  1. I haven't used it in CMBB yet, but the sunflower picture looked so good, I downloaded it immediately. CMBB needs more color.
  2. James Coburn was COOL back when it was being defined in the '60's. He was one of the original batch of anti-heroes. Very cool in the Magnificent Seven. Also in Charade as a bad guy. He was even slick and cool as a James Bond parody in In Like Flint. I used to get Coburn and Lee Marvin mixed up. Now they are both gone. Fortunately their movies keep them alive with us.
  3. I'm finally taking the plunge with CMMOS 4. I downloaded various earlier versions and mods for CMBO, but I never installed them because I was afraid to mess up my mix of single mods that I liked. Also, there were a lot of odd files, icons, and batch files involved. Those all scared me. But I like the clean new CMMOS look with previews in version 4. I like keeping it all zipped so I don't have to go into the folders to rename files to select treads and slogans and such. I think Gordon has finally made CMMOS dumb enough for me. Of course, I haven't installed it yet, but I do read instructions, so maybe even a lawyer can figure it out. BTW, I like the new mods a lot too. Thanks guys. And thanks to MrNoobie for getting his CMMOS mods going. I've downloaded the old ones, and I really want to use them with CMMOS. Now hopefully, the other modders will join up.
  4. Having met a bunch of fellow CM players in real life, I can tell you that we would be arrested or sent to an asylum in mass if more than 10 CM players gathered in one place. Actually, we had about 15 at the first DC area meeting, and we managed to get strange stares from every babe in the bar. We resembled a convention of Unibomber look-a-likes. If you think these guys are weird on the forum, you ain't seen nothing. Worldwide geographic dispersal is God's way of protecting us from each other.
  5. Thanks for all your excellent work, Gordon. Take a well-deserved rest and enjoy the game. We'll still be here when you come out of retirement. Cheers, Jake
  6. Simply amazing! I downloaded them immediately. I'm tired of the plastic faces that come with the game. Your work is really good. I hope you keep at it. I've got everything you've done so far.
  7. Much better, COG, but don't go into interior design. You are too fixated on primary colors. But we "luv ya" anyway for what you do so well, which is to get the mods moving our way quickly and without hassle. Thanks again.
  8. I download your mods regularly. I also play a Hungarian (now Belgian) who exults in the exploits of Hungary. So these mods are needed to help me through. Thanks.
  9. Well, COG, your site is the new Wal-Mart of CM. No stylish presentation (and no "Happy Face" greeter either), but you give us the mods we want with no frills. It works, even for a 56k download guy like me. Now I vote to change the whorehouse green background on your site to something more tasteful and subdued. You may be Wal-Mart, but you could give us a better appearance, much like J.C.Penny's. We don't expect Nordstrum's, but we would like to preserve our retina's for a few more years. I don't know what it is about you tech savy guys, but you all choose glaring colors that attack human senses for your websites . I don't give a hoot about ads, except they take time to load. Don't give us the old "user ID" crapola either. If you want to keep statistics, just count the user downloads. That is the only stat that makes sense. Again, many thanks for your work. You seem to understand the KISS principle. We will all benefit if you stick to it.
  10. Ummm.... I can't see the pictures, Mr. Panzer Leader. Please fix or do somefink.
  11. CM is my favorite game, so I bought a G4 4200 with 128RAM. All is well now until the next upgrade adventure.
  12. Me too! If you make 'em, I'll download 'em and use them. How is that for a fair division of labor? Many thanks for your excellent work.
  13. Face the facts, Noobie, yer a pusher... But we addicts love ya anyway. Keep on pushing. [ November 14, 2002, 09:27 PM: Message edited by: Lawyer ]
  14. Yes, indeedy, you do reason like a NewSocialistMan. Why not delve a little deeper and try a different tack from thinking the good ol' USA was going to slog in out for years and years by throwing soldiers at Hitler's Germany. The A-bomb was ready to go in 1945, and Hitler was the first target until the collapse of Germany. The enormous multi-year conventional bombing of Germany should give you a hint that the will was there to finish Germany through a bombing campaign. The US was not going to match Germany man for man on the battlefield (or Russia during the Cold War for that matter). No, the US used its technology, logistical planning, manufacturing advantages, transportation superiority, and strategic forethought to the maximum in waging war on its own terms. The US won in WWII, both European and Pacific theaters, by using its strengths. The war in Europe was over (one way or the other) by 1945 when the A-bomb was a reality for the US offensive, regardless of what the Soviets did by throwing millions of men into the battle. In other words, the WWII-extended scenario in your make-believe world would not have been an endless contest of infantry manpower resources. Technology then, as now, was at the stage where manpower was not the controlling factor. The US had the advantage where it counted, and the US used that advantage. The Soviets used their advantages of manpower and space to counter Germany to a stalemate before taking the final offensive. Could it have been done without a West Front or the US winning against Japan? Considering that the US started from scratch in 1940 or so, I think its performance in WWII is all the more admirable.
