  1. That's not gamey at all. We all know it happened for real because it was in a movie, albeit in probably the most incorrect war movie in history of film making: Battle of the Bulge. If I recall correctly, the train lost. It was done over in one of those Bond movies, I think the train won. Don't forget to add : "I made him growl and show his teeth"
  2. It's quite simple actually. No need to go via CMBB or CMBO. 1. check if your operation map is not bigger then what is the allowed maximum size for a scenario map in CMAK. If so, you will have to cut at the edges.(I don't recall the maximum sizes) 2. open operation map in CMAK editor (not the 3D, but 2D screen!) 3. open Pyewacket's map converter (Click "read CMAK") 4. switch back to CMAK editor, close operation map and open "new battle" in 2D screen 5. switch back to the converter screen and click "write CMAK" 6. when conversion completed, go back to CMAK editor screen. You will see the same operation map, but now in scenario size. You will need to extend the edges to get the full map visible. 7. save as scenario map in the folder of quick battle maps or scenario folder. Achtung! Pyewackets program only converts maps and set up zones, it doesn't transfer the forces. You will have to add them yourselves, same with other parameters proper to a scenario. You can invert the map in any direction you like though. Cheers!
  3. Obviously when I stumble into a tread about 'what should be in ', I need to ask the question: Will there finally be a 'follow the leader command' of any sort for vehicles and units on foot alike. I mean this could be well similar to an embark command, couldn't it? Example. Menu: 1.Plot by means of way points, itinerary of leading unit. 2.Allocate units to group move order. 3.Check box with options: follow in column or in line (or diamond shape or whatever...) 4.Define deployment mode at end point: -stay in column -deploy in line or diamond shape Execution Just like the embark command, the allocated units use shortest route to starting point of leader. Allocated units follow leader in his footsteps or tracks, with off set distance in between, proper to column, line or diamond configuration. At end point, allocated units deploy as per a.m. options. This would help reduce plotting time by 10. I don't care for time penalties in execution, since latter would reflect the time lost in communication of orders, but at least it would reduce ...input time. Please tell me.
  4. Hate to be nitpicking, but US forces also saw King Tigers in their ToO. More specifically in the city of Mons, Belgium. There is a picture circulating on the internet of a knocked out King Tiger in the streets of Jemappes. IIRC, It was destroyed by US Air Force attacks and Sherman fire on Sep 3, 1944. Don't understand quite well, why Battlefront proposes a segregation of allied forces for their opening module, that - if I am not mistaken -spans the period from D-Day until Arnhem, A so called "Commonwealth module" would also do injustice to French, Polish and other troops, that made their contribution. If they really would like to milk this cow, I would rather prefer seasonal and regional sequences, like summer in France, fall in Holland, Huertgenforest and Lorraine, winter in the Ardennes, Rhine-river campaign. All of these episodes would have enough new goodies to make them sell and would allow to include specific vegetation or building characteristics for each region.
  5. Turned out great, except for height levels, which should have been CM mode level 0-19. Indeed the terrain in the Ardennes is little bit less flat then the pool table I have now. See DEM below :
  6. Thanks Sarge, Can you send me youre e-mail? I will send a .map file to your address, since I cannot upload readable file to the forum. (just e-mail me via the profile)
  7. Since not many people are reading the scenario discussions anymore, I will try my luck here: When trying to export, Mapping mission doesn't seem to recognise the downloaded CMBB version, I have currently on my lap and systems hangs on a black screen. Can anyone export an Mapping Mission File to CMBB. It should be exported to an operation map, since size is 4000 m x 2600 m. zip.file attached in below link : http://www.battlefront.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=261&d=1236965162 Thanks to anyone who wants to help out .
  8. Hi Sorry, but I need once again assistance of some sort. When trying to export, Mapping mission doesn't seem to recognise the downloaded CMBB version, I have currently on my lap and systems hangs on a black screen. So can anyone export an Mapping Mission File to CMBB. It should be exported to an operation map, since size is 4000 m x 2600 m. zip.file attached. Thanks to anyone who wants to help out . cellespat.zip
