun unit would sneak in and cause me delays, lol. I also liked the way this game seems to handle both grand strategy and also a more local tactical battle like Normandy...very cool. That adds playability to me. I enjoyed your original Sc for years Hubert. Looks like Sc2 will be my next addition...
  7. If I order the boxed (by mail) version of SC2 and WAW, will it include a printed manual? Thank you...
  8. Gotta say Ive enjoyed the daylights out of this game, (ShockForce and Marines). While I was a bit skeptical at first about the new direction, Im always willing to give things a chance. You guys at BF have done yourselves well by keeping your word and producing an excellent product. And yes, your correct, a HUGE THANK YOU to the Beta testers...well done fellas, youve helped to make my down time a lot of fun.
  9. Elmar said it, the end of an era. Ive downloaded many a mod from CMMODS. Thank you for all the time and effort you spent Todd, its been much appreciated. God bless to you and your wife.
  10. I like that list. It would be a real nice improvement to the game. I would add a moveable or directional dismount command too.
  11. Lol, thanks for the replies fellas. Here's ta hopin eh? ;0)
  12. Dont mean to complain but is there ever going to be moveable waypoints or individual unit record keeping in this game like cmx1? Sure liked those features... Other than that been pretty much enjoying this game. Actually did a real time scenario the other night when all I normally do is turn based. Had to chuckle when I sat there three minutes waiting for the moves to end so I could review the turn...duuuhhhhh...
  13. Havent been able to get the website the last couple days...major bummer...
  14. I think you guys are on the right track for what its worth. Maybe, from what youve said about this game engines' flexability and growth potential, a module one of these days might include amphibious units eh?
  15. Not a bad idea, used to love the General magazine. Maybe something like an online version, RSS feed perhaps? With battle history/background and downloadable content; scenarios, vehicle and soldier paint schemes, new QB maps, etc. Maybe make it bi-monthly. Id pay a reasonable fee for something like that.
  16. In the USMC Hills and Highways scenario, Some things I noticed about the objectives...There were 3 objectives, the intersection, the heights, and the village square. The intersection didnt show a green area at all so forgot it was an objective and never took it. I had troops on the heights but didnt get credit for it in the end credits or a radio message during the game telling me I had taken the heights. The green area high-lighting the objective didnt disappear either when I moved troops into the area. When I had troops move thru the village square, I got a message and the green area disappeared. Same thing happened in the USMC Beach scenario with its objectives except I got credit for them but no message telling me so and the green area didnt disappear. Otherwise, Ive been enjoying the heck out of this addon.
  17. Thanks for the reply seabee. Would be nice if the game had a pause function and an end turn function, but certainly not a fun killer. Yeah as for arty, almost ran a plattoon of strykers into a 155mm barage last nite. Those boys were a little nervous, lol. By the way, former BM2 here...77-84. Have a good one shipmate.
  18. Been loving CMSF for the most part, espesially the latest patch, its outstanding. Lots of action and I think Im actually learning something about basic tactics. Of course, if I take on one of you pros, Ill probably have my butt handed to me... A couple little things I been wondering about... 1.) Any way to adjust waypoints once you put them down? 2.) I cant seem to end a turn while its playing out. Any way to do that? For instance, Im having my units move over a large expance and nothings likely to happen. I want to end the turn and go to the next turn. But the game wont allow it until the turns played out. 3.) How long does it normally take to cancel arty/air support? Im moving troops into an area being pasted and dont time it right and POW!...they get whacked. Battlefront, well done on this game...
  19. Looking forward to the Marine Module. Thanks for the good news and keeping us updated. I'll also say I am relieved to hear the price of the module is quite reasonable and that CMSF will continue to be supported so fully. Well done Battlefront!
  20. No luck with google. My searches for power management come up with all kinds of hits. Anyone have a link to this utility? Or maybe its proper name for searching again? Thanks...
  21. What power management download are you talking about? I looked in the troubleshooting thread and didnt see anything about power management.
  22. 50, former Marine and Navy. Played AH board games from 1977 at least and still lovin gamin.
  23. Ive downloaded and installed all 3 packs of maps plus the one patch. I ditched the original maps as these are REALLY nice. Well done Mark and Mishga!
  24. Yeah, I liked Sturmoviks' replay function too. Being able to switch between units was cool so you could get the whole picture on what happened. Too bad BFC doesnt make the effort.
  25. Ah, I didnt recall that little tidbit; thanks for the reminder Mud.
