  1. Interesting discussion, for those that have not seen "Darkest Hour" and want a pretty interesting insight into the decision making process to keep fighting despite it looking quite grim it is well worth seeing. It chimes with the importance of strong leadership during moments of unimaginable darkness, Stalin was perhaps in right place at right time? Of course you then also have to have the means to follow up any political will, but without the initial will you have nothing....
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/technology-42643790/ces-2018-intel-s-swarm-of-drones-lights-up-vegas-night-sky Warfare is changing and firework displays too...
  3. Thanks for the responses, I guess it would need those as no easy way to navigate without. Was hoping there was a magical controller, but should have really thought it through. Roald Dahl made himself a great laptop desktop for writing on while in his favourite chair. I will maybe take that as inspiration, as Mords option is a bit too much like those in hospital.
  4. Ears picked up.... @Cpt what do you use to control the game on the TV? Mouse and keyboard sat on your lap?
  5. Yes nerfed - So read the instructions and activate the Module - had to find the option in Program files... Appears to have now sorted it..
  6. Quick question... I downloaded full installer and ran it over my original installation - all worked OK and I entered my v3 key and it worked showing text that it was now on Engine 4. However my Gustav module was missing.. So I found the Gustav Exe and installed module again... Used my Gustav Key and Module now installed.. However it now shows that I am on V1.10 and does not show I am on engine 4 at the main menu screen. Have I nerfed the upgrade?
  7. This was my attempt at trying to get feedback on good scenarios. There are similar threads in the other forums...
  8. I was just trying to get the tanks under the bridge but one jumped onto the bridge, known bug at time... Bloody annoying but i did not need it in the end...
  9. So after watching my save games I can see I pushed my squads forward and created some kill zones beyond the initial set up zone. I have put the saves into a dropbox folder so if anyone else is stuck I can share the folder with you. I have various save games all the way through the scenario and I even got hit by the %odding bug bridge so some of my armour did not make it to the battle at the end being stuck on the bridge...
  10. OK I have finally got Version 4 on computer and loaded up your file. It is Turn Back the Tide and again after 3 years I can still remember this game. Not many games that can do that for me, this scenario was fun and tough... Will spend some time on it and give you some pointers, I guess it might depend on what you managed to keep alive from previous games. If you think this one is tough wait for Hunner Park!!!
  11. Wow harsh words indeed... I have just loaded up my old save files from 3 years ago to see what help I can offer. I think the scenario in question is Hunner Park. As I can remember that scenario and the hell I went through (but won) I must say Paper Tiger is a Master Designer and these words are too harsh. Just getting version 4 upgrade and will have a crack at helping, also it is a return to CM after a break for Witcher and Game Of Thrones (never watched series but got box set and working my way through them to catch up with everyone...) So might be on look out for some PBEM fun at some stage... Winter is over and I am coming out of hibernation.
  12. I will pm you and see if i can remember playing this.
  13. If you are trying to draw comparison with Ukraine it is no where the same, not even in the same ball park. America has up to now done it's best to focus on Isis and not intentionally attacked Syrian forces. The forces involved have been minimal and capped. Isis have attacked Europe and present and clear threat to Europe and America. So not unreasonable for forces to be dispatched against them as Syria has been acting as a safe haven for them. Especially as Syria can clearly not deal with Isis alone. Perhaps if the Syrian government had listened to people's grievances rather than murdering them this situation would not be where it is now...
  14. So Husker2142 are you saying no Russian military forces in Ukraine? Yet another attempt to derail this thread.. So sad we have so many mushrooms...
  15. Yawn..... Try adding something useful? Are you able to do that?
  16. And so the thread gets derailed.... DMS say something useful related to the thread? Any chance? Haiduk sets the standard, can you meet it, beat it?
  17. I guess humor is in the eye of the beholder... To me this is trolling again... I would love for our Russian friends to post similar reports as Haiduk has but from the opposition angle. I guess they can not as they know nothing and add nothing to this thread. Prove me wrong... Haiduk your restraint does you proud...
  18. +200 As for those constantly attacking, please prove us wrong and give us the same level of reports as Haiduk from the alternative perspective, we would love to see that level of reporting.
  19. Please stop trolling this thread..... The discussion is about the actions of Russia in Ukraine and military focused. Your continued trolling is not helping the thread...
  20. What bollocks... ". I guess they started to realize that war won't be over until Washington allows it" Please stop trolling this thread. Russia is the sole cause of this war and a bully picking on their neighbours.
  21. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-38905110 Looks like more leader's not obeying the true leadership? I wonder at what point do the rebels pack up if there leader's are being taken out by own side.
  22. Hmmm, I am not Steve and I think he might have a different view. I guess it is not a question for here, but at what point do you concede to aggression against you to save lives? Should the Syrians have said hey better to live under a dictator than rubble. Anyway not a question that can be answered here. Haiduk thanks for the insight of your opinion on how the Ukraine population feel.
  23. From Steve's analysis and if I understand him that will not be the case if Russia continues the charade that they are not involved. But if Russia drops that then yes Ukraine will be beaten but at what cost to Russia? Either way the people are victims to the meddling of Putin and Russia who have no business being in Ukraine. Is "freedom" worth dying for? Depends on your pov and if you are the old lady stuck in the war zone or someone safe away from it all. If you stand up against a bully be prepared for a bloody nose.
