  1. And after all this is said, why didn't you bring up this price issue that is driving you so crazy BEFORE you bought the game? Mord.
  2. My glorious wonderful, awsomely awsome woman took me out Friday night and bought me a new 19 inch, 18 viewable monitor to better enjoy Combat Mission! I am one happy guy! Mord
  3. I don't care how historically accurate bike riding Nazi are. It is definately something that DOES NOT need to be modeled. In WWII guys bled when they were shot. Pieces of their bodies flew when they were blowed up. They turned black and crispy and smoked alot when they got fried. I don't see any of that. I'd say that is pretty historically accurate. But it isn't included in the game. So why do we need the Huffywaffe? Mord
  4. I hear Extreme Paintball is going for $4.99 at Kmart. Have fun! Mord.
  5. Man oh man! I want in on this one! I sold 30 computer games to a place that buys used console and PC games here in FLA...included in these titles were Diablo, Starcraft,Age of Empires with all it's expansions, CC2 and 3, Baldur's Gate with the Swordcoast expansion and a slew of others, because I didn't have the cash available to buy CM. I told the lady give me 65 bucks and all 30 are yours. I never looked back and don't care that I gave up those games for so little,'cause in my mind all I did was trade them for CM. And it is and always will be a HELLUVA trade! I would pay whatever Combat Mission cost. No Joke. If it had cost a hundred I'd flipped the bill for it and smiled gleefully while doing it. The game is infinitely replayable with all the tools you need to create the battle scenarios from history or imagination. It is exactly like having all those cool plastic soldiers I had as a child, with my comp substituting as a sand box. I feel the same glorious wonder I did as a boy playing army men in the dirt. If that ain't worth 45 bucks I don't know what is. Mord. [This message has been edited by Mord (edited 11-05-2000).]
  6. The Mod Sluts have spoken. My interest is definitely peaked! Mord
  7. Man oh man this Squad Leader Fiasco gets worse and worse everyday! What a boneheaded play Hasbro made with this piece of crud. The shame of it is, is that they have so much dough it won't matter to them if the game flops or not. If it did matter it wouldn't be this pathetic. I think all the ASL fans out there outta get together and mass email them some hate. Maybe they'd get there heads outta their butts? Makes me wonder whats gonna happen to D&D now. Mord
  8. The most complex game of all I'd say was keeping you guys on the topic in here . Mord
  9. You are a busy man these days kump! Your efforts are appreciated and I think your site is great! Good luck with it and I will surely be visiting it....OFTEN! Mord
  10. in plain english how to extract the sound wavs or whatever they are from CC3? I'd like to open the file they are bound up in so I can make wavs from them? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks. Mord
  11. Johnno I try demos and research by reading reviews and the such, but what I was mainly getting at was all the hype before a game is released when your hoping beyond hope that certain company will get certain game right, when others couldn't. Now I am, as a gamer, fairly unforgiving. I have played some games that were torn apart by game mags that I found enjoyable. Trespasser being one. I played it before I read anything about it and was blown away. It had some flaws but I was really into it. The reviews would have kept me from ever finding all those wonderful hours of gaming bliss. So taste is subjective. And at times I think all of us as a whole may be alittle harsh on the game makers. But when a company touts it's newest creation as the best thing since sliced bread and the screenshots and previews from various mags say yes this one looks good and it sucks more than a 4 dollar Vietnamese hooker I get pissed. and I say oh well maybe such and such game will be the one. play before you pay is definately a great idea but even that may be misleading. Well we are lucky enough to where the cream rises and we get to see products like Doom, Simcity, Civ, and of course our beloved CM so I guess it ain't all bad. And Bruno nice reply way up there. Thanks for responding. Mord [This message has been edited by Mord (edited 11-01-2000).]
