  1. I didn't think you slept at all John, judging by how often you're able to post here. Regards Jim R.
  2. Rest assured Richard, it was the mocked up "Marder" which took the shot to kill the sniper/sharpshooter call him what you will. The Tiger was the one that fired the deliberate shot at the building alongside "The Alamo" causing bricks, dust and mortar to shower down on our hero's basically knocking them senseless. One of the few smart moves made by the German forces in their attack on the town. So, do you want my postal address here in Oz so you know where to send the Guinness? Regards Jim R.
  3. One question for the attendees at Rune's place. Did anyone get to see/hear a Stuka attack and if so, was there that characteristic siren sound as they carried out their dive-bombing run? That would be bloody fantastic if that was in IMHO. Regards Jim R.
  4. Thankyou Vanir. That thread was just what I was after. Much appreciated. Regards Jim R.
  5. Thanks for the responses to date. Because I have a limited budget, I'm wondering whether getting a 64MB GeForce4 Ti4200 Dual VGA (more expensive by about A$140)) is significantly faster than the older but with more memory 128MB GeForce3 Ti200 AGP card. Does anybody have any good information on these two cards? Regards Jim R.
  6. I know this is slightly off topic but the reason for wanting the comparison is so that my new machine will run CMBB as smooth as silk. I recall seeing a table someone kindly posted to this bulletin board which compared the speeds of all the different (recent) video cards. Does anybody know where I can find that topic or able to post a link so I can see how the various video cards compare? Thanks, in anticipation. Jim R.
  7. That is very interesting John. As the report says, the optimum engagement distance for the 95mm howitzer is "600 to 700" yards which just so happens to equate to the distance that many CMBO battles seem to occur over. Therefore, perhaps the 95mm howitzer really was an effective tank killer at these ranges (or less) but once you get around the 1,000 metre mark or greater it should become pretty much useless unless extremely lucky. Has anyone conducted tests with the 95mm howitzer at ranges greater than 1,000 metres against (say) Panthers? I bet I know which tank is going to come out on top (especially if using Cromwell CS tanks for the test bed). Regards Jim R.
  8. Just one request from the guys at BFC. Can you perhaps delay the release of CMBB until the Aussie dollar gains just a bit more in value against the American one? Timing is all important. (Ducks for cover) Regards Jim R.
  9. Why does the title of this topic remind me of Daffy Duck sitting in his pond on his star movie debut uttering the immortal words (or were they mortal words?)...."I wonder where all the hunters are today?" Regards Jim R.
  10. I thought the neutral steer system was copied from Churchill tanks captured from the aborted Dieppe raid. Could be mistaken though. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. Regards Jim R.
  11. Everything comes back to the release date Vanir.....everything! Regards Jim R.
  12. Well, at least we should be thankful they didn't name their new company:- BFC9000, which could well have implied the intended release date of CMBB. Regards Jim R.
  13. Warwick? / / / / / / / / / / / / / Don't worry, it will only mean something to people who live in Oz. Regards Jim R.
  14. Errr... either that was a mutinous situation you've just described or that AT gun was really 57 mm. Regards Jim R. [ June 24, 2002, 07:18 AM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
  15. One of the side-effects of what you're doing seems to be a general thickening-up effect on the tanks road wheels due to this area always being in the shaded area. Perhaps it's just me but your changes seems to have given a more solid suspension look to all the tanks. Just for that effect alone I give it 2 thumbs up. Regards Jim R.
  16. II, Sect 3 here again. Just to update you Treeburst with the encouraging news that I have heard from Tabpub. He wasn't able to send me the startup file as apparently he never received it so if you could get onto that a.s.a.p. it would be greatly appreciated all round. At least we are now making progress. Regards Jim R.
  17. T II, Section 3. Still haven't heard boo from Tabpub despite having emailed him although he has previously said in this forum that he had a serious case of the "she who must be obeyed" offensive causing disruption. Anybody else had any luck with Tabpub? I'm still waiting on a setup file so I'm very much at 1st base. Regards Jim R.
  18. Ohhhhh... I like the sound of that. Does anyone know if we can pre-order this custom form of delivery? Regards Jim R.
  19. May I ask, where does one get hold of a Tarkus interface mod or at least be able to see what it looks like? Thanks in advance. Jim R.
  20. When I saw the topic I was about to say... lucky girl but then I saw the responses and realised I was thinking at a lower level. Regards Jim R.
  21. Good to see your iMac ptoblems have been sorted out John. I'm certainly looking forward to reading your AAR's once the round of this tournament is complete. They're always entertaining. Regards Jim R.
  22. Re Tourney II, section 3.... anyone heard from Tabpub yet? I'm still waiting for him to send me the setup and haven't heard boo to date from him. All my other games are now underway. Tabpub... come out, come out wherever you are! Regards Jim R.
  23. I hope I'm wrong on this but you may have no luck with Cogust. He's been missing from the BoB site for weeks now despite numerous attempts from Jarmo to get in touch with him to complete an ongoing battle that is being posted as an AAR. It might be prudent to get some feelers out to see if Cogust is still prepared to be part of this tournament. Regards Jim R.
  24. Just a word of warning to all opponents who play against Ghost 358th... just don't mention that you have spent time watching sub-standard war films sometime in the past, he gets easily upset! Regards Jim R.
  25. Everyone seems to have the view that it is imperative to use tanks or T.D's in pairs at the very least, if not in troop numbers. One thing that doesn't seem to have been considered is the use of terrain to guard the flanks of a single T.D. (say) while ensuring a relatively narrow field of fire is available for your T.D. to respond to threats. Admitedly, the German T.D's are much more suitable for this but I have just played a game where my solitary JgPz IV/70 took out 2 of my opponents Challenger tanks in a 1,500 point Meeting Engagement. This was mainly because I was able to manoeuvre around a small building and isolate each tank in turn despite them being within approx. 50 metres of each other, so that only one of the Challengers could fire at my T.D. to retaliate. The better sloped armour saved its life once from return fire (but only after it had already fired its killing shot) but both times it was able to make use of the surrounding terrain to protect itself. The point I'm trying to make is that a single T.D. can still survive and be quite effective even against potential multiple opposing AFV's if terrain is used to its advantage. Regards Jim R.
