  1. Any of the following would be welcome additions to the authenticity of the the German OOB: Buessing NAG 6.5 ton truck or, Krupp 3 ton 6x4 or, Henschel type 33G1, 6x4, 3 ton truck or, Daimler-Benz, type G3a or, Opel "Blitz" or, Krupp "Boxer" 6x4 Kfz 70 ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  2. Probably stood for "abgetragen", meaning worn out, and in need of oil. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  3. Well said Kingfish. Exactly how I do it. A "random" for time of day, and weather, results in an unknown for both parties, thus limiting the ability of one party to sway anything in their direction, but also allowing for a more of a tactical challenge and therefore fun for the whole family. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  4. Beautiful as usual Tiger. Since ya just can't seem to leave well enough alone, hehe. Does ya know anthing about 3D wireframes and how we'd insert them into CM for German softskins, (trucks). ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  5. Well, I did forget to mention I used some Hampster litter. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  6. What!?! No Hampster trenches? LOL Mensch ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  7. Yep, same thing I was saying yesterday. One of my infantry teams just up and dissappeared. I've listed em as AWOL ofcourse, but spent a half hour in the pouring down rain in some French village trying to find them. Now I got a cold on account of not having an OOB visual list. I'm told this is all old hat, the oob visual list idea. Hey, maybe my team slipped over and borrowed your boat and took off for some fishing. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  8. Thanks guys, didn't think I was the first to think of, or ask about this. But like I said, didn't have a clue what you'd search under... Less it was Peng. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  9. I dunno Tiger. I just had a Sherman that was bogged get loose by reversing it, and not attempting to rotate it or go forward. I figured like a real vehicle, it would be easier to just reverse than try and chance getting in deeper or turning. It worked, and the now the lil crew is happily on its way. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  10. Unless you have a Voodoo 5, in which case most likely when you return your textual graphics look like the street signs on New Years Eve. All blurry. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  11. Well, seems the Amerikanish trucks in the German OOB were a whitewash... ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-05-2000).]
  12. Alright, there is one small thing bugging me. I need a battlefield OOB visual of some sort in CM. I must have spent a half an hour last night in the cold pouring down rain somewhere in France, looking for an infantry team that wasn't anywhere to be found. Now, none of my vehicles were missing, so they didn't heist one and go to Paris. Leaving me to deduce that either they hightailed it for the rear area, or were efficiently dispatched by my opponent to the everhere cyberafter. "We commend these lil cyber souls to..." Pretty easy also in all the excitement of battle to overlook the little fellers too. I'd really like to have a battlefield OOB visual, (Pulldown, popup, buttonpress, whatever), that listed all the units in my force and their current status, if not location. The latter being of less importance. A bright little programmer type could ofcourse dress it up with all manner of fancy info, but basically I'd just like a quick list of who is who, and where'd they go type of thing. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-05-2000).]
  13. LOL Borg! The NY Times aye, hmmm, I'm impressed. Congrats to BTS! ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  14. Agree with all sentiments. Actually, I picked up on the review at Computer Games Online a couple of months ago www.cdmag.com and that was the first I had heard of CM. What stunned me was that CG gave CM a five star out of five star rating. They just don't do that! At least I've never seen them do that. I decided right then, I had to see what all the hubbub was about. Rest is history. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  15. One ladder, two ladders, three ladders, four... Sure, why not. Nice site Don. Glad to see you's guys added CM. Ya done tha right thing. I just registered. Say, when might we see a CM tourney? ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-04-2000).]
  16. Sshhhhh, it's das Hampstern's covert operations. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  17. Panther, change your screen resolution to the desired setting, delete the Combat Mission Bynd Ovr Pref's file, reinitialize CM and it should then add the current desktop resolution to the options that it asks for you to choose from. CM defaults to the current desktop resolution. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  18. Well with my luck, Murphy's Law, and database fragilities being what they are, my name would end up on some newly created Volksturm kitchen unit with a picture of that ugly guy that looks like something out of the Nightmare on Elm Street. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  19. Personally, I want to know, what % of Republicans we have on here. I have a neighbor that keeps wearing a blue suit and red tie to work, and I've told my dog not to poop in his yard any longer. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-03-2000).]
  20. The Partisans, the partisans. My understanding is that thus far BTS has remained silent on this issue. While not of a similar importance such as the Kiwi's, never the less partisans played a significant part at times in the overall scheme of things on the Ostfront. Particularly in that during various periods of disrupted and ever changing loyalities involving many of the ethnic populaces, these forces often engaged both German and Soviet forces, sometimes each other. But there is no doubt of their role in fighting the Germans, and of the fear that they struck into the minds of the Axis forces. It wasn't a very good idea to fall into the hands of the partisans. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  21. 1. 1024x768 2. Yes 3. Yes, 56k modem I have an archive file with all the mods in compressed zip form, and a "patch" folder in the CM directory with each and every mod listed separately. In addition, I use another directory with separate folders for the original CM "wav", and "bmp", files. This allows me to easily plug mods in and out as desired. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  22. Yep, and 29 smackers ain't bad for this. Sobering was an earlier comment and very appropriate. While I was watching it, I began to reflect upon the reality of those years. It is all too easy to study the equipment and strategy and pure raw numbers without seeing the pain and anguish of it all. Playing it on computers, boardwargames, and miniture wargames too often only lends to a feeling of excitement and glory. I think it important to periodically review the essence of it all as it really was, and for what it really was. War, is not something that anyone who has ever experience it ever what's to see again. 23. I believe it's pronounced; "D-zer-hez-insky", at least in the Baltic regions, now in Japan it's "Ahso-didjano-himoto", but in Alabama's best Southern drawel, it's just "Densky". ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  24. Thanks to Mannheim for reminding me of this. I'm watching it right now, and it is stunning. I've seen color clips ofcourse, many of then lengthy, but I have never seen a continuous stream so vast of the war all in color. It is so real, so much like you are there. Excellent footage. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss
  25. Jagdwyrm, if that was our game, it was probably your units initial reaction to the advance of my obviously overwhelming and superior forces on the field. Either that, or one of them lit a cigerette and the resulting smoke, as the AI is programmed to detect, triggered the United Federation's (SFFE) Schmoke Force Field Enveloper, which, as is discussed in other threads limits LOS, shells, bullets, lazer beams, nuclear warheads, or any penetration whatsoever save for the Top Secret superweapon, Das Hampstern. ------------------ "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr von Leben" Moto-(3./JG11 "Graf") Bruno "Stachel" Weiss [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 10-01-2000).]