  12. I am hoping one thing, by the time CM makes the entire round of WWII theaters I hope it will come full circle and fresh up the west front 44-45 with all the latest improvements and technology. Comabat Mission Beyond Overlord 2. And I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will see a Pacific Theater done. But if it was a choice between an updated version of CMBO or the pacific I'd probably go with CMBO. And please no replies to this that involve "I'd love to play a pacific game where all my guys hide in caves and my opponent spends 30 rounds walking around through the jungle blah blah blah" Save that wittiness for anyone posting something about Vietnam. Mord
  13. Just so you can see where I am comming from on this I want to give you an example of something a teenager at my old job said one night. It is a long the same lines as having a bad view point of the US during wartime she says: "We should never have been involved in WWII all the Americans did were rape and kill. They raped all kinds of women in France. They should ban war." My jaw hit the floor twice. This was such a stupid and idiotic statemnet that even the teenage busboys were dumbfounded by this moronic girl. I said something like "You never took the fact into consideration that world domination was the reason we were fighting? If we hadn't entered that war most likely we'd be goose stepping right now and eating sushi by the boat load" I went on and on and so did the bus boys and I finally think she realized how stupid she sounded. Is this what they are teaching our kids in school now a days? WWII was nothing more than a reason to rape French chicks and kill some people? Jeeeeeez! Sorry about the rant fellas I am getting carried away.... and all this cause of a movie script. Mord
  14. I'm not quite sure how to respond to these. I did find them funny but at the same time they piss me off. I understand that these are parodies but even then a person's views can shine through. And this guy sounds like some kinda AntiAmerican hippy ass. I don't recall WWII as a warmongering act of American agression as this jerkoff seems to think it was. I could go on for a very long time but I am not going to. I will spare myself and the rest of you guys the anger I am feeling. Hopefully I missed the point and this was not taking shots at my country just the movies themselves. And there is nothing uncool about being a patriot. I am a longhaired metalhead, who chased many chicks, drank many beers and saw many bands. Not exactly the wet dream image of the all american boy but I am still a patriot and I love my country as many of you on here love yours. Mord
  15. Excellent work Marco! You are one of the savored masters of the vehicle mods. If this keeps up I'm gonna need a bib for me and a splash guard for my monitor. Mord.
  16. Mine was 1776 by AH. I gathered the dough to buy it raking leaves. I was living in Maine at the time and the fall always brought out a desire for things that involved the Civil War and Revolutionary War...something in the air I guess. Anyway I bought the game and my friend and I spent about two to three hours one afternoon setting it up and twisting our fourteen year old minds around the weird fractions that involved movement and battle. Well to make a very long story short we gave up for a while. We left the game set up intact in his living room but when we returned his little sister had dropped a tact nuke on 18th century New England. That was the end of that. I returned to more mundane board gaming like Awful Green Things From Outter Space and Attack of the Mutants. Ahh the good ol' days. Mord [This message has been edited by Mord (edited 11-01-2000).]
  17. Good work my friend! You have done a wonderful job and the before and after pictures are a great help. I am the middle man in the war of dark and light and like both. Just looking for that perfect combo. And this sight will help tremendously. Mord.
  18. You are like a one man armor factory Tiger. GREAT stuff! Thanks! Mord
  19. Kwazy Dog wrote: In CM2 we will see better and higher res textures. I am also hoping we will be able to have more variation amongst vehicles on the battlefield, more building types and textures, building damage and rubble, more trees, more terrain types and textures, new fire, and more and better backgrounds just to name a few. BOING! I am definately aroused now. Mord. [This message has been edited by Mord (edited 10-30-2000).] [This message has been edited by Mord (edited 10-30-2000).]
  20. I am running a 32meg card. Have been for some time cause I loves the 3D!! I dig the graphics in CM and I am a long time twitcher, ever since Doom. If they improve the graphics in CM I'll be happy. If they don't I'll be happy. I just pray that the ability to modify the uniforms, tanks, vehicles, buildings and such always remains no matter how advanced the graphics become. For me that is a HUGE bonus with this awsome game. You get tired of one tank...you switch it for another. Viola! New graphics!! And the game play is untouched what more could a guy want? Mord
  21. A point that I have yet to be seen made here is why don't computer game companies make games for computer gamers? The fans know what they want. From an FPS guy to RPG gal to wargamers, we know what we like. Why don't they cater to that. Instead of looking to stock Walmart shelves with next week's bargin bin ooze. I have been disapointed soooo many times by hyped up screen shots and "Our game is gonna be this and our game is gonna do that" Computer companies have to do two things: Lose the hype and TAKE THEIR TIME and make a quality product. I don't mind waiting if I know that when I get that special game that has taken a year longer than expected that it will be great. So I had to wait...much better than dropping forty bucks on another turd that doubles as a combo frisbee/coaster. Some of these games are so HYPED up that alot of times they could never in a million years stand up to what they have touted. If they pocketed the money they spend on advertising and put it into the game maybe there wouldn't be so much crap takin' up space at EB or Babbages or what have you. the splash screen for Combat Mission alone is worth a thousand copies of Diakatana! And they HYPED that regurgitated snotball for 2 years or so!! Luckily for us there are still some companies out there that care about the gamer and in turn are gamers themselves, so they know how the other half lives. Thanks BTS for not giving us a hyped up bowl of cat vomit. you guys Rock! Mord
