Is there FOW when counting enemy soldiers?
Henry Kearney replied to Ace Pilot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Was it a Soviet unit and can you identify what type of HQ it is? It's possible that the HQ section just consists of a single officer for certain platoon types.(I think I recall seeing this in the Red Army Handbook - need to check) [ October 25, 2002, 03:53 PM: Message edited by: Henry Kearney ] -
Concerned about the AI. Should I purchase
Henry Kearney replied to andrewsk's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
If you play against the AI most of the time like I do, you'll find that while it can be predictable at times on the offence, the huge variety of situations in CMBB can make most quick battles fascinating. And if you let the computer pick forces, sometimes you'll get handed a very difficult situations, like when I got pasted by the AI when I had infantry with no armor against a Soviet combined arms force. -
What's an Ampulomet?
Henry Kearney replied to buckshyesh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Whoa, I can't believe they included that! It's an anti-tank mortar. Zaloga says they were ineffective & only 12 confirmed tank kills were recorded. I think they came & went in less than a year. -
First Game of CMBB - What are you Drinking?
Henry Kearney replied to -Havermeyer-'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Got it last night. Fired up a QB and popped open a Yeunglings lager. -
My copy has been sitting in the Post Office since Monday & they didn't tell until a day later!! Will have to pick-up tomorrow first thing before they lose it or something.

NYC: CMBB is here
Henry Kearney replied to Silvio Manuel's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Did you get it in Queens? If so I'm hopeful it arrives in the Bronx today. Geez, yesterday not only did I not receive CMBB but I had to deliver 3 pieces of mail to my neighbor that got sent to me by mistake (must be consript mailman). -
Got mine today, who reversed the image?
Henry Kearney replied to Tim S's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Tim - thanks for the notice! I live in da Bronx, where mail delivery is very iffy. Mailmen here like to dress in street clothes and deliver other peoples mail to me. I can still hope.... -
Gamespot has a preview of CMBB. FYI
Henry Kearney replied to Slippery_Pete's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Finally get to see a screenie of the qb generator. Lots of options & new unit types (even has Heer Security Divisions), but what are those "wg" units ?? -
Demo decision blues...
Henry Kearney replied to Barrett's Privateer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Barett's Privateer, is your username a reference to the POB series? -
My computer is almost identical pIII600, tnt2 m64, 576mb ram. Demo graphics look great @ 1024 x 768 and are much improved over CMBO. Framerate is not a problem either, at least so far

CMBB Demo - official announcement
Henry Kearney replied to Moon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Great, I leave for vacation on Sept. 1. I'll probably miss the pre-order announcement, and have to wait for the second batch to be pressed like last time ....arghhhhhhhhh!!! -
Schrullenhaft, I think you hit the nail on the head. I downloaded mp3 files from Scipio's web site and simply renamed them as wave files (shows you how much I know!). I'll try converting them and see if this works. Thanks for the prompt response and all the help you've provided on this forum. Henry

I recently noticed that on my PC, the sound files are being played from the CM CD instead of my hard drive. I have modded many of the sounds and never had this problem before. The graphics are properly modded though. I tried repairing the CM installation using the install/uninstall utility, even deleted from my hard drive and reinstalled to no avail. Whats really strange is that the exit sound file from MadMatt's sound mods plays when the game exits. I recently upgraded to DirectX 8.1 - maybe that's causing this - any ideas?? Perhaps the covered arc command in CMBB will be able to be used with moving AFVs??

Okay SuperTed or MadMatt...

A shiny new BTS website??? -
Is the 128mm Pak44 L/55 a field gun?
Henry Kearney replied to Freak's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
It appears there was a field version mounted on a six wheeled carriage. There is a photo in the Steel Panthers World at War unit list. I also recall seeing a photo elsewhere. It's a real monster. Probably take an entire game to unlimber! -
New Wav files for CM2
Henry Kearney replied to John Kelly's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I definitely agree. If BTS doesn't have the time/resources to add sounds for each weapon, maybe they could just expand the sound map and replicate existing wave files into new slots. Then users could change the sounds as they wished. -
Let's also not forget the Slovaks. As far as the Spanish & Croatians, these operated under the direct control of the German & Italian armies, respectively, and IIRC, would be using the TO&E. It would only mean adding the appropriate voice wave files. Come to think of it ,it would be pretty cool to add some of the SS non-german nationalties(dutch, flemish, etc.)

Still have not received my copy!!!!!!!!!!
Henry Kearney replied to Kuroth's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Uh Oh. Sounds all too familiar. Ordered on the 19th, CC charged on the 20th. E-mailed BTS & received a reply on the 30th that it would go same day via overnight..... Still waiting w/ fingers crossed.
