Bergman All U.S. Sherman Plainpack RELEASED!
Cos replied to Old Dog's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Haven't used mods for the Shermans yet, but I have found the one I'm going to use now. That's some great work. -
Yes I have. In had 2 tanks advancing together passing the 3rd tank in overwatch with supporting infantry moving along their flanks. First arty round (German 240mm)lands right in the middle of the 3 tanks. All 3 tanks are shocked, Sherman's gun is knocked out and both Churchills are immobolized. The infantry runs for the hills (that isn't killed outright) and at the end of the turn the Sherman is burning, both Churchills are abandon, dead infantry everywhere and the surviors are paniced/routed. Lession learned, don't put your attacking force together in the open
-
No. I believe there is not enough time for the crew to clean up the mess from the hits taken to abandon a weapon and make it functional again.
-
FYI: I remember a posting about a Tiger throwing it's tack on a dirt road. Something about the tank made a noise (wasn't under fire or firing as I recall) and poof it was just was immobilized. Don't recall to much more about it. Did your Jagdpanzer move/rotate at all to get the shots on the halftracks?

Is the tank rubbing up against that tree??? -
Yea, he points out who the officer is to the sniper. The guy standing next to the radio man

I had the DAK and 8th army figures along with some other ones. Funny seeing this post, I was out and about and found some old 1/72 scale Airfix tank models (Tiger I and Pz Kw IVF) and couldn't resist and picked them up. Now the question is, who's mod should I use for a color scheme to paint them?
-
Jim here has some military stuff here and some how to info to customize figures. http://www.jimbobwan.com/

I loved it. The vehicle section is great. I wish build 1/6 scale vehicles like that.

Photography Mission: Urban Terrain In CM
Cos replied to David Aitken's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Make an interting barrier, infantry can fire through them fairly easy, but when that Jagdtiger takes a shot and the round hits the railing and sends the round flying who knows where (if it doesn't just blow up on contact). -
Until the infantry flanks you by going house to house

Had something similar with a HT, it was shocked after getting nailed by infantry and decided driving into them (maybe to get it's hubcabs stolen) was a good idea. I was starting to wonder if the driver was thinking of killing the squad off with the tire iron.

A question for all 3rd party mod users.

Just unzip and overwrite bmp and wav files. Did make a back-up folder of the originals and keep a zip copy of any mods I download. -
Is there hand to hand fighting in CMBO?
Cos replied to Chaffee's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Shooting really close and lobbing grenades is all I've ever seen. -
I used it in a QB where a large amount german infrantry (15 plus squads) was getting ready to overrun my right flank. 19 shells stopped them cold and allowed me time to get some HT and armor over there to mop up the survivors.

CM1 : the unfinished business
Cos replied to Phantom Rocker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Not really, tanks and halftracks push them out of the way. But it does slow them down for an AT ambush. -
Sound off, folks: What's the story behind your "user name"?

Just a short for Cosgrove, had it for soooooo long I can't remember when it started(grade school I think) -
So that's why the mirrors keep breaking when I look in them.

M18 Hellcat or F6F Hellcat; Which one was more important?

I remember seeing gun camera footage from a P51 dusting a Japanese biplane trying to attack the bomber stream over Japan. That guy wasn't flying top of the line -
so why did tank destroyers not work?

Always keep a fair distance (50 - 100m) between vehicles and keep vehicles with higher experience levels in front. -Andrew In addition I have found you had place one vehicle on right and left sides of a dirt road and not get bogged down(at least in wet conditions). Of course if your lead elements are attacked and stop to take care of the threat, you can have rest of the column bunch up behind them and become a big target for arty. Cos

Soviet infantrymen used a lot of funny tricks to kill tanks, too, with an effect. After all, somebody, somehow prevented them from entering Moscow and Leningrad in 1941. When it's cold enough in the winter for oil to freeze inside the engine of your tank, that doesn't help either

Luftwaffe Commander for me. Mid-air with that spitfire, no problem just keep flying. Watch the enemy fly into the ground for no reason. A few of the reasons I regretted buying that bomb.
