  1. If I have a platoon HQ calling in an arty strike via radio, does the proximity of the arty team to the target affect accuracy or effectiveness if they are using coordinates given to them by the HQ team?
  2. So I'm playing a scenario right now where support units arrive along with 2 jeeps, one of which is technically the HQ group to all of these units. This HQ jeep unit contains binoculars and a radio while the other one contains a bazooka and AT rockets. All the support units themselves are in command of Battalion HQ (off-screen) even though the the only unit with a radio is the jeep HQ. However, none of the units are in contact with each other, even though they arrive together on the map. (WTF?) Can someone explain the command structure here and also how to pull supplies off the jeeps for my support teams?
  3. See...I don't agree with this. I have an opponent right now who marched a sniper and what look to be an arty observer to the top of a tower. After the sniper shot at one of my guys, I not only spotted the sniper but was somehow able to also see the observer in the tower too at 700+ meters away, even though he obviously wasn't firing. This is the kind of example I'm talking about. Why would I be able to see anyone else in that building but the person who is shooting?
  4. Damn, I didn't even know you could use a move-target order to check LOS, let alone this advanced method. Good stuff.
  5. Ok, but this underscores my point. Since troops in the game wouldn't do the same thing, you would issue a hunt order into a building if you didn't think troops were in there, but weren't 100% sure. But a few others on here seem to suggest firing on every building before entering which makes no sense to me. Sure, if there's only a couple buildings around, but if it's a village or town, there isn't the time to do that. Plus, you give away your position.
  6. Did WWII soldiers fire into every building before entering it? I find that hard to believe, especially if they are entering a town with multiple buildings that would need to be fired into. Not to mention that it would give away their position.
  7. We're talking about entering buildings here where you don't know what's inside. You can't issue a Slow/Crawl order as they would be pummeled if the enemy is in the structure.
  8. I think all posts that don't have a clear subject and are meant as click bait should be immediately deleted.
  9. This isn't rocket science. A squad given the "slow" order is crawling and the troops are completely vulnerable to enemy fire so I'm not going to give them that order when having them move into buildings, especially when there might be enemy troops inside. Because of this, there needs to be the same concealment bonus for troops on "Hunt".
  10. It seems to me that no matter what move order you gave your troops, a nearby enemy always seems to spot them unless you crawl the squad into the building. IMO, they shouldn't be spotted by a nearby enemy unless they are sticking their heads out the window to fire upon them. Yet, in every game I've played, they can be spotted way too easily it seems, sometimes by buttoned up tanks that are 500m away. This doesn't make any sense to me. How would a trained squad be spotted if they are careful to avoid windows? And even if they had to cross the room in front of a window to get to a staircase or to find a place to hide, they would take precautions in order to not be spotted. It's bad enough that they are sitting ducks in these buildings with tanks nearby, I just think a better concealment bonus should be given than what the current default is. It just doesn't seem realistic to me that a trained squad would be seen so easily when they are in an enclosed structure.
  11. I have a question about this scenario as I just started playing it. Has anyone here played this or do they know how to get in touch with Fredrocker, the author of this battle?
  12. Let's say I have a platoon of soldiers up ahead of my HQ who are currently in both visual and audio command. In what terrain/scenarios would giving the HQ a hide order possibly take the platoon out of visual command? I'm guessing high grass would do it? Are there others?
  13. Are they assigned to guard the Company HQ or something?
  14. Why did they tell us both were going to be in the new upgrade and then not deliver on either? And while I can see the problem with coding tank riders for each vehicle, adding a flame vehicle or two doesn't seem like much work. This alone should've made the cut. Command lines? You mean that feature that came free when they put out CM 15 years ago??? And now we have to pay for it...
  15. Is there a way to rotate the camera around an object, like a building, to see if there are windows on all sides? I haven't found a way to do this yet but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
  16. So how long do you need to be in the same action spot before the enemy disappears after throwing up their hands?
  17. Oh Christ...one of those? I won't even bother downloading the game to check it out. That's about all I need to know.
  18. On the Combat Mission YouTube channels, there seem to be a whole lot of people that come over from Company Of Heroes to tell us that their game is better. Has anyone played it and what in your opinion are the differences between the two?
  19. I don't understand why everyone likes this scenario. It's quite possibly the most restricted, boring map of the bunch. By the way, if my last opponent is reading this...I quit our game because I hated this map.
  20. I have an AMD Radeon 5700 and my shadows don't look like that.
