  1. I've ben watching this one for a while and so long as BF bundles the new module with CMFI/GL (with a discount of course), I'll snap this up. ETA early 2017?
  2. You don't need to break the bank, that's for sure. I recently upgraded to a very cheap and modest system: Pentium G3258, ASRock H81M DGS 2.0, 8GB RAM, ASUS Strix GTX 950, Win 7 I play on 1680x1050 (22" Samsung monitor that I kept), Best Quality, and use a profile in the Nvidia control panel: 8X AA, 16X Anisotropic, etc. I'm very happy with the performance in the CMx2 games I own (CMBN, CMBS). I get between 20-30fps in Huge maps that I couldn't hope to run on my laptop (A6 3410MX, Radeon HD 6755G2). O/C the CPU to 4.2GHz didn't make much of a difference, although it gave me another 10fps in ARMA 3. It seems the Nvidia card does make a big difference in how the game plays, which I might finally have to concede is due to AMD's crap drivers.
  3. The video looks good. A decent Africa mod may be enough to get me to buy CMFI+GL. I've been waffling on it since it came out. I was going to wait for the next expansion and then buy the full pkg at a discount (will still be well over $100 CDN though), but an Africa mod may convince me. CMAK for some reason was my favourite CMx1 game...
  4. I kinda figured that after I thought about it (the space limit). I tried Shadowplay in ARMA 3 and it works really well. Quite easy and nice videos. Doesn't seem to work in CM though for some reason.
  5. Thanks, forgot to do that. Is there a daily size limit for uploading or something? It would only allow me those screens and then said I only had 0.2MB remaining and I couldn't attach any more? Also, how do you delete a post? I know how to edit, but I wanted to remove one of those abrams posts and couldn't do it. On another note, I'm attempting to record with Shadowplay in-game, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe it just doesn't work with CM games, but that would be odd. I'll try it with ARMA 3 and see what happens.
  6. I just like how this part of the muzzle flash looks...
  7. Managed to keep this guy alive for most of the battle, until I got brash and drove up a hill:
  8. So my first ever screenshots after 16+ years on these forums! They won't win any awards, but they'll get better I hope:
  9. I'm trying to drag and drop (or choose the files) screenshots into a message here but I keep getting an error that you're only allowed to upload 501.76KB? The files are around 376KB. What's going on? Edit: reloaded the page and now it works. Is it normal to have to do that each time?
  10. I think the software with my GTX 950 does video (Shadowplay?). I wonder how that is. Have to give it a try. Found a tutorial:
  11. With the Basra expansion, it's certainly a good deal when it's on sale. I think it was about $20 USD for both at Xmas. I just didn't need another game gathering dust in my Steam library, so for once, I actually controlled my impulse-buying It's going to require a time commitment to learn by the sounds of things (complicated controls, poor tutorial, non-existent manual). Looks very sim-like however, and includes some very unique theatres.
  12. That would make sense as I think I last played CMSF with XP. I noticed that limitation with FRAPS. Does that mean you use IRFan to take the screens as well? Which of these programs (FRAPs, Bandicam, IRFan) is best for recording videos? I seem to recall using FRAPS ages ago in CMBN and being unable to get it to record for more than 30secs. Which of these is least resource-intensive?
  13. Yes, forgot about fraps, thanks. Did they remove functionality of the PrtScreen button or something? I noticed even now in CMSF it doesn't work, and it used to, and it's not a Win 10 thing because my CM games are all on my desktop (Win 7). Also, how do you take one without the text overlays in-game (i.e. 'Paused') or do you have to edit those out?
  14. Quick (dumb) question since I seem to be the only one on here that doesn't know how to take a screenshot! I don't usually take them, but a modded CMBS is a beautiful thing. Tried the old PrtScreen button and pasting into Paint, but that doesn't seem to work anymore (it pastes the menu screen for some reason). I've searched for an answer to no avail (I even tried a google search).
