  1. That would ofcourse, be the casino tactic. The moniker heralding from the Battle of Monte Casino where the US troops would reply the German artillery barrages until all their casualities were respawned. Dunno, first I heard of this one. But you can bet I'll be playing my movies a few times now until I get the desired result. 2. No, it's true. My German infantry has been firing PF's all along at enemy infantry. I keep yelling, toss the freaking grenades dummy! They do, but they also waste the PF's. The PF units do the same if I tell them to target enemy infantry. That surprised me as I figured they wouldn't do that. Now, the way I see it, the PF units should be firing small arms at infantry not their precious PF ammo. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  3. Didn't know we had a First Army anymore. After the debates I wasn't sure we had an army... ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  4. I'm in a game now where a Marder II fired on an M3 halftrack, and CM recorded an upper hull penetration, but the M3 kept on going. Since the game is ongoing, I don't know if there was internal damage like maybe the machine gun is out, but I rather imagine unless the shell passed right on through and out the tailpipe that something should have broke. Maybe the CD player stopped working. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  5. Hehe, yeah be careful. I misconjugated once. The Ex took me to the cleaners over it. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  6. Outstanding! ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  7. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Teamster Mission! "Attack it yourself, buttwipe, it's our lunch hour."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> LOL Chupacabra. Yeah, I can see it. Miles of angry German Teamsters protesting the increased hours and reduced wages. In a special mission, their leader is abducted and subsequently dissappears. Wherein your goal is to locate him, and you must search through the rubble of Stalingrad to verify rumors that he is buried beneath the Tractor Works. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  8. To simulate the sound of AT fire against a tank turret, place a metal garbage pale over your head, and have the Wife bang the side with a rolling pin. Terribly realistic, and it even simulates the disorientation of the crew. It is also fun for the whole family and can in many cases reduce the frustration of those significant others left out of all the CM fun. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  9. I like the one about the Priest. Here is a similar adventure. I was in a battle for a village in a valley at a crossroads VC, and my opponent had positioned a Bazooka team in a house at the crossroad, then hid the unit. I let it sit there for a while, then when it became annoying, I used a 251/1 with a Pioneer squad to race down the road next to the house, and had the Pioneer squad jump out, run up to the house whereupon they tossed a sachel charge into the building. KABOOM!, and suddenly the house exploded into a ball of flame. Well, the Pioneer squad lost it's bladder and took off running for some rough terrain near by, and the Bazooka team, short a feller, began to run back and forth in the building like the AI couldn't figure out which way to go (all avenues of escape were covered by enemy fire), so after the guy raced around in the building for a while, he pops outa the house and ofcourse, was mowed down by the Pioneer squad that originally caused the problem. It was funny to watch the AI in it's confusion. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  10. I vote Kitty as our Official Morale Officer. LOL Kitty, your precious. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  11. Or, "crapski"! When a tank takes a hit. Like the little feller in my MarderII's who says, JA!, when he roasts a Sherman. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  12. Glad to hear you turned 63 Matt. Happy B-day bud! ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  13. No, not about to shoot you down in a flame war. I'm one of those who believes that finding something disagreeable with CM, does not mean it is "not" the best wargame ever done on a PC, and vice versa, that the fact that it is the best done game, does not mean it cannot be improved. I too find that having units attached to a singular chain of command is not only annoying but unrealistic. Now, I could buy into a reduction in leadership value to units that were not originally subordinate to Commander (a), when finding themselves under Commander (, but never-the-less, it is, IMO a tad unrealistic to presume that a unit separated from it's original CoC, and thereby suffering a morale drop would not receive a morale boost by coming into the radius of another Command unit. As I said, I'll buy into a reduced morale, but the way it is currently set up in CM is not totally realistic. So then the question becomes, are we asking too much? Maybe, I won't debate that if someone wants to toss it back at me. But hey, striving for realism is what brought us CM in the first place. I vote for a continuance of that philosophy. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  14. A sign of the times. What's at the movies now? New versions of old movies. In some cases, a 3rd or 4th rendition. Or the ever popular attempt to sell you yet another copy of the an old movie you already own, by trying to convince you the new makeover has DIGITAL SOUND, and never before seen segments. We tend to live in a time when the walnut shell game has never before seen so much popularity. BTS on the otherhand, has achieved success by demonstrating a willingness, if not basic philosophy of operating completely counter to this trend. BTS used original ideas, thought outside the box, communicated with their clients, used the ideas and suggestions of their customers, maintained good customer relations, and has for all appearances has swept the field of competition away. Perhaps the high level business executives learned and wise in the ways of the walnut shell will take note, and if we are fortunate, begin to copy cat BTS. Perhaps... ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  15. How'd the Finn's get in? Not that I mind, and infact I'm glad. I would have wanted them in CM2, as I also want to see some of the other characters on the program sheet. Realizing you have to draw the line somewhere, I understand all Nationalities involved on the Ostfront would be difficult to get into the limitations of the game. But once again, I must say that the complete ommission of some form of representation of the factions which made up the various Ostfront ethnic paramilitary resistance forces is a substantial piece of military history left out. I can only hope, that we will see actual "German" trucks in the German OOB this time. If not, then for crying out loud at least make sure there's a Ford 2 1/2 ton truck in the German OOB, which were quite common. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss
  16. I just finished a game wherein, an M10, and MarderII squared off in a duel at about 300 to 400 meters, both on hilltop crests. Both fired a first shot which missed, on the second round of fire, both shells passed each other in mid-air, and both shells hit the target. The M10's turret was knocked off kilter of the chassis, and the MarderII exploded in a ball of flame. Bringing up the question in my mind, what if the shells had met in mid-air? Would CM replicate this accurately and we'd then see an explosion in the air mid-way between the respective targets? It was cool though. Ya hadda be there. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno Weiss

  18. Thanks Shuggar, that was helpful to me. Couple of things I didn't know. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  19. Thank you Steve for the explanation. It cleared up a couple of questions in my mind. I am now less concerned to utilize the Puma for example. I did not think about the Allied air superiority factor in creating the German TOE. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  20. Oh brother, it was bound to turn serious. The original topic was serious ofcourse, the unpaid political announcement "Vote for Senator Snort, he'll put a poop in ever pot", was not serious. Someone says, take a poll. Polls are not serious either. Answer this question, yes or no: Have you stopped beating your Grandmother? (Either percentage of answers reveals a National crisis regarding Grandmother beatings). I was in the US Army, 1972-1975. I can say with some historical perspective that the US military is stronger now, better equipped, better trained, more highly paid and of higher morale than it ever dreamed of during those dark years of neglect, which then came from the very party who would now seek your vote claiming someone else ran it down (the military that is). Yes, today's news was serious, shocking to some, expected to others. When you leave a hostile mililtary in place after defeating it, you can probably expect a problem or two to occur in the vicinity for a while. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  21. That's those two in the Hampster party isn't it? Might be a gerbleoso connection. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-12-2000).]
  22. Glad to hear you finally got your copy... LOL, I've seen that commercial and I get the same reaction from my GF when demonstrating my panzer prowness. "Watch this Hon..." And I look back to see her looking at me with this pitiful expression one might give a child upon falling off their bicycle for the fifth time. Yes, I'm sure your GF is just going to love all the quality time you and your monitor will be spending together. Personally, I'm thinking about giving CM away as Christmas presents. One for my boss, so he'll thereafter leave me alone, definately one for the ex's lawyer, and maybe one for the GF's teenage son (who knows, maybe he'd enjoy some virtual drive by's for a change... the zero to 50 mph acceleration in under 20 seconds of the M5 could radically alter modern urban gang warfare). Hehe, maybe CM needs a commercial with a guy chasing down a Stuart in an open flat, then reaching down it's barrel and pulling out a can of Dew! As for discussions at this forum, well it's fairly well known that each topic winds up being something of an adventure. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-12-2000).]
  23. SOLD THEM?!? Hehe, "Yes folks, this is Sixgun Steiner here with yet another hot postwar deal you just can't refuse. This little baby (dealer points to the fender of a Panzer Mark IIIj), was only used by a little old Sturmfurher from Dusseldorf to deliver the morning milk to the orphanage." (Dealer smiles brightly into camera). ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  24. I think John captured the essence of your first question. That said though, I'm wondering and didn't know, that CM was that sophisticated. IOW, that CM had sub-varients automatically placed into the OOB based on dates? Like, the later late Panther G, versus the earlier late model G. The second issue of the Wespe has also been answered, but brings up another well discussed point. The German OOB was replete with 75mm SP guns, of which CM only has the halftrack version. No STiG, motivating some to deploy the Wespe into that role. Is that gamey? Beats me, I'd just rather had the tracked 75mm SP guns to begin with. And ofcourse, German softskins to replace those nasty looking dodge trucks. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
