  1. For my new pc , i bought a Nvidia Geforce FX5900 card ( Asus V9950/TD ) Im puzzled which drivers i will install first, the 45.23 or the 52.16 I read the 45.23 are more reliable for most games ?? Second question: What are the oldest drivers i can go back which are ok for this card ? Please share your experiences. Monty [ November 08, 2003, 04:53 PM: Message edited by: Monty ]
  2. Hi As far as i know, its the other way around. The patches (1.01,1.02 and 1.03) add new vehicles, so when you play a NEW scenario with an un-patched CMBB , it can crash but not when you play an old or default scenario with a default 1.0 CMBB or 1.03 CMBB. Scenario's under development can be played the same after installing the patches, nothing will change afaik btw you need to install ALL patches, so first 1.01, then 1.02 and 1.03. Keep the default .exe ( rename it) and make links to both .exe's after patching so you can play both 1.0 and 1.03 if you want. Monty [ November 07, 2003, 05:38 AM: Message edited by: Monty ]
  3. Same here hehehe, still no demo :-( Monty
  4. If all games you play work ok, i'll say no reason to update drivers. Newer drivers can give an increase in performance for some (new) games, but "can" give problems with CM. Its all a tryal and error case. For CM, the detonator 30.82 drivers seem to be the best allround drivers.
  5. Just a thing to try first: Try again with anti-virus disabled (have read about problems with McAfee enabled) It seems some files are missing because the main screen loads ok....check if all scenario's are in the scenario folder (read about problems with that) If this fails, Schrullenhaft have to answer you.... 6. Yeah, as Commander of the British forces in North Africa i DEMAND a release date ! Monty
  7. I would say buy the best Nvidia card for the money (if you want fog in CM) Driver: 30.82 for nvidia works good for CM, higher can work also, go back to 30.82 if problems. Monty
  8. Psssst... i have to admit something guys. My forum name Monty is NOT related to the English general but to my first cat who's name was MONTY Why i name my cat Monty i hear you thinking. Well, i liked the name and i was not into wargaming at all at that time (1986). My CM name is Moose or Mossie btw. Monty
  9. Try to minimalize the amount of doodles?,you know the specially grass textures. Shift N i think. Also lower trees with shift T Those 2 can give very low fps in CMBB. Monty
  10. I understand you have a graphics controller on your mainboard, NOT a seperate video card, is that right ? If so, im afraid you have to buy a video card to play CM properly. Do you play other games , and without problems ? Monty
  11. I guess you allready tried to install directly from the harddisk ( copied the installer file to harddisk ) ? How large is the "Wav" folder in your CM main folder ??? Mine in CMBO is 224 mb. I think you can use "winrar" to open the install file (its one big file) and then manually copy the wav files to the Wav folder, this should do the trick. Check also in the scenario folder if all scenarios are there ( around 50 i think ) But i have no idea WHY the install dont work ok when you install directly from the hd. 12. I would like to see WW I or Napoleon time warfare, but i think that would be hard to play on the CM scale because those wars used mostly HUGE amount of infantery attacks so CM would have to increase the max units used which would increase the minimum specs for pc dramatically. But WW II is my favourite war period so i wont be sad if CM sticks to WW II Monty [ October 20, 2003, 05:18 AM: Message edited by: Monty ]
  13. In your case, you need indeed somebody who lives in the USA and buys CMBB ( i think you mean CMBB? ) for you and ships it to you in Japan. If you have some PBEM buddies living in the USA, ask them very nicely and i give you a good chance they agree. I live in Holland so i cant help you, sorry. For CMAK it will be no problem, because you can buy it directly from the BFC site (when CMAK is out) Monty
  14. I have W98SE with a Geforce 4 Ti4400 I use now the 44.03 drivers without problems ( 1 known issue is i can only use antialiasing 0 or antialiasing 4x, with 2x i cant start CM ) Text problems are often solved by escaping (or alt tab) to the desktop and returning to the game again. Try those first, if you get problems with CM, i would recomment the 30.82 drivers. Monty
  15. Nice idea's, its tool ate anyway to get them into CMAK or did you ask for these features before ? Monty
  16. Fantastic good news COG !! I frequently visit your site to browse the mods, i always download a few each time Monty
  17. They reserved those names for beef dishes. </font>
  18. My Lite-on CD drive crashed after one year of service, with a CD in it (CD in a thousand pieces hehehe ) I now have a 56x A-Open drive. Both play and recognise CMBO and CMBB without problems. They are very cheap though, i think they are made for only 1 or 2 years the most Monty
  19. I can e-mail you the patch if you want. Monty
  20. To run CMBB, you need to have the disk in your drive always. Try this: Burn the .exe on a normal CD and try to use this CD to start CMBB with, i recall somebody wrote this works. Im not shure however! I know some CD/DVD drives dont read the CMBO/CMBB , especially the newer ones. I just bought a new 56x drive (just CD, 25$) and this one have no problem at all with CMBB. Did you try the antivirus deactivate ? Monty [ October 13, 2003, 07:59 AM: Message edited by: Monty ]
  21. You mean you cant even install CMBB ? I have read about this problem more, sometimes the problem was an active McAffee antivirus program. Try to deactivate your antivirus, if that does not do the trick try to copy the installer program ( the whole file from your CMBB disk ) to your harddrive and install from your harddrive. Last trick is to temporary install the Sony drive on your main computer and install from it. If you can install but the drive cant read the cd, you have a problem yes, in that case you need a no-cd patch. I have not found one for CMBB yet (i have one for CMBO) Goodluck, Monty [ October 12, 2003, 08:50 AM: Message edited by: Monty ]
  22. Welcome to CMBB ! Inf in trenches ? Best is to pinn them with HE shells and some mortars and mg's i would say, then move your inf and your armor forward to finish the job. So you need SUPERIOR firepower because inf in a trench is hard to pinn anyway. Second way is to use smoke to block LOS, but this is a tricky way  Monty [ October 11, 2003, 06:33 PM: Message edited by: Monty ]
  23. Yes, but only if you look like this (no wigs, Klocks are optional). Hubba hubba </font>
