  1. Hello Bil, Good to see you still around. It seems that Kitty must first get the go-ahead from Seanachai before she can venture in outer board competitions. Treeburst155, I'm sure if you enter on 1 Feb. you stand a good chance of getting into RoW IV, no need to offer your services as a back-up player only. We don't want to limit your tireless CM testing skills so severly, do we? PS: Arkansas dryness: We can always send the wine to your parents, not? Sincerely, Charl Theron -------------------------------------------------------- “I am simultaneously embarrassed and proud to state for the record that only two bottles of your fine South African wines remain in my wine rack. The rest gave their lives honorably in the service of the construction of CMAK over the past several months.” -- Charles Moylan, 28 Nov. 2003
  2. And well deserved! Not to mention one of the best BB forums around too. Have not received my TB-stategy game of the year yet here in South Africa. Ever hopeful to see you paw print on the cover Matt. I'm sticking with this winning horse for life, even if it has to be shot later due to age. Congrats to BFC again, Sincerely, Charl Theron
  3. Speaking of the Pool, It was (is?) the custom that we usually invite one useless slack from the Peng thread to participate in the RoW. Do they still exist so that we can extend an invitation to them Kingfish?
  4. These following RoW I participants below created CM tourney history with Wild Bill Wilder's scenarios. Whether some are still around (under another forum name) or has moved along/away from this board, I don't know. If the older RoW vets are still around and reading this post/thread, it will be nice to know who was who in "Wreck's" zoo (aka "Wrecks Bitches") - i.e. your forum name during the tourney then. ----------------------- EDIT: Wreck was in the same group as the following gentlemen : Enoch, Zalewski, Travisano (whom had the misfortune of meeting him in "Sounds in the Night" and lost 13-87), Rohde, Davidson, Juha and Gaspari ------------------------ Each player listed below played 7 scenarios with their total normalized score out of 700 [in brackets]. The 24 Vet RoW I roll call was ... </font> [1] Leonard Dickens [537/700](aka "Wreck" the eventual winner) [2] Rhode (Chuck?) [277/700] [3] Travisano [287/700] [4] Zalewski (Tony?) 6. Nicely done! The RoW IV tourney participants might need your help in sprucing up their AAR's (with your help maybe?) for the upcoming tournament sign-on on 1 Feb. 2004. 7. WWB, Wild Bill gave me something in the region of 10-12 scenarios, all historical, that he was busy researching for RoW I and told me "right then, you choose 'em 8 for RoW I" Amazing work ethic, Wild Bill. I remembered that I chose the scenarios to have a wide variety of men figthing: Axis vs Canucks vs Free French vs British(?) vs Ami's. God bless his kind soul - he, with manager Treeburst155, made RoW an instant winner. Later, the classic Nabla scoring system was introduced to rate players performance without designers needing to worry about play balance. I thank Boots & Tracks and especially Kingfish (and Holien/Spanish Bombs) for taking up the workload once again for RoW IV. May all participants have an better seat/view in RoW IV than RoW I,II,III. PS: For a RoW I trip down memory lane, click on the "RoW I" link at the bottom of my signature. 8. That was me and Treeburst being extra devilish in RoW I; Wild Bill's scenarios did the rest of the damage. It work, did it not?
  9. Ahh, The tourney after my wine heart. Good wine, no excellent wine, will be stashed away in my cellar tonight for the 3 worthy winners (12 bottles each) of RoW IV. ADVICE: Don't sleep close to the date of 1 Feb. when the sign-ups begin gentlemen. 10. Here you go Michael, I'm quoting verbatim... One can only hope that the following artillery bug – let’s call it rather a cockroach - which has manifested itself in CMBB already, can be patched in CMAK, too wit: To be found here, 3 posts down. 11. Could I wade in this filthy, but esteemed pool and call upon all and sunder to see/review this, still during this decade? Much obliged for spotting the fine print in "Author Comments" there. Huge PBEM, huge map, huge movie files, I suspect huge egos will be dented during play too. 13. GJK, The scenario is only designed for PBEM play though. I'm only interested in that form of play/review. 8 PBEM games = you have to much hay on your fork. Appreciate your interest. Review it whenever your load is lighter, even if it means 3-5 months from now. Sincerely, Charl Theron
  14. Bolding mine. Interesting. I thought you guided Charles programming hand in penetration data for CMAK Lorrin? So it *seems* that the Stuart's gun is slightly over modeled in CMAK. Much obliged for the Sherman APCBC gun penetration explanation in CMBB/CMAK. Question: Since CM differentiate in general/somewhat between homogenous (mostly in CMBB) and face-hardened armor (mostly in CMAK) penetration capabilities as shown by the penetration stats listed, I assume the CM engine differentiate also when a gun hits homogeneous armor in CMAK and face-hardened armor in CMBB? Better put: Since only 1 type of penetration stats for a gun is shown (either vs. face-hardened or homogeneous armor) in CMAK or CMBB respectively, can we assume CM simulates also penetration calculations if the "opposite/different" type of armor is being hit than what is generally being shown to us - stat wise - as player in a particular CM game? 15. Right then, 73 downloads so far, that means 7 potential lucky reviewers @ Scenario Depot have a chance to win each 6 bottles of SA wine.

  18. Did I mention that any review posted with a week (at least) from now @ Scenario Depot = a fake? It took me the better part of 3 weeks to playtest this one via PBEM, with 2-3 file exchanges per day.
  19. Tried to change it to "Russia" via my Depot ID number - no luck. Have e-mailed Keith Miller @ Scenario Depot to do it for me. Nice try, but Peter Cerda already mailed me this morning regarding same mistake. Have to try harder than just showing me that I cannot enter details in a drop down list via my mouse! BTW, if I receive reviews within next few days, they are faked. It took me the better part of 2-3 weeks per game of PBEM play to playtest this one! 20. A few months in the making... If you’re interested in huge maps, combined arms, tinkering with different AFV’s on both side, being challenged on different avenues for attack and defend dispositions, know your engineers’ capabilties near bridges, know your fords from your fjords, and don’t mind 1-3MB PBEM files, then have a look at the Scenario Depot. See the wine pledge in the “Author Comments” field? No, it’s not a bribe. Just an incentive to review, good or bad, my damn hard work! 24. This has been mentioned before on the forum: There is an improvement in the penetration capabilities of the Sherman 75mm gun (et al) in CMAK compared to CMBB. For example, distance penetration comparison is as follows: APCBC shot: 100m CMBB: @ 0º = 90mm, @ 30º = 72mm, @ 60º = 40mm CMAK: @ 0º = 104mm, @ 30º = 82mm, @ 60º = 40mm APCBC shot: 500m CMBB: @ 0º = 83mm, @ 30º = 66mm, @ 60º = 38mm CMAK: @ 0º = 96mm, @ 30º = 76mm, @ 60º = 38mm APCBC shot: 1000m CMBB: @ 0º = 75mm, @ 30º = 60mm, @ 60º = 35mm CMAK: @ 0º = 87mm, @ 30º = 69mm, @ 60º = 35mm Has BFC discovered better research, or has Lorrin Bird’s formulae shed some new light since CMBB in the murky field of ballistics?