  15. I keep looking at getting these every year (SFury and SABOW), but never buy them. The last tank sim I played a lot of was Panzer Elite back in the day, and M1TP2, which was a very 'fun' sim as it had enough realism, and easily the best combined battlefield experience in any game at that time. I still have the massive, beautiful coil-bound manual that came with it! I thought about Steel Beasts, but the price and dated graphics (even after they updated it) keeps me away from that. A modded CMBS blows SBPro away IMO. SABOW lost out to ARMA 3 during the Xmas Steam sale this year, but I still have it and the expansion in my wishlist. I think I'll get them during the summer sale. If they had a demo, I probably would have bought it already. I recall playing the demo for Steel Fury when it first came out, and enjoyed it, but the game was still full of bugs. If it was on Steam, I'd have it by now. Why is it not on Steam?! I tried the demos for their other games (Op Star, etc) and it was virtually impossible to figure out how to play them. I could spend several days on youtube I suppose, but a game has has to be somewhat logical to figure out to begin with. I don't think the tank games are as involved however.
  16. I upgraded my laptop to Win 10 and forgot to unlicense CMSF (and lost my d/l exe in the process). I'm attempting to d/l and install CMSF from the Customer Downloads section, but I get an error that my license is invalid, which isn't true. If I recall I pre-ordered CMSF in 2007(?). Is it even possible to get CMSF from there? I have the CD version somewhere, but would like to get it right now while I'm out of town. Any ideas? Thanks.
  17. Yes, that seems to work now (191MB as well). I pasted it into the folder too and it worked (no filename warning). MOD makers need to be aware of this as I had no idea the file had shrunk so much. It will probably save them some hassle troubleshooting issues. I just wanted to see how compressed it was (I keep the zip or the uncompressed, not both...I'm anal that way) so I checked it. There was no warning for it (when you unzip it). So, if I add a Z folder (in addition to the mods folder), the z folder will load faster?
  18. I think I have a problem here. I d/l your mods and extracted them to a folder, but the enhancement megapack is 93.7MB zipped, but only 8.57MB unzipped. Where did it go? Is this something to do with the file names again? Was this file name issue in a Win 7 update or something? I never had this issue until a few months ago. Even when I go to put a folder into the recycle bin I get a warning that the file names are too long. I tried the so-called file name length 'fix' at the MS site, but it says it's not compatible with my computer?! I'd try to shorten them manually, but with CM mods it usually gives over 100 instances of the issue, which is an awful lot of manual fixing. EDIT: It is the filename issue. I shortened the zip file name and now it extracts to 191MB. Is that the correct size? I also went in and shortened all of the long folder names to be sure that I get all the files when putting them into the MOD directory. Also, it can just go into the Documents/Battlefront/CMBS/UserData/MODS directory can't it (i.e. no need to create a 'z' directory)?
  19. I think you may need to set the refresh to half to keep it around 30fps. I'll check my settings on my laptop next time I have it open...don't use it much anymore
  20. That may be true, but saying you can't get decent FPS with AMD cards is hogwash. I get the same or better than what he's getting with my old laptop (HP DV6 with AMD A6-6410MX/6755G2 1GB on Win 7-64. Go to the below site. It's NVIDIA, but a lot of the settings are the same as the AMD control panel. It makes a big difference in-game. There may be an AMD performance tips link as well? Having said that, AMD is definitely slower on the uptake with their drivers. You may have to roll-back if nothing helps: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/96330-some-performance-and-quality-tips-for-nvidia-users/ Interestingly, on my new desktop build (Intel G3220/8GB Ram/ASUS Strix GTX 950) I can now play the game fully maxed in the NVidia control panel (1680x1050 - older Samsung LCD monitor-looks great though) and have no lag whatsover in huge maps that I couldn't run before. This is with CMBN/CW and CMBS 3.11. I can also run ARMA 3 at Ultra at 35-50 fps, so long as I don't go over 2500 with the draw distance. I always thought these games may be CPU-limited, but that's simply not true. It's almost all GPU.
  21. I didn't even think to look in the main game page. Yes, I put in the code for 3.0 and it is a 10GB d/l. Thanks!
  22. Thanks Phil, tried that, no dice. From what I can see I have to download them all individually again as the file size is the same (i.e. the Commonwealth Bundle is 1.75GB, same as the one I have). Unless it just has the incorrect d/l size in there?