  15. Mr. Noobie, can we talk? I mean I really, REALLY like your Russian tank mods. You da Man!!! But are these Russkie mods of yours different from the whole bunch of Noobie tank mods I downloaded and installed just last week? If so, that's great. I'm downloading them now. But I'm a 56k download guy. So I want to be sure I'm not wasting my time doing what I did last week. Knumsayin'? Hey, who loves ya, baby...
  16. Juju, the picture at COZOG for your street mod is the wall mod. I'm downloading the streets now hoping I don't get 3.7MB of walls. BTW, I already have the walls. Thank you.
  17. COG, Your site is now where I spend most of my time after seeing mods mentioned on the CMBB forum. Once again, many thanks for running it and letting the modders get their wares up quickly for us to download. No middle man. Your attention to maintaining the site and getting it up is commendable. We do appreciate you!! Many thanks for the work, time, and $$$ you spend to help us enjoy CMBB. Cheers, Jake
  18. Well, this post definitely qualifies as your own personal take and speculative guess about fictitious alternate outcomes of WWII. While you are certainly entitled to your fantasies, the simple facts are that the U.S. is still leading the world while both the Nazi and Soviet regimes have met their ends in ingnominious defeat while trying to best the Americans. Hmmm... Maybe those Americans had something going after all. [ November 12, 2002, 09:13 PM: Message edited by: Lawyer ]
  19. Now THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. With a I will apply my immense legal skills to downloading and installing your mod, if I can get through to it. I just got a G4 4200 with 128MB RAM, so it sounds like I should be okay. I play at 1280x1024. Many thanks, Juju.
  20. Wonderful mod, Juju, just like all your others that I have for CMBO! Now I'm a little confused by the prior messages about texture depth and CMBB between you and Kwazydog. Are you going to release a smaller download that gives us the hi-res without the super hi-res that kills a system? I want to get whatever works best, but I don't want to kill my system for pavement. Thanks.
  21. Couldn't get them, Juju. But I got your girl instead. Hehe.... Seriously, when and where can we get them for real?
  22. First, I'm a big hi-res mod slut. I got that way in CMBO when the beautiful mods made it a whole new game visually. I love their work, I appreciate their effort, and I use their mods. Second, I prefer the "dirty" look as long as it doesn't make the unit unattractive. By unattractive, I mean that I want to see the basic details of the unit and appreciate the unit itself more than the dirt. Now I agree that covering everything in dust or mud would be entirely appropriate for the Eastern Front. But would it be visually pleasing for a game like CMBB? I don't want it go too far. After all, there are lots of things that are authentic to the Eastern Front that we don't see. Like desolate civilians, fields littered with mutiltated dead soldiers, killing fields, etc. Frankly, I prefer CMBB to NOT be realistic in certain ways, and that's the way BTS has gone. So back to muddy vehicles, I'd like to get the flavor of it without being overwhelmed by it. After all, the whole look is already very BROWN. We need some detail and color relief to see the units and enjoy them. Basically, I think Gordon and the other dirty modders are doing it just about right. Today, I installed a bunch of mods, including RKSoldat's truck and Mr. Noobie's tanks. These are excellent. I'd like to see more along these lines. Gordon't effort to standardize the dirt is also worthy. Once again, I applaud these modders and hope they stick with it. I like their approach. A LOT.
  23. Great. I'm using Winzip 8.1, so it's a new version that works with all the other zip files. I hope it works this next time. Thanks.
  24. Mike, I downloaded the Soviet pack 2 from cm.cozog.com twice today. Winzip won't unzip because it is a bad file. Can you fix it? Also, what is the difference between vol 1 and 2? They look a lot the same, but vol 2 looks better to me from the picture you posted. It looks terrific and I hope I can get a copy that unzips. Thanks for your good work.
