  1. I guess i got really lucky in one of my PBEMs. The PzIII was knocked out with top penetration from molotov. The squad that threw the molotov was on higher ground, than the tank.
  2. Yes. Wonder why. Seems that all the necessary things are there, map import, troop import. However troop import for some reason works only with ended battles. Pitty... On second thought it is probably impossible to avoid some cheating issues with PBEMs. Also true. But it's just too big hassle. I wanted a simple and quick solution which apparently isn't there.
  3. Perhaps i wasn't clear enough. What i want is to play the battle against AI until the end. And then play the same battle (again, against AI) but from the other side.
  4. Hi! Is it possible to replay a QB from both sides? Say, you set up a quickie, save it on turn one, and after you've fought it out, say, as Allies, play the exactly same battle from the Axis perspective loading the turn one file? The manual is scarce on this. I tried to use the "Load from file" button in the QB map selection dialogue, but it doesn't import any troops. Does troop import works only with ended battles?
  5. Didn't work. One other strange thing is CMBB icon is shown as generic application icon even after rebuilding desktop.
  6. Oh forgive me for posting this topic, cause i've searched... I have PowerBook G3 (Wallstreet). Few days ago i installed CMBB, but when launching it, it switches from original 1024x768 resolution to 800x600, and then the "800x600 error message" appears. In one topic i found in this forum, it was told that Classic Rave extension should be removed. I did that, but the problem persists. System details: PowerBook G3, 233 MHz 128 RAM, ATI Rage LT Pro video card. Mac OS 9.2.2.
  7. I beg to differ. The final "e" in "Bozhe" is definetely NOT pronounced as "uh". It's prononced like "e" in... hmm.. "tiger". As for the "lah-ZHEES", it may sound like that when shouting and the word gets "streched". But the normal pronouncation still is "lozhis", with "i" like in "kit".
  8. Yeah, and the beer is cheep. Give me a note when you come again, we could visit the museum together (last time i went there, my age was in single digits). Also there is very interesing private museum devoted to Festung Kurland, some 70km from Riga. They even have an IS-2 there (in a poor condition, thou).
  9. Hey, first time i see somebody from Latvia here. I'm from Riga too! And still living there. And that book was one of my favorite back in child days, especially the part where Janek and Vasily went to the immobilized Panther and knocked out 3 or 4 german tanks with it. Perhaps we could start a PBEM? My E-mail is in the profile.
  10. Hey, that's from "Chetire tankista i sobaka" (Four "tankists" and the dog), one of my favorite books in the childhood... Haven't seen the movie thou. According to that book, the fourth guy was shooting hull machinegun and operated a radio (also an assistant driver). I wonder thou, what was he doing when there were no radios in early years T34? The commander of the tank however should've been pretty busy, shooting main gun, commanding the tank, communicating with other tanks via flags and decorating the turret with Christmas tree branches.
  11. Yep. 2 wires, one AP minefield and 2 roadblocks.
  12. Hi! Just finished an afternoon quickie against AI. Thanks to heroic effort of 57mm AT gun (3 StuHs, 1 PzIII and a halftrack) and a nice map, i won big time. There were no casualties on my side. Now, looking at the upper part of AAR screen – Statistics – there are no Allied casualties listed. However, in the lower part - Points - there are 49 points awarded to the Axis, for enemy casualties. Which means that Axis AI gets 4% victory which is gamey, historically incorrect and it hurts my ego. Is this a common/known issue or there is some logic behind it (like, i've spent lots of ammo killing all these krauts)? File is available.
  13. Also, another variable which, i guess is not taken into account here, is the weight of the snow. From my avalanche lessons: one cubicmeter of fresh "dry" snow (powder) weighs little more than 100kg. Same cubic meter, but wet, can weigh up to 800kg. BIG difference.
  14. And in CMBB, if you don't want the HQ team to shoot (and reveil their position), but spot for the mortar, set the minimum covered arc.
  15. Just need to vent a little bit, and it seems this is appropriate place. Played a small operation against AI (I was attacking with Germans), and was given Stukas (two of them, i think). On the first pass, Stuka attacked my StuG, knocking it out, pulverizing the HMG team, which was riding on it, and knocking out three 50mm mortars, which were having a smoke nearby. And Company HQ unit suffered three casualties. But that's not all during the subsequent 5-7 turns the bloody stuka-hamster attacked my infantry squads with cannons and machineguns. I was so happy when it went away... Lesson: if your airplane attacks you once, be very carefull as it probably will attack you again.
  16. Is it just me, or the Italy screenshots in some way resembles the CMBO? In some good, nostalgic way.
  17. Both sides combined or? It's not mentioned in the manual however.
  18. Now it has happened two times in a row. In two QBs against AI, i've got a "minor defeat, because both sides have agreed to cease fire". It was around turn 30 out of 40. I was attacking in an all infantry battle, and flags were still under enemy's control (pinned, panicked and broken squads). My morale in one case was up at 88%. I'm 100% percent sure that i didn't press cease-fire button, and more over, didn't press "YES" in the following dialogue box. Very annoying.
  19. Is it a scenario? I would be very interested in playing scenarios from that area.
  20. Just go into Editor and by a Battalion. You'll see a detailed breakdown, down to the last weapon. Both German and Soviet. Any timeframe in WWII. Not sure about reinforced battalion.
