  1. I was able to run through wadi scouts in less than 15 minutes, when in 1.10, it took me at least two hours. I am able to FF through a lot of inactivity and stuff I am not interested in. Not only that, but the replay is incredibly smoother than the first run through in 1.10.
  2. There are now other people having the problem of being locked out of activation after driver upgrades. They are spending more support time on the DRM thing than on real game issues at this point.
  3. The sad part is this is a great game. I think it could be the best naval wargame ever, with just a few things added. The DRM issue, as well as the pi** poor attitude of the guy handling a lot of the communications is really limiting thier market. Real WW1 naval grogs shouldn't pass it up. If they're not that passionate about the subject, the above issues will keep most away.
  4. Finally got the game working and felt I should clean up loose ends. Here is the response I left on their support serve: "It worked this time. As I have said, it seems to a great game, potentially one of the best I have ever played. But this polling DRM is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth over it and keeps me from really giving an enthusiastic endorsement. I have worked for years in factory automation and most of those large companies went to polling or dial home periodic activation and abandoned them years ago. They abandoned them because of support costs mostly, but also because of customers really hating it. They almost all use HW dongles of some sort or one time activation. And these are SW packages costing 10's and 100'of thousands of dollars. I think SES is setting itself up for failure on this one. Unless you set up round the clock support, you are going to keep finding yourself in this situation. Thanks for your help, I really do appreciate what you guys are doing. I don;t want you to fail."
  5. I just bought this yesterday and it is a great game. Unfortunately I have to give fair warning about its DRM system. It requires initial activation (like eLicense), but then requires that your system contact their server every seven days or it shuts down your license. You then have log back on and reactivate on their server. There are all kinds of issues with this in places I travel. It basically means on my two and three weeks trips to some parts of the world, I won't be able to play this game. When I bought it, I thought it would be like SES's Distant Guns, which requires only the initial activation. But thats not the worst. I upgraded my video driver after an hour of play in Vista. I turned UAC off and then on to do this. This seems to have screwed up the DRM and I can no longer play because SES's server is asking for me to reactivate my game, but it then tells me I already have an active game. I am now coming up on 24 hours with no access to a game I paid almost $60 for. SES has had almost no response to me. They have no forum or contact info. They have no email to support. They randomly reposnd to stuff on the gamesquad forums. Support is all through a ticket system on their website. Since my problem started, I have had one brief response to my ticket to try to reactivate and then nothing. For the hour I played, Jutland is a great game, but I would strongly recommend not buying it until they straighten out the DRM system.
  6. Actually, I am one of the two who still play it regularly. I preordered it and have played since day one, except for times when it was screwed up. I never remembered a refund being offered. But, there was a lot more to it than that. They originally released the game with an editable OOB, but locked it in one of the patches. That left a bitter taste in my mouth about HPS. The one thing about that game in particular is that most of the changes and fixes were driven by the Air Force. That said, it is very good today.
  7. It is refreshing to see the tone of the company being very remorseful and contrite. It also shows in the responses on the company's boards and wargamer boards how even a completely broken game and screwed up launch can be forgiven when a company tries to do the right thing.
  8. Developer/Publisher realizes within a couple of days that they shipped a broken product because of an artificial deadline. They did the honorable thing. http://www.wargamer.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=318513
  9. I excrete gas after a heavy session of salsa. Hmm...wonder if I could do diesel?
  10. Regardless of my sig., I, for one, welcome our new reptilian and earthquake sensing overlords.
  11. No the action spots are still 8x8, but they did do some subdividing for LOS, I think. I know area fire is still on an 8x8, as well as how squads assemble at waypoints and stops.
  12. Even using your math, 400 sq.m vs 64 sq. m = 6.25 better, at best.
  13. There needs to be an observer mode that at least lets you watch an AI plan. It wasn't needed in CM1 because you couldn't directly influence AI behavior anyway. But when you have to put, sometimes, complicated plans together in multiple groups, lacking it really hobbles AI planning quality. It forces me to try and keep all AI scenarios very simple, not because the AI couldn't handle it, but because I couldn't debug it.
  14. Read the last page of the CMSF a step back thread...Steve basically says no.
  15. Being able to change out a unit would be a huge help in scenario development Also, picking a platoon at a time for US forces, like you can for Syrian tank forces Being able to know exactly what unit you get for tanks, AFV, snipers, etc. before actually purchasing them. I am really thinking of just OOB selection, whether QB or editor. I would like to see QBs working better, beyond just OOBs. I still find things in wrong places, facing the wrong way, etc. The manipulation of maps and parameters to make sure you get a certain type of map is also frustrating. My expierence with QBs is limited lately, so maybe some of these changes are already done. I gave up on QBs after 1.05.
  16. Are sure the weapons weren't damaged? I have seen BMP crews bail if the they are damaged, but still mobile. I tend to see it happen with heavy suppression and damaged weapons. I have never thought to try and remount the crew.
  17. Just to make sure I understand; this new OOB system won't be in CMSF, ever. But it will be in CMSF2 or what it ends up being calle.
  18. Steve, I am talking about the scenario design system. If I have to tweak the balance of a scenario, lets by changing out an M1A1 with an M1A2, I have to delete the entire battalion.
  19. Will we be able to change out small formations or units without having delete almost everything else?
  20. Does the 10/1 date cover all previous download purchase, or only ones that happen after 10/1?
  21. If you had to buy OFP 1 or ArmA 1, which would you buy and why?
  22. Wow, never know where you'll find a Firefly reference. Hats off to a man of good taste.
  23. Invoice is what Dodge(Chrysler) sends a bill to the dealer for the car. Dealers get all kinds of incentives and subsidies that add to the profit margin. They may on make $300 selling at invoice, but then CX gives them $1000 for carrying the car for longer, for financing threw CX finance, for getting you to buy genuine CX accessories, etc. On average, a dealer makes about $3000 on a mid-range car. They make even more money by having you bring it to them for service. They make even more if you have a warranty issue that CX pays them to fix. The best way to buy a car is get a few quotes on line directly through dealerships, get the Kelly Blue Book value of your used car, and go to a dealership and just pay the price. My recommendation for anyone buying a car is buy a used higher end car that still has 3 or 4 years left on warranty. Do it through a dealer for that brand make sure its a certified used car of the appropriate brand. Where you want to really shop around is in the financing. Make you feel comfortable with the rate and the company. You won't generally have a problem with a finance company recommended by the dealer, but keep them honest.
