  1. Heres that Maxim wav file, note the readme. Maxim (CMBB) wav file Prob needs a little filtering etc but its certainly a different sound!
  2. I have a new maxim sound file. Whats the number in CMBB? [edit - found the numbers] [ February 15, 2003, 08:29 PM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  3. Thats some sound contact! My guys must been slurping the vodka a bit too much and are now suffering from the DT's!!! na zdorovye!
  4. I still play CMBO and still love it for what it has that have been removed when CMBB came out. Some of those thing that are missing/changed in CMBB I still find annoying. I would suggest posting a message on the CMBB forum asking can you pay a visit to a any players living in your area, asking can you pop round for a coffee and a hotseat game of CMBB. This will definitely give you the answer you are seeking.
  5. I have seen this but only at short ranges, eg 50m. I have assumed it to be firing his sidearm.
  6. Yeh im hoping someone will do buildings like Panzertruppen did for CMBO. Ive gone as far as to install CMBO buildings into CMBB although it does mean no "damaged" building textures but I can live with that.
  7. I have been loading Chris's CMBB xls tables into Jason McGrody's CMBO graphical database. Im learning excel as I go so its a slow process (3 months so far). Editing the database functions etc. adding in more data (all data found on unit details in fact). It just needs time to get extra unit details for minor sides and add them into the tables. My conversion is only for vehicles. I couldnt track down Jason to get his permission but im hoping (if hes still around?) he doesnt mind if it gets released. 8. I saw a documentary on tanks that said riveted armour "effectively falls to pieces" when taking hits. So I took that as being its armour protective value would degrade faster after each hit than would welded. Is this right?
  9. Canon, if you needed someone to do a twinkle test, drop me an email (use mudansha@iprimus.com.au though)
  10. Winmx is certainly something to keep in mind if the "end of the world as we know it" happens and the database goes offline. It appears the best option. Mod naming format - I somehow doubt this will happen, I have been asking for this for some time and it just doesnt seem to happen (no offence intended to the modders). I have now taken to renaming all mods to the following format, makes it easy to see what the mod is and who did it when looking at a directory with 60+ files in it. unit-year-weather-modder.zip (eg PzIIIL(early)-winter-frednurke.zip. Yes, unfortunately by renaming the file it also means it can not be shared easily on kazaa/winmx but the advantage to me outweighs that disadvantage.
  11. Im one of unfortunates that does get the twinkling. However its easily fixed by using a image programme to soften or blur the bmps by just one notch. Retains all the quality (except at level 1 view). You have to be careful not to blur the pink bits or else  [edit - typo] [ February 02, 2003, 10:27 PM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  12. yes, Lou, you may have found the way. Finding the room in winmx was easy. Also I have had kazaa up and some mods have been found and downloaded.
  13. Hey Tom, just saw those new splash screens you have done, absolutely superb!! Is they any chance you could make the same style as a CD case cover, front and back like you did with CMBO? I must say your graphic design skills are something else. [edit - the kursk one in particular] [ January 31, 2003, 10:03 PM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  14. Im back online again but the chat room aint there. This p2p idea doesnt seem to be working  Lou2000, whats you winmx username? [edit - prob doesnt help im in australia and so im awake when you're not and vice versa] [ January 31, 2003, 07:02 PM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  15. Thanks Lou2000. I think the more people give it a go, we may see something. remember to edit the file in kazaa and add in to the keyword, cmbb. The trouble with usenet, edonkey and others is that you act as a server for a file, the speed of that files transfers depends on your connection, period. With winmx and kazaa you file is added to others to "compile" into a single download and hence the download for the user is substantially faster. I will install winmx and have a go with that as well. [edit - ok winmx up, my winmx username is pud818.] [ January 31, 2003, 05:38 AM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  16. Try grabbing the cmmos track mod for cmbo from CMHQ, uses Gyrenes tracks and since the dirt road in cmbb is just a higher res of the cmbo dirt you may find it works ok. You may have to renumber the files so be careful. [edit - im surprised this wasnt coded into CMBB since it was modded in CMBO and very well received  road crossing is certainly more logical than track crossing] [ January 30, 2003, 06:31 PM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  17. Thats a bummer, its been up for nearly 10 hours now. I will keep doing it anyway just incase theres some sort of central index that needs to be rebuilt every 24 hours or something. My Kazaa will be ofline for the next 12 hours but I will start it again tonight (Perth, WA, -8 GMT) Edonkey - i tried using this for personal searches but could never find a single user available, ever! Im certainly willing to give it another try though. [edit +8 GMT DOH!] [ January 30, 2003, 06:40 PM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  18. I sometimes stare at screenshots of past (victorious) games and...........but we wont go there. [ January 30, 2003, 07:36 AM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  19. bugger... It may take a while to register on the network, my machine will be online for another 5 hours so hopefully in that time.....if someone could try every 30mins or so and let use know if successful [edit - also try looking for a file by name, eg "gravestone-pud" , it may give a different result. I have gone through and added in CMBB to the search parameter of each mod in kazaa.] [ January 30, 2003, 07:19 AM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  20. g'day all im just running a test, i have only just now made available through kazaa the cmbb mods i have on my PC, can someone fire up kazaa and search for cmbb and tell me if it shows up. [ January 31, 2003, 06:23 AM: Message edited by: Pud ]
  21. I have been also saying this for some time. The one trouble I see is file naming convention, in 99% of cases I rename the files to something that means something (to me, eg "PzIIIM(early)-winter-fred.zip") and hence the file becomes pretty much un-sharable. I like a well organised directory. The kazaa idea, I think, is inevitable however.
  22. if you have any left by turn 25 With my (expensive) 17lbdr I had noted however that he had already used his 150mm to pound my troops. I also new he never took onboard mortars (dont ask me why) so it survived and carried on for the next 30 rounds or so blowing the crap out of everything in sight. He ran his panther away after the first few shots (missed). He never ventured it out from hiding for the rest of the game (small map, with my 17lbdr dominating it with a very wide arc of fire.)

  24. Im sure he is, Im also on 56dialup and can in my 5 hours (before ISP disonnects me) I can normally get around 75mb. I started this file (SUset) downloading and by the time i was disconnected I had 16mb. (the CMdatabase is normally not this slow by the way) No drama though I use bulletproof and will resume tonight, I just appreciate the service provided by the database.
  25. Personally I think there is no way to flush out a ATG. The only way to find a ATG is when the player allows it to fire at your armour. I find you do have to show your armour, have the ATG fire and hope it misses (good chance on first shot) or bounces (if good range/armour), bug out and pound it to death with mortar. If the ATG commander wants to keep it hidden waiting for your tanks to come into LOS there is really nought that you can do about it. I have in a (CMBO) game of mine kept a 17lber hidden for 24 turns, waiting for that Panther to come into view. PS another good post by Jason.