  9. Sorry for my ignorance, but does covering behind vehicles or wrecks, gives you an extra protection factor in CMSF?
  10. I am not so sure, If I need all these artifacts cluttering my screen, if they are not functional. I am talking about the doodads, that is. Of course some details, will help to improve the immersion effect. However, I would really appreciate if we have below terrain features included, some are already mentioned. - small brooks (Anyone remembers Thomas Klimisch Marsh mod for CMBO?...that was in 2000, anno 2000 like in 1 B 911). -please let water flow over various levels in the terreain and don't lock to one level if tiles form one continous stream. (An implementation in CMAK, I actually never liked) -Bridges : Besides the typical arched stone bridges, -Small wooden bridges: -Medium Steel Bridge: -and of course, Arnhem style bridges. -Furthermore, we need quays, you know the straight walls, that go into the water along rivers, canals and docklands. Please add a river barge or two or a fishing trawler. -Same with station buildings, please add some quays and, as already mentioned, some lost railcars on the railyard, which give at least some cover or concealment. - Water towers for the FO's with a death wish. Rowhouses Obviously, you have different style of rowhouses in the cities than in the villages. I think you should also be able to put houses next to each other on different level in climbing streets, hilltop villages etc... - Factory building, smoke stags... - Cobbled stone roads (Think bicycle race Paris Roubaix) - Barbed wire fences, - Castle farms or chateau : Did you see the gate and the iron fence? - And especially in the 'bocage', we need sunken roads and of course the... hedgerows. Else, medieval towngates, railroad tunnels, locks or dams, and most important, the chicken scoop and the backyard dunny. That's it, should be easy, no ?
  11. I thought her name was Mrs. Browning. I will refrain from giving comments about the ..ahum.. lipsticks at her feet.
  12. Exactly my point! I don't doubt the honest intentions of the parents -or whoever is in charge- in this particular case, but making a child behaving like this, make my toes cringe. I don't think, that a child of that age fully understands the signifcance of the event and in my opinion, it actually degrades the symbolism of paying respect by saluting. If I was a veteran, marching in front of him, I would be rather annoyed, instead of feeling honoured.
  13. Battlefront clearly stated that they wouldn't develop 4 legged animations, even when they have one leg raised.
  14. I cannot belief that you just wrote that, right? Please, just tell me, you left the screen open and your little nephew took the occasion to ruin your marketing and public relations.
  15. I don't care if my pixeltruppen suffer from delay. The main point is, that I shouldn't go through the repetitive manipulation of plotting way points for each and every element of my platoon, that will go anyway to the same spot. Can we finally include a follow-the- leader command?
  16. In order to get me rid of my frustration and save Kingfish from Dante's inferno, is there someone out, who is familiar with the use of Mapping Mission 1.12 and is able to export a map from Mapping Mission to CMBO or CMBB? Thanks again.
  17. Well, I wish by helping me out, you pave the 7th. path to Nirvana. E-mail on its way. Thanks!
  18. Hi, For some reason, I am not able anymore to export maps, that are made in MM, into CMBO. I tried to slice my latest creation into smaller segments, but to no avail. The program hangs and only shows a black screen. Secondly, I seem to have lost my CMBB CD. Since the map is a bit big - approx. 3 x 4.5 km - I guess it would be easier to export it to CMBB instead of CMBO. I am looking for a good soul that wants to export my map into CMBB and convert it into a CMAK map with CM converter, so I can work from there. Thanks for helping.
  19. woohahaa...I was more thinking about something like this: click on FULLSCREEN QTVR of the BOIS JACQUES picture
  20. Bwah...Screenshots confirm my impression that West European rural landscape is considered as South African bushveld in the game.
  21. ...but, but cowbells you will find only in Switzerland, right? The chickens have been eaten and the geese and ducks are turned into paté de foie gras. May I put my vote in for ...frogs! We need definitely more frogs on the battlefield. [ August 09, 2006, 01:01 PM: Message edited by: McAuliffe ]
  22. Bannon, Did you download the viewer Google`Earth already? If you open this up and you go to your preferred location, you just press CTRL+ALT+S . In order to use it as an underlay image in mapping mision, you have to transform it in a .bmp image though.
  23. You fool! All chickens were already eaten. That's the last noise you will hear on a battlefield. A rooster making his wake-up call, has signed his death sencence at the same time. Now you mention it. Normandy is actually very good duck country. So, in order of 'pok, pok, pok, pwoaaak!..' we should have 'kwék, kwék, kwék, kwaaak...!'
  24. P012541 tells us US Navy landing in Normandy  Makes me wonder, does anyone have experience with walking around for a whole day with leather army-boots soaked in salt water? Doesn't look too comfortable to me. Once had my dock-sides wet in the surf. Mixed with the beach sand, they started smelling pretty bad. yeah, yeah, I know... the other 5'998 are okay.
