Quick Battle Limitations
Vanir Ausf B replied to HarryB's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I'm just curious why German dismounted infantry can be purchased by the company but American must be purchased by the battalion. Of course you can pair the American battalion down to a company, but it requires extra mouse clicks. -

Are the hit texts accurate in WeGo? -
Tiger Mealtime Position
Vanir Ausf B replied to siffo998's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I ran the test 10 times. There were 9 hits on the "Upper Front Hull" resulting in 8 full penetrations and 1 partial penetration. There were 8 hits to the "Superstructure Front Hull" and I stopped counting hits to the "Left Front Hull" at 9. None penetrated. One other thing I noticed is that the graphical representation for where the round hits does not match the hit description text. I never once saw a hit on the right side (from the Tiger's perspective) of the hull, although with the graphical representation being unreliable there is no way to tell for sure. -
Yes. I ran the same test you did, except it was for a Huge QB meeting engagement. I ran it only 10 times, but my results were very similar to yours. In 5 of those iterations the AI purchased an all armor force. In 4 other iterations is choose some infantry, but still purchased at least 20 tanks. In 1 iteration it chose all infantry, but it was mechanized infantry fully mounted on halftracks. IMO the AI autopick is broken without a Combined Arms option to force the AI to spread out its points. As it stands if you want a truly "mixed" AI force you will have to pick it yourself.

List of Known Issues
Vanir Ausf B replied to Tank Hunter's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I see penetrations from small arms on occasion. I could be wrong, but I think this is bullets going through view ports or vision slits. -
Whose bright idea was it...

I say we blame Charles. Since he never seems to read this forum he won't mind. -
Hiding/Un-hiding
Vanir Ausf B replied to L. M. Murillo's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It does change, but what would be much nicer is if there was some indication on the UI that didn't require you to navigate to that orders pane to check. -
Poor encyclopedia in CM:BN
Vanir Ausf B replied to Knaust1's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
If they show the raw data to us they'll have to put up with us telling them it's wrong It think we're stuck with power bars until the Bulge game at least, when we get a new UI. -
Bug? Giving Ammo to Dead Guys
Vanir Ausf B replied to Vanir Ausf B's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Ah, good to know it was a false alarm. Thanks, guys. -
One member of my 2-man AT team gets hit. He's carrying some Bazooka ammo, so I get my Bazooka guy to give him buddy aid, hoping to recover some of the rounds. When the buddy aid finishes, 3 Bazooka rounds disappear from the healthy Bazooka man.

Frustrated with the camera control
Vanir Ausf B replied to shredder's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I think you have to bind the keys to side buttons to zoom in and out. -
3 things we need: 1) Target Armor Arc 2) Target Light Arc 3) 180° Target Arc shortcut

I don't know about Mac, but on PC Print Screen doesn't work. Use Fraps. -
Nomenclature+ for MGs on Tanks
Vanir Ausf B replied to GerryCMBB's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
On some models of Shermans the AAMG is mounted facing forward but to the left of the commander. It can be fired by the loader when he isn't busy loading. -
I have a suspicion the reason for it is something along the lines of: if they let infantry do it there is currently no way to prevent tanks from doing it too.

Thief Gold and Thief 2. Wonderful games!

As far as I know, they are completely cosmetic.

Russian Front? Make it so
Vanir Ausf B replied to Grisha's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
More convenience than marketing. They could reuse the German models and artwork from the Bulge and Normandy games since they cover the same time period. -
My Steelbook experience

So where is my steel BOOK, BFC!? My manual was printed on PAPER! (And from the browness of it, probably recycled paper  ) -
My Steelbook experience
Vanir Ausf B replied to LeadMeister's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well, this is an announcement of the "SteelBook Limited Collector Edition" on Worthplaying, dated March 10. http://worthplaying.com/article/2011/3/10/news/80297/ The announcement does link to what it calls a "SteelBox" video, although the video itself is labeled "SteelBook" I was not personally expecting a 100% metal case for my $5 extra, or whatever it was, but maybe I just had low expectations. I'm actually glad it's not all steel. DVDs are difficult enough to separate from plastic holders. -

Heinz Guderian lives in Tasmania, apparently. -

I think it was actually called a Steel Book. -
My Steelbook experience
Vanir Ausf B replied to LeadMeister's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Did people really think they were going to receive the game encased in a solid block of face-hardened armor, for just a few dollars extra? I really like the Steel Book. It's more attractive than what I expected. But I can't read that manual for more than a few minutes before my head hurts. -
Task organizing units during setup
Vanir Ausf B replied to Stndrtnfhr's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes, you can, and that's the only way around this restriction. You can delete the units from the Bn OOB and then repurchase them individually, assigning them to whatever command you wish. The downsides to this is that it costs more points to buy units individually, and you can't change your mind after you enter the unit setup.
