  1. Some details are just unintended side effects, like this case I believe. But there are indeed merely cosmetic details. In the AAR screen, the distinction between number of men KIA and number wounded is just meaningless fluff.
  2. Seems odd since its precisely the firing slit that you need to hit to take out a bunker.
  3. Interesting suggestions. On custom maps it always looks good if you integrate the contours with the type of cover. For example you can always have pines on south facing slopes up to a certain altitude and trees on the north slopes. Soft ground at the low points etc. Doing this sort of thing systematically would probably support the eye in reading the contours, though I never thought of it that way.
  4. As long as you are playing with Fog of War, the AI won't know your gun is there till it gets spotted. And even once it does know it's there, the AI will still not develop a strategy to deal with the gun . Its tanks will continue driving into the gun's LOF and stuff like that.
  5. Ah, well as long as the point is just to annoy emrys I'm all for it.
  6. I'm not second. I'm around tenth. That list is messed up, as others have said. Dang, just got one more.
  7. It's called a 'hobby'. Can you say that? 'hooooobbbbbyyyyy'. It's what people do when they already have a life and need to get away from it for a while.
  8. Egad! I think you're right, that must be him. Poor sod.
  9. Hey Nidan can you send a friggin turn already? The suspense is killing me! (I mean it's not like you have any units left to give orders to, right?)
  10. Interesting point. You may have said it before, but it's the first time I've heard it. And I have to say I agree with the idea.
  11. As Madmatt said, MEs are a somewhat artificial situation. It happened, but not nearly as often as the attack/defence kinds of scenarios. To me this would be a reason to optimize balance in MEs, i.e. that both sides can get more or less the same amount of artillery bang. Because MEs are used by players who want a competitive balanced game... the same sorts of players who would welcome an option where allies play against allies or axis against axis, to get perfectly balanced kit. So I don't think any arguments from realism or availability should apply to MEs. Gameability, playability and balance should be the overriding concern there. 12. I want, and have always wanted three things in CM: telephone poles, aid stations and field kitchens. Oh and brothels. That's four things. And a corpse where every guy fell. That's five. And dead cows.
  13. Wouldn't it make sense, then, for the company HQ to be divided into two groups so that the CO and the exec can't both be taken out by the lucky mortar round?
  14. Maybe you guys are both right. The company commander, first sergeant, a radioman and runner would be at the front (a tactical bound behind the lead platoon's HQ postion), while a bunch of other radio-types would be at another location farther back.
  15. It would be nice if BFC would at least tell us what it is if. If it's at their host, perhaps a sysop there can explain it. </font>
  16. Problem still here, but it seems to have started half an hour later today: at 0400 EST rather than 0330.

  18. Without command delays, it'd be impossible to simulate the differences between, say, German and Russian communications. I'd never attack in '41 if the T-34's were as reactive as my tin can panzers. </font>
  19. You are right. The waypoint delay was a terrible addition to the game, poorly conceived and poorly executed. It should never have been added.

  21. Nothing to be ashamed for. I've gotten lots of good games at that place I linked to
  22. Ah. Someone else already said that. Serves me right for responding before finishing reading the thread.
