German Infantry mods 1941
AndrewTF replied to Federico's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
For the record, I am not nor have I ever been "AstroCat". Just sayin'. Anyhow, I think AstroCat may have packaged up some of my mods. It's been a while so I don't really remember. Nice to see the mods mentioned, though. -
Yes, I hope it stays together. They're all owned by the foundation that he set up, so perhaps that will keep them as one collection. The place where I work has a connection to his family, so I thought at some point I might try to see if I could set up a tour. Oh well.

Of the amazing Littlefield Collection of military vehicles here in the Bay Area. He was only 59... didn't get to play with all those cool toys as long as he should have been able to. Ah, to be rich. Why am I not from old money, dammit!? Obit from SFGate: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/01/12/BAHA157UND.DTL

Hey, enough of the Habanero bashing! They need to be used in moderation, but they're pretty fantastic. They are definitely hotter than most anything else out there, but the heat doesn't last as long (really) in your mouth, and they have a wonderful floral fruity flavor that other chilies don't. Try this. You'll like it: Charred habanero salsa 1 or 2 (depending on your pain threshold) Habanero chilies, seeded and stemmed 3 Roma tomatoes 2 cloves garlic 1/3 cup water kosher salt to taste On a heavy pan or griddle (a cast iron pan is perfect) roast chilies, tomatoes, and unpeeled garlic until all are brown, blistered, and soft. Using rubber gloves (I cannot stress this enough... god help you if you have Habanero oil on your fingers when you decide to rub your eyes or scratch your nads or something), remove the stems and seeds from the Habaneros. Chop tomatoes roughly, peel garlic, and put everything into a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Good with tortilla chips; even better drizzled over tacos made from Mayan chicken cooked in banana leaves (chicken pib), homemade tortillas, black beans, and pickled onions. Mmmmmm.

You might find the MacBook's low Video RAM might not support it. </font>

Cool! BTW, I have a high-end G5 that I'm not planning on replacing anytime soon. Don't make me play CM on my wifes MacBook!
-
No... it was GM. Ford was Ford. Both were (supposedly) nationalized by the Nazis before the war, but, rumor has it, that didn't let Ford and GM stand in the way of making a nice profit out of the situation.

Thanks! You don't even want to know how much time went into most of those mods. I'm glad people are still enjoying them. Actually it wasn't my computer, in the strictest sense, it was my work-issued laptop. The up side is that I'm getting a MacBook Pro tomorrow or Tuesday that already has Windows XP installed, so that may put me back on the CM bandwagon.

Looking for a uniform mod
AndrewTF replied to WindyCity's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Modding a greatcoat -- without it looking silly -- would involve altering the 3D model for the soldiers and we can't do that. Best we can do is padded winter jackets and so forth that are the same approximate length as the tunic so it can use the existing 3D model ok. -

I'm usually lurking here off and on. Seriously, at this point if anyone wants to do anything to my mods go ahead. As long as people are enjoying them, that's the main thing. -

Real life takes precedent. I'll try to wrap it up soon, especially since most of the work is done already. -

Hey DavidI: I don't even have CMAnything installed anymore, mainly because I got a new G5 recently and can't boot into OS 9 anymore . If I whip up some textures would you be good enough to test, package them up and release them? You've done such a nice job with my other mods that you've worked with -

I'm fine with ads. If they help keep the resource available, and don't interfere with the usability of the site then why not? -

Go get yourself a painting program (Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro; some masochists have been known to use MS Paint) and paint away. Use different blending modes to allow the underlying textures to show through. There are some modding tutorials out there on the Web. Zimorodok has a good one on his Web site: .
