1. I'd like to be able to mod the inside of vehicles. Shame the skins aren't double-sided
2. mensch - your url in your sig still redirects to derkessel.com I ended up at Geocities - *shudder* *wash*
3.
quote:
Its a joke. Relax. Yes, every single Grand Turismo wannabe bouncing around in their home made drop kits and their fat chrome exhaust tips are representing the leading edge of small engine performance and are exactly what the parts companies are dying to sponsor.

Bwahahah! My favourites are the ones with their 1.2 Vauxhall Novas. They've got the chrome bog roll for the exhaust, they've used daddy's hacksaw to put vents in the bonnet, they've covered the insides of all the windows in black paint and saved up their lunch money for 9 months to buy a pair of cheap alloys. Gotta love 'em. It's only when they stop having such bad acne that they realise what chimps they are.

I tend to not use view 1 enough, and thus miss some important small elevation/terrain changes that you'll only see at the 'grunt's eye view.' <none of my pbem opponents heard that! ...i hope

Would that be the kind of important elevation changes that would affect the survivability of a pair of Shermans, by any chance? Soz silvio Hope the house move is all fine and dandy.
5. Have you tried resizing the units to realistic? That might give you a clearer idea of how much space you have.
6.
quote:
Ahem, excuse me mr. pinko commie but I have a right to my opinion

You're absolutely right. But I don't want to read it unless it's grammatically correct and uses grown-up stuff like punctuation. Besides, if you don't like those vehicles, don't USE them. Is it really that hard to understand?
7. No, some people don't. It's called life. I do - I'm lucky. I have no wife and no kids. Give the poor buggers working their fingers to the bone to provide a roof and food for their families a break, will you?
8. Really? I thought that I picked ok-ish units but it seemed like a really ahistorical mix for the AI. Well, you people know better than I do. Maybe I've been doing it wrong
9. Let's say that you had a FO within the command radius of a company HQ with +2 Combat. Would that affect the damage that the FO was able to inflict with artillery?
10. Judging by your sig, I can understand your point of view
11. Would you believe it? Whilst I was waiting for my PBEM turn to materialise, I decided to have a quick bash at the AI. I picked QB, Allies attacking, 500pts, Allies select units manually, March 1945 (almost entirely standard settings) and rural, moderate hills, moderate trees. For my part, I picked a Regular US company and a Regular Sherman (677 pts out of 750 - didn't use them all). As I hoped, the AI got his arse handed to him. No surprises on THAT front - but check out what he picked! 2 75mm AT guns 2 platoons Volksgrenadier SMG 1 Wespe 1 PSW 234/1 1 wooden MG bunker (487/500 pts) I mean, people complain about gamey players, but look at that! The AI is the biggest cheatin' so and so in the world! Where's the historical wossname? I mean, sure, not many regular companies had a sherman backing them up, but at least it wasn't a Jumbo or something. I'm going to blacklist him from MY games from now on.
12. I don't know about you people, but here in good old Blighty grass doesn't grow like that. If it's tall pines there won't BE any grass - it'll be pine needles and maybe patchy bracken. If it's heavy woods then It'll be dead leaves with patches of plants like bramble and rose bay willow herb. Light woods, you'll get very patchy grass, and lots of brush and hedges. It doesn't make sense to have it the same colour - since it isn't like that IRL.
13. I think that a hall of shame idea would be a good one. You could rate someone you've played from 1 to 5 - 1 being scum-sucking gamey wimpsoe, 5 being fair-playing, diamond geezer. I admit that to begin with it would be unbalanced, but as the scores added up for each player you'd start to see an average over a number of games which gave you an indication of the players that you could go up against.
14. So many positive waves man, like, maybe we can't lose
15. I don't think that the Russian figure includes civilians - Beevor offers a final total of 26 million, including civilians, for the Russians.
16. The man's trying to get the whole forum addicted to south african wines For those of us not playing, will there be AAR's and stuff for us to dribble over?
17. I apologise profusely for the moronic and feeble attempt of humour that was my first post on this thread. I am ashamed and can only say this in my defence - it was 8am, I was at work, my job sucks, and I needed some coffee. Sorry. OK?
18. You can buy 'Spotters Guides' in the shops. Go and get the 'Relative Spotters' one. It helps if you have a wide range of aunties and uncles at this point - otherwise spotting a low number of relatives amongst 6 billion people can get quite dull.
19. Yes, Japanese versus Commonwealth. Finally we could reverse the shame of that cretinous chimp General Percival. Mind you, somebody who had all their limbs sawn off and their brain replaced with a clockwork mickey mouse could do a better job than Percival.
20. Good plan. I second this motion. Or third it, depending on whether I type fast enough and someone's got there before me.
21. Incidentally, if you pick the Sparkle GEForce 32MB cards, they retail in the UK for around £45 - less than half of the price you'd pay for an Nvidia or Creative. Sure, they're not the branded model, but at that price I can't complain. I tend to use Micro Direct for my parts. /\ This was not a shameless plug. I just happen to use them, OK [ 06-05-2001: Message edited by: Soddball ]
22. LOL! That's ammo conservation if ever I saw it! NB - Caption actually reads: "Is that a Faustpatron in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?"
23. I've done my bit for queen and country. Now, you baggy-eared pantywasters, get over there and tick that vote box. It's on the right hand side of the page, near the bottom. You click on where it says 'Combat Mission' and press 'vote'. Even the Peng Thread boys should manage it after the third or fourth attempt
