  1. ROFLMAO!!!!!!! Thanks for the cheer up!
  2. At the end of this month, I'll be getting MEDAL OF HONOR: FRONTLINE for my PS2. I was hoping the DEMO would be out by then, so I could balance play between the two. If its not out by then however, FRONTLINE should keep me busy until it arrives. Is anyone else here picking up a copy? There is free Overnight Shipping at EB online. I think the DEMO will DEFINATELY arrive a while before the full game does. My evidence is this: Hubert recently said that he would think about implementing variable Action Points for non-major Corps, etc... but that even if he did this, it would NOT be in the DEMO. That has to mean that the DEMO is coming soon, and that he will still be putting some touches on the final game after that... doesn't it?
  3. Okay, IIRC there are 5 levels of difficulty, plus the ability to give either side a MPP and or XP bonus. So, what does the level of difficulty change? Does it make the AI smarter? What is the difference between Normal difficulty and Hard difficulty for instance?
  4. Here is another question, probably stupid: Once we achieve a new level of research/tech... do our units in the field automatically become that new level, or do we have to either reinforce or buy new units to have that new tech level?
  5. Totally agreed there Canuck! I also think that the AI will do a much better job with LESS micromanaging.
  6. Being the only Modern War minded of my old gaming group, I've never had the chance to play any of the old classic WWII strategy games. So, all I'm really looking for in SC is a chance to experience a WWII grand strategy game, with some decent amount of simulation... OR I should say, exactly what SC is supposed to be! (Yay me!) Methinks I'll easily get my $25 worth!
  7. Great AAR SuperTed! I truly understand why it takes you a while to get these puppies out now. Man, I can't wait to get this game!
  8. I'm looking forward to unlocking the Mussolini Pinata minigame! (Its threads like these that should give SuperTed incentive to get those AAR's out for us to discuss!)
  9. Straha, my family and I are heading to the public library today, so I shall look for that series! Thanks man! I'll also look for the Hitler Options! BB... I'm going to be telling friends about it, no worries! I agree that we all should! We should also send a link to the website to any Strategy or Wargaming websites/clubs that we know of or find on the net!
  10. Wow Straha, that was you? Anyhoo, look at all the options/possibilities for VERY EARLY war! This game is going to get a LOT of play time! It would be pretty frightening committing so much of the British force to an early battle. Part of the Navy is bad enough, but when you start committing some of the troops, to be possibly trapped and completely destroyed... you're risking quite a lot early on! Its going to be exciting!
  11. Ah yes, that was it! Sorry! Now then, in this dream, I was smacking around a monkey, when suddenly...
  12. Why yes, I do believe it was War In Europe... that sounds right. Heh... no chance of getting it back now... Could have easily paid for 3 copies of SC if sold on EBAY huh? Excuse me a moment... Click..click... BLAM! THUNK!
  13. In the immortal words of Bart Simpson... "Zuh?"
  14. I think there is a more detailed battle of the Atlantic system in place now isn't there? With subs able to harrass routes? I also think Hubert had mentioned one or two off map actions he was considering, but I can't find that thread... maybe I was just dreaming... where am I?
  15. I also want to add praise for Hubert and SC. It must appear that none of us are happy with how things look at this point... but I think in actuality we are all VERY happy... otherwise we would not care enough to be offering "help" or "advice." Personally, if the game was released tommorrow, with all the stuff that we already KNOW is going to be in it, I would be happy! On the board wargame note, I just tossed out a game that had about a million little cardboard pieces, and was AT LEAST the entire war in europe. It was made by SSI or Avalon Hill. I wish I could remember the name of it. Anyhoo, it sat in my closet for years, and I had no one to play it with... so finally out of frustration I tossed it. Now I'll be able to play SC soon! YAY!!!
  16. As I was poorly trying to say before, that could almost be seen as how the system works already. Corps have AP 4, Armies AP 3. If Hubert then lowers the AP of minor Corps to 3... then Major Corps are, in effect, our mech units. (and the only bonus we get is the 1 AP... which seems fine at this scale.)
  17. Considering the suggested changes by Hubert (lowering the AP's of minor Corps by 1) perhaps we should look at the higher Corp AP as a representation of mechanized inf., while the larger Army units would move a bit slower, even if they contained mech inf., because the larger unit would have to contain at least SOME slower units? Kinda like the Corp is more streamlined for movement? Thus the lowering of AP's for minor Corps would represent their lack of mech inf., right? I'm really just babbling, but I hope it makes a little sense...

  19. I agree BB. I think there is one City graphic, and one Capital graphic. However, I would like the less politically correct German flag, and I would also like a better overall city graphic... it kinda looks like a factory right now... which I guess may be suitable, but still... I'm sure someone will do an entire war-room overhaul at some point, like the MODS we got for CM that changed the entire look of the game.
  20. ...... and this brings up the point, will the flags be a part of the MOD-able graphics? I assume yes, since it is probably ALL the graphics files, like in CM.
  21. Mr. C, I am playing a PBEM of the war too and my opponent tried that. After I destroyed a British battleship with my air and naval units, the invasion of Norway went without a hitch. </font>
  22. Since the Allies have a strong Navy to begin with, it makes me wonder what would have happened if it was parked around Norway as SuperTed made his amphibious assault. I suppose it would simply have risked it too early, but it would still be interesting to see. Can't wait to play!
  23. This thread seems to be running aground quickly... but, before its completely scuttled, I'll join in... I also have never played either game, but I have SEEN AA played at least. So, with 1 being the simplistic, family "wargame" and 10 being the you'll never finish it, or understand it Grog game. I'm expecting a 5, and I think SC will hit a 4 or 5, if not immediately then after a patch or two. I'd love to be surprised by a 6, and I think that is possible... Its already got depth, you can see that just by scanning this message board. I just can't wait to try it! [ May 07, 2002, 01:56 PM: Message edited by: Mr. Clark ]
  24. I'll be honest, I don't even understand the last part... BUT, as for the Bismark replacement... I don;t know how long it would take to build up 660 MPP's, but I don't think that would ever be considered a small expenditure. So, when you spend that amount on your Bismark II, you just have to imagine/assume that a reserve/extra/replacement ship has been in production for a while, and luckily is ready to sail to avenge its sister ship. ALSO, the sinking of the Bismark will probably come as a surprise, and so that 660, even if you DO have it saved up already, was probably planned for use in some other area, which will now be depleted if you decide to build Bismark II. It is all an abstraction/simplification, but it works for me. EDIT: One extra thought... assuming that the Bismark is better than your average Battleship, that means it would have been "pumped up" to above the initial 10 rating. I assume any newly produced Battleship would start at the 10 rating, and then have to have more points spent on it to bump it up. (This last thought MAY all be based on a flawed view/understanding of how that part of the game works... on my part.) [ May 07, 2002, 01:47 PM: Message edited by: Mr. Clark ]
  25. Lets just all compromise and say Airborne and Mech Inf would be a cool addition in a patch. Anything that adds options and depth to the game can only be a plus! I'm all for airborne in the game, but I also have never really played on this type of grand strategy level in a modern wargame, so I'm not qualified to argue HOW effective or useful they would be. I know I prefer simulation to "beer and pretzel"... but I also don't have time to worry about knitting my troops undies for the winter war. Bill, you up for a PBEM once the DEMO arrives?
