I think it is just dry grass. When you use the lower levels you can see the grass doodads which clearly show that it is not desert. But I agree that from the higher levels the terrain is very sandlike. I also noticed that the green grass in the other scenario is very green compared to the subdued mods for CMBO, but it is clearly not as bright as the original CMBO grass. Does anyone think the stock CMBB grass is a little too bright or is the subdued grass from CMBO a little too subdued?

Man, am I pathetic or what? (MOD preview inside)
Pvt. Ryan replied to AndrewTF's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yes, you are pathetic. You haven't even finished modding all the infrantry in a game you don't even have yet? Why bother posting anything at all? (They look really nice Andrew) -
Citadel : Bogging in steppe ?
Pvt. Ryan replied to Zarquon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I've had tanks immobilize in steppe, but the rocky area is a bitch. It doesn't stand out as well as the rough terrain did in CMBO and tanks seem to have a lot of trouble with it. In CMBO tanks couldn't enter rough terrain but they can enter rocky terrain in CMBB. I guess the solution is to avoid rocky terrain as best you can. -
He is saying hilfe (help). I learned that in CMBO. I always thought he was saying Hitler too.

Is it good when the Russians yell, "Divide, divide, divide!"? Does this mean they are splitting squads?

What I would like to see is a way to give a machine gun an order to sweep a given area, such as a tree line. I would think it could be done in a similar way to covered arcs. Or is this already effectively accomplished with area fire?

Biggest letdown in CMBB demo so far...
Pvt. Ryan replied to SuperSulo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
When I get asparagus I dip half of them in ketchup and half in mustard. That way I can use the colors to help tell if they are incoming or outgoing. -
Alt+Tab takes several attempts before it actually goes to the desktop. I tried the tip to revert back to ESC, but that doesn't seem to work either.

Demo early- Full game, early??
Pvt. Ryan replied to Commissar's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
BFC released the demo a few hours early because CDV released their demo sooner than BFC expected, although technically not earlier than they should have. -
They are also a handy way to prevent your tanks from rotating their turrets to shoot at crews that are behind the tanks.

See, there's even an echo on the forum when two of us say the same thing at the same time.

I think the release notes state that the sounds are downsampled to reduce their size for the demo. They should sound even better in the full version. I absolutely love the MG34 sound!

Are you sure it's not just two units saying the same thing at almost the same time? I knocked out a Soviet tank and two German tanks said the same thing after the kill.

I updated the driver but it didn't make a difference. I am going to get a new computer and see if the problem goes away.

This is a bit odd.

I sent a file. It does not crash when cycling through with +/-.

I was just going to report the same thing. When I click on my German tank crew the game crashes to the desktop. Win98SE

The peng challenge: escape from Stalingrad?
Pvt. Ryan replied to Mace's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The good thing is that when we ask you to shut the door on the way out, you're going to freeze to death outside in the Russian Winter. We can't begin to tell you how happy that makes us! Mace</font>
