Good point. Honestly, I can see player agreements to play early war scenarios as Russians utilizing human wave if victory is not just an impossible task under such conditions.

Hey MadMatt, When ya gonna have a Cincinnati Sneak Peak??
Agua replied to Echo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
LOL!!! Saw that one coming. -
Actually, that's a pretty good point that I've wondered about myself. Assuming early war Russian defenders are poorly armed and trained with low experience and, consequently, very, very cheap, the numbers have a quality all their own. Unless "human wave" has a value peculiarly well-adapted for the quality of the troops and the terrain that gives them an advantage, CM players will utilize the terrain and cover, covered fire tactics they've developed in CM.

CM Outpost --> CMBB Sneak Preview Report
Agua replied to kump's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
John, are you viewing with Netscape? I had the same experience but when I viewed it in IE, it's all there. Gary - Most entertaining preview report to date. Thanks. One more error: on page three, next to last sentence, you refer to CMBB as "Combat Mission: Beyond Barbarossa". -
Soviet Mine Dogs? LOL!!!

Hubert! Everything's cool man. I'm not even big on grand strategic games but I'm going to buy a copy just because of the help you personally provided to me in getting the beta demo up and running man. (*Gives Hubert a "Grinning Bill Clinton Thumbs-Up"*)

Army in WW2 Green Book Series - FYI: New Info!
Agua replied to Frenchy's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Received mine today. Fantastic! The intro material states that this is the first of a seven-part release in CD format. Thanks for the heads up on this series Frenchy; I don't know how long it would have taken me to have stumbled across this on my own, if I ever did. -
How about a formation option for setup?
Agua replied to Agua's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Bumping this because it's a damned good suggestion and maybe there's a shot that it can be implemented. -
My (European) take on the CDV distribution brouhaha
Agua replied to Turbo Demon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Damned Pete! I will get you a US copy, okay? Send me the money in US $ plus shipping and handling and I'll get you a US copy. You've got my e-mail, but its in the profile. -
Yes. I think it comes off as a very impressed reviewer given his lack of familiarity with such games. Congrats Hubert. With the Gamespot review of AA:RDoA and this one, BFC is racking up the props.

Another worthless poll: Who's buying CMBB?
Agua replied to LGMB's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
If anyone else is just so put out that they can't handle a CDV copy, I'll get a NA copy for a few of you. I won't scalp anything on it, but I'm not going in a hole on it either, so US dollars + shipping and handling from BTS to me, and me to you. My e-mail is in my profile. -
Setting the Record Straight FAQ
Agua replied to Battlefront's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Look, for all you guys that STILL won't let it drop, there are no competent lawyers in their right MIND that are going to advise their client "well, it's unclear to me whether this is going to cause problems with the criminal law, and political considerations within the ratings board may weigh against you, but you might get away with it so, go ahead". That's just not how you protect your client. Any distribution through any company that is competently represented by legal counsel operating in the same environs is going to give the same advise if the state of facts concerning the inclusion of references and icons of NS is as I am understanding it. Steve just said they lose out on a HUGE market if they didn't do the deal with CDV. They've got to feed their families, man. That's not a sell-out, that's common f#ing sense. The game is not going to be changed in one slightest bit except for textual reference to "SS" and the SS rune icon. Have no doubt that SOMEONE will very quickly create an SS rune icon bmp mod. I can't believe you guys are making such a big damned deal over over changing "Waffen SS" to "Waffen Grenedier" in a few lines of text. Give it a f#cking rest, PLEASE! Man, I seldom get upset on these boards. In fact, there's too many posts of mine punctuated with all over this place. But the time BFC, BTS, BFE, KFC or whatever they want to call themselves nowadays ( couldn't resist) has to spend responding to this BS is now hurting the inclusion of units in the game, so stop it, for the sake of everyone, stop it, please!! -
Another worthless poll: Who's buying CMBB?
Agua replied to LGMB's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
This suggests an important point: what about multiple purchases by a single buyer? Personally, I'm going to buy at least 4 copies, initially. I really would feel bad though if the purchase of three of those copies kept other long time community members from getting their copies. I hope you guys have a LARGE initial stock available, and if not, orders above a single copy will be placed on back order to enable everyone to get a copy early. -
Setting the Record Straight FAQ
Agua replied to Battlefront's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
PLEASE STEVE, don't drop a vehicle for this. Don't even bother responding to anything in this thread. Anyone else with any gripes about whatever is crappy about CDV, PLEASE, just drop it as you're costing us units now. -

Agua replied to Frenchy's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thanks. Picked up the B&W pictorial as well. -
Glad to see the Outpost back! Whenever I attempted to get some of my buds from other wargames to give CM a try, I'd include a link to the Outpost as an example of what a fully-modded version of the game could look like.

Anyone using flamethrowers consistently well?
Agua replied to Shooter's topic in Combat Mission - Tips and Tricks
hmmm... In QB's on defense in a village or town, I find them useful to deny the attacker use of buildings immediate to my MLR. -
Congrats! I recommend playing that entire series for a good set of training scenarios as they are small, short and provide varied attached units to your base infantry coy. You should learn a lot playing through those.
