  1. I agree with R_Leete, howz about Pre-Orders? (I suppoooooose I should wait to see that the demo works fine on my PC first... sigh)
  2. Bill, I MAY be wrong, but I believe it was said that as soon as you spend points for a unit... poof, there it is. However, the time spent saving up the points to purchase the unit can be seen as production time, in a sort of abstract sense.
  3. He He! I was thinking the exact same thing Jeff! Wheeeeeeee!!! [ May 06, 2002, 12:08 PM: Message edited by: Mr. Clark ]
  4. I'd also like to know more about income, purchasing, and production. BB, an SC fansite sounds GREAT!
  5. This was what I was thinking too. It seems like everything is basically OK as they are in SC.
  6. Too pass the time... I've been playing CM a lot more. I just rented the Spider-MAn game for my PS2, that will pass a few days. I've been reading We Were Soldiers Once, and I bought MArine SNiper, and Bravo Two Zero. None of them are WWII books, but they still somewhat satisfy that hunger. Once all that runs out, I sure hope to be playing the DEMO... I'll also be taking a trip to the library for some true SC themed books.
  7. Thanks for the reply Hubert! That leaves some room for some pretty sweet MODS I'll bet. I'm still perfectly happy with things the way they appear now, but then I haven't seen what MOD'ers will do once they get hold of the game.
  8. (... am I wrong, or does that tank icon change over time -- in the later game shots it appears to have metamorphed into a more advanced tank design?)</font>
  9. I love the intel and espionage aspects of warfare, and if that could somehow be modeled in a future patch it would be pretty damn sweet!
  10. As this has apparently not been a problem in the BETA testing, I don't see that it will be a problem in the game... CERTAINLY not a game breaking problem! I like the system. It seems to be a good, yet simple answer. Sometimes the command structure breaks down even within a single countries units! On a much smaller scale, take for example the problems faced with coordinating both the Rangers and the Delta boys in the novel Black Hawk Down.
  11. I completely agree with this system. I don't see that much benefit would be realistically gained from disbanding an experienced unit compared to a green one.
  12. Being unfamilair with Military symbols, I'm actually HAPPY with the person and tank symbols. Its much easier for me to tell everything apart at a glance.
  13. That other game is "real-time" if I read correctly, so I have no interest. Plus, this game seems to have SO much play value! I also support Airborne units to eventually make an appearance in SC. I hope it happens in a patch, instead of having to wait a couple of years for SC2, which probably won't run on my PC.
  14. WOO HOO!!!!!!!! Thanks a TON Hubert! What a HUGE addition! This game sounded great from the start, and now it continues to become deeper and better all the time!
  15. I totally understand how the WEGO system would not be at all suitable for this type of game. As has been said before, if someone REALLY needs to cheat, they will find a way. I would put a little effort into making it a little harder to do, but don't waste a ton of time with it! Also, if someone is that insecure, they will accuse you of cheating just for doing well, no matter how hard it is to actually cheat. Years ago, I was accused of cheating at StarCraft, because I had left little marine "spies" around the map so I knew what the enemy was up to. I was often accused of having some type of map cheat that removed FOW.
  16. I agree that little things like the stuff you mentioned do go a long way to adding to the enjoyment of a game... even though not neccessary. I still like the music and original artwork (title image) for CM.
  17. That has been addressed, and while I forget the answer, I DO know that all the graphics in the game are "MOD-able" so I'm sure the community will have a huge variety of choices for how your game can look.
  18. Wow. I'm impressed by all the little background things. No weather effects seems ok, considering the turn lengths.
  19. Some people will have a problem with the cheating potential. I usually play against people I feel I can trust (and of course, just for fun) so it won't bother me too much. On one side, it may be easy to tell if someone is cheating early, if everything goes unbelieveably well for them. On the other hand, we may get alot of people yelling CHEATING simply because they suck. [ May 02, 2002, 02:04 PM: Message edited by: Mr. Clark ]
  20. Fantastic job SuperTed! Can't wait to see how the rest goes! (REALLY can't wait to play!!!) [ May 02, 2002, 02:05 PM: Message edited by: Mr. Clark ]
  21. Mr. C, At the beginning of each turn, there is a report of the enemy's transgressions.</font>
  22. While it has been hinted at that you can attempt an invasion USA... I think that the major purpose of having US hexes is so the US can build units there. The US (and Canada) then has to ship its units safely overseas IIRC. W/O US and Canada hexes, it would be lacking IMO.
