  1. Would you settle for a Chupacabra? (This also satisfies the sucking demand.)
  2. The first time 12 45L66 guns opened up on one Panzer III. Thunk x 12. That was a blast. The first time one of my tank hunter teams tossed a mine/bomb and it actually KO'ed the tank. The first time I saw the death clock in action. One of my tanks decided to bail but the enemy kept pounding it for another turn.
  3. I think BFC will have enough supply on hand to fill all of the initial orders, and definitely the preorders, so don't worry.
  4. I think you have to resample the sounds to get them to work in the demo. I don't know the details of this, but someone has posted it either here or in the tech forum. They should work fine in the full version.
  5. In other words, CM is not trying to be The Sims. Hey, Steve, when is CM: Hot Date coming out?
  6. No, it's never too early. But for your edification, CMBB is CM2. The engine rewrite will be CMII. The next game to be released, regardless of which engine it uses, will be CM3.
  7. No, it will suck. [ September 08, 2002, 06:16 PM: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]
  8. My observation from the Citadel scenario is that tanks are more likely to bog &/or immobilize in rocky terrain. While it is passable, it seems worth avoiding if possible.
  9. I think BFC said that there are slots for all the unit portraits and that it is just a matter of modding the existing graphics. IIRC correctly, they said they could not find photos of all the necessary units for a complete set. Probably not a priority.
  10. The game didn't cause his mental disorder, his addiction to the game was a result of his mental disorder. If his mother had done more to help her son he may not have killed himslef. Holding Sony responsible is rediculous, but I am sure Sony will lose.
  11. Hmmm... this Everquest seems right up my alley. I'll have to check it out.
  12. Yes, I was aware that you have CMBO and I meant to address that point, but I forgot. What I should have said was that if you enjoy CMBO you will probably enjoy CMBB. There is obviously a large variety of fighting situations on the Eastern Front and the demo scenarios are just a sample of what we will see in the full version. The demo scenarios are more of a tutorial for people who played CMBO to introduce them to the new features and resulting need to learn new tactics for CMBB.
  13. I don't know much about battles on the Eastern Front and I definitely have to do some reading. All I can go by is the forces available in the scenario. I went to Amazon.com to look for some Eastern Front books and someone has put together a list of recommendations. I don't know if any of them are particularly good, but it looks like a good place to start. [ September 08, 2002, 02:56 PM: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]
  14. I have played Citadel at least a dozen times trying to learn how to deploy and use inferior armor and inadequate AT guns and infantry to try to stop a superior force. I have played Yelnia Stare several times from both sides while unlearning tactics that worked or were necessary in CMBO. If you don't see the value in these scenarios then maybe CM is not for you and that's ok. I am looking forward to all the neew features that we haven't seen in the demo. Perhaps BFC will add another demo scenario after the full game is released and those who have purchased the game have had a chance to be surprised by the new features. Some companies forsake their existing customers in the attempt to attract new ones. Other companies prefer to satisfy their existing and paying customers before seeking new ones. I think BFC falls into the latter category and I agree with their practices.
  15. Well, sewers smell really bad! Actually, part of the attrition in the sewers is to account for troops getting lost and finally coming out after the fighting was over or coming out too far away to do any good. Having observed sewer movement at a sneak preview, I found it pretty cool and adding a whole new dimension to urban combat.
  16. There is no German FOO in the scenario, so we will never know. If the Germans did have arty it would be even tougher on the Soviets. But, didn't the Germans have air superiority at that point? Wouldn't the Soviets want to try to hide their meager assets? With the steppe as expansive as it is, why would the Germans expect a defensive stand at that particular spot? I've played a few times as the Germans giving the AI a chance to modify the setup. The AI placed the guns at the back of the map in the trees behind the wheatfield instead of out in the open. Even the AI doesn't have a deathwish. But if you are saying that the Soviets would have actually deployed in the open like that for whatever reason, then I accept that.
  17. Is the default setup at all realistic? Why would the Soviets deploy out in the open when they have some great cover they could use to their advantage? Or is it set up that way to encourage the player to expiriment with different deployments?
  18. Perhaps you could use the banner .gif without linking it to Battlefront.
  19. D-R-I-N-K-Y-O-U-R-O-V-A-L-T-I-N-E Tune in next week to help Little Orphan Annie decode the next secret message!
  20. Maybe you entered your e-mail address incorrectly. But yes, you should contact Madmatt.
  21. Those pictures in the banner look like photos, especially the one with the Panthers. Let me go check my mailbox again to see if CMBB came yet.
