Range for Wittmann Tiger Knock-Out
Kingfish replied to rexford's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I've seen accounts that state the range at 700 / 800 meters. Ken Touts 'a fine night for tanks' goes into detail about this particular engagement. I think it even shows a sketch of the battlefield from one of the vets who was there at the time (maybe even Joe Ekins himself). Besides Franko's scenario I would also recommend you look at 'Cintheaux-Totalize' from Der Kessel. ********SPOILER************* * * * * * * * * Note the position of the towed 17pdrs AT guns in the woods north of the Petite Ravine, and the Tigers of the 101st outside Cintheaux. From what I read, the Tigers took a more or less direct path up the road towards Gaumensil (sp?) and thus exposed their flanks to the 17s. The point where the Tigers come into LOS of the guns should give you a decent range estimate. -
Alright, where is KwazyDog's mod?
Kingfish replied to AnonymousOxide's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
A cool kitty from a Kwazy dog Kwazydog's Panther Mod -
Drop the elevation of the water by at least 2 values from what the road is set at. IOW, if the road is elevation 7 then set the water to a 5. The bridge should then blend into the road.

HQ running ahead of the platoon
Kingfish replied to x13th's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
He might have come under fire as he was walking, perhaps from a sharpshooter, and that caused him to bolt towards the closest cover, that being the house. Just a theory. -
IIRC, the first sighting was in 2000, in the Arnhem Op. A German A/C was knocked out atop the bridge, and a few seconds later the crew bailed out, but they were quickly followed by another, then another. Every few seconds a new crew would appear, one right after the other, all the while being mowed down by the Paras defending the bridge. The screenshot showed the knocked out A/C with about a dozen or so dead crew all around. I tried a search, but couldn't find it. Hopefully someone can dig that gem up. Definite BUG relating to StalinScenPack.
Kingfish replied to Cpt Kernow's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I did that in the beginning of game 2, and was able to continue up until almost the end of game 4. As wwb suggested, you should send the saved file to Matt. -
The funniest (and rarest) CM moment is without doubt the appearance of the 12th SS Panzerclownische bug. There have been only 2-3 confirmed cases, with one guy managing to get a screenshot. Simply hilarious.

Availible only in custom made scenarios, the order can only be issued to Veteran or regulars in command. The entry and exit points are only the large heavy two-story buildings. So, it certainly is possible to have sewer movement in a village with several of these buildings present, although I seriously doubt any designer would include the feature. Apart from fighting for air, no. Only in scenarios depicting street fighting in Miami.

Definite BUG relating to StalinScenPack.
Kingfish replied to Cpt Kernow's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Capt, I've informed the designer of your problem. Not sure if he can help, but one never knows. For what its worth, I was one of the testers of this Op, and I didn't encounter any problems saving and replaying, but then again I didn't rename the file. Did you encounter the problem after you renamed the file? -
Soviet Flame Tank Costs
Kingfish replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Given a choice between the BA-6 and the BA-10 I would choose neither, and instead go with the A-10. Sure, rarity is a bitch, even when using substitute Russian pilots. Still, having the ability to plink Tigers from 4 miles away with a Maverick, or go thru a column of Panthers with the chain gun, smells like...victory. -

Newbie question - how do you call in artillery?
Kingfish replied to warspite's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Could that possibly unhide? In CMBB, spotters cannot call in a strike if they are hiding. Check to see if your spotter is hiding. -
Follow vehicle command on pillboxes !
Kingfish replied to GravesRegistration's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
That command was originally added to work only against Finnish pillboxes, which as you know can be lifted by a single Finnish soldier and redeployed in the middle of a battle. -

Kingfish replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Gents, Just got an e-mail from a friend of John Kettler. Apparently he is still having computer problems and may need a new one altogether. I'll see if I can get any more info later on tonight, but for now it looks like he'll be out for a while. -
