Wallybob replied to mike8g's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Outstanding sir, outstanding. Many thanks. -
Crap, this is not the forum I intended. I meant to post this to the thread about Bad CDs. My apologies BFC, please kill this or adjust to target.
-
My CD is kefluiee also. Order # 80813 Thanks for the info on the files to download. IT WORKS! I still wouldn't mind getting a correct CD.

Yeah, 16 years on the buggers. Pivot steering IS in fact faster than turning on the move.

Verily and in truth ye spaketh mightily. Woe betide us whom the light of CMBB hath not reached. Have faith. It's a mother-beautiful game, and it's gonna be there. (to parapharase Kelly's Heroes)

Any die hard CMBOers not buying CMBB?
Wallybob replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
And I fully expect CMBB to be at least it's equal, if not far superior. I will still play CMBO. It is danged GOOD. But I will also play CMBB. I have great expectations for it. I just want it to arrive NOW. Sorry for the rant. -
MADMATT! Read this please :)
Wallybob replied to Volker's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I feel like I am watching a rerun of Monty Python's Life of Brian where in a stadium they talk about the Peoples Front of Judea, the Judean Peoples Front, and then they mention the Peoples front for the liberation of Jueda, and they all yell "SPLITTER". George Washington warned us in his Farewell Address about the dangers of factions. BFC will set up their boards as they see fit. If MadMatt and company wish a forum for Mods, shazam it's there. If not....(crickets noise) Really, I am just posting this while I ponder over a barley-pop about when my copy of CMBB will arrive. -
BFC - Release Date Shipping Question
Wallybob replied to MrSpkr's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I gotta admit (with my Alabamian-East-of-the-Mississippi-self)that this whole(European taunting)thread has been (oh, yeah, Canadians too...danged Quebec folks[too close to Europeans]) I will enjoy all this stuff, and whenever my game gets here (soon I hope) it will get here. Until then, I can but laugh at shortness of temper. That and eat daid things that most other countries justly decry as "roadkill". Spam. LOL Yeah, and I challenge most anyone here to PBEM. Just 'cause. -
Steve, How are pre-sales going in USA?

I don't know about A, but as far a B goes, it WAS a political, not a military objective. Both sides wanted to be the ones to roll thru Berlin. Eisenhower thought he had worked a deal with the Soviets that they would both work towards the military objective of destroying the German Army by heading towards Southern Germany (Dresden or so) but Stalin pushed his commanders towards Berlin. It was...politically important. Consider the propagana value.

CMBO vs CMBB demo - poor scenarios
Wallybob replied to Scipio's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Ok, either you like the demo, or you don't. I personally do. 1) buy the game 2)don't buy it 3)wait a while for opinions and reviews endlessly whining about what you want or don't is counterproductive. BFC had reasons they put out what they did on the demo. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt. I have already preordered, and will probably make this a Christmas present or two to some gaming-minded friends. It's a mother-beautiful game, and it's gonna be there! (to paraphrase Oddball) -
No serious disrepect intended here, but this idea is/was not thought out very well. I would not like to play any sort of game like you had proposed, and would consider it uncultured, uncivilized, and needlessly hurtfull to many people. I am also waiting to see how long THIS thread will go before it also is rightly cut off by admin.

Russian infantry attacking - realism or a joke?
Wallybob replied to OGSF's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hint: Stalin had NKVD Battalions following the troops with machine guns, and Zampolit (political officers)...advising...the commanders of units. -
I have a bias, I used to speak Russian. Long ago in a galaxy far away. Having a switch b/w languages would be a valid compromise.
-
Davai is "move", or "move out", Buistry is "faster" As long as there is a site with translations, I feel that the language simply immerses you more deeply in the environment. Unless you LIKE bad B movies from the '50s. Vee Haf Vays of Makink you Talk.

Please bring back the shockwaves......!
Wallybob replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
How about some compromise? Having seen many a 155mm Arty round or 105/120mm tank round impact, you can usually see one heck of a lot of dust kicked up. Not the shockwave (which I love) of CMBO. Dust. A lot of it depending upon the size of the round, and if it was airburst or impact. Love the demo, and have my credit card charged up and waiting to line up to buy CMBB! On the way!!!! -
Please bring back the shockwaves......!
Wallybob replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Me, too. The CMBO shockwaves are cool. And somehow satisfying when you see a building full of baddies take a hit. -
Has this happened to anyone else? Citadel, when using the + key to go from unit to unit, when I get to the first bailed out crew it dumps me back to desktop. Repeatedly. It only started to happen when I had 2 bailed crews. Thanks
