  1. My favorite is to log into the CMHQ chat as 'jwxspoon' and ask if anyone wants a game.
  2. No. I designed all of them the night before, with the exception of Hosszupalyi, which was slapped together minutes before the start of the tourney. For the Briefings I just cut and pasted from various articles on the web, some which didn't even pertain to the actual battle. However, don't get the impression that this was done out of desperation. On the contrary, this was planned well in advance, and done so that the other designers could relax and enjoy their free time, rather than waste countless hours researching, designing and testing a scenario that someone would eventually call a huge, hulking P.O.S.
  3. Want to talk about unrealistically slow turning rates? Try to turn an assault boat.
  4. There were actually 5 Generals that achieved the rank of "General of the Army" (5 star). They were: General George C. Marshall General Douglas MacArthur General Dwight D. Eisenhower General Henry H. Arnold General Omar N. Bradley However, of these only 4 were army men. General Arnold was given his 5th star when the U.S. Airforce was still part of the army, and known as the U.S. army aircorp. I believe it was 1949 when the two branches officially split, making Arnold the only Airforce man ever to hold that rank. Of the navy: Admiral William D. Leahy Admiral Ernest J. King Admiral Chester Nimitz Admiral William F. Halsey

  6. ***Attention ROW I & II vets*** Please e-mail me the following: ROW I scenario "We can't wait" w/ attached briefings ROW II scenario "St. Mere Eglise" w/ attached briefings Thanks, Sergio
  7. Gents, To date I have received AARs from the following people: King of Debrecen Spanish bombs Nolloff Seahawk Rearguard action Nolloff Vadr The Beast Spanish bombs Nolloff Shock trooper Holien Lt Bull Cpl Carrot The Christmas battle No AARs!!! Hosszupalyi Spanish bombs Vadr Holien I'm sure everyone is aware of the bonus points AARs contribute to your total, so that alone should be incentive enough to submit one. However, there is another equally important reason, and that is it provides much needed (and appreciated) feedback to the designers. Each AAR gives the designer a better idea of what people like, or don't in a ROW tourney. Therefore, each AAR contributes to a better tourney experience next time around. So....please take a few moments and write one up. If you've submitted one already, but don't see it here, then chances are it was lost in transit, so you'll have to resend it. Please send all game results and AARs to: sc112565@aol.com Thank you, Sergio
  8. According to some of the guys who've tested the 1.02 patch, the effects are minimal. As for whether or not to upgrade, that decision is best worked out between you and your opponents.
  9. Gents, Small request: when sending game results and AARs, please include "overflow" in the e-mail title. Thank you, Sergio
  10. Great idea. Please send me a copy when you have it finished.
  11. Gents, So far I've received about two dozen votes, with 'no patch' having a one or two vote lead. However, several of you have stated that, because of ongoing games outside of the tourney, you will be forced to upgrade regardless of the final outcome. This makes the tourney wide vote rather pointless, so there is no need to send me anymore votes. Therefore, I'm going to leave the decision to upgrade to you to work out with your opponents. As always, feel free to e-mail me if you want to discuss this. Sergio [ February 08, 2003, 04:19 PM: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
  12. Gentlemen! The subject of the upcoming patch has been brought up, and I think now would be a good time to address this issue. Because this is your tournament, the decision should be made by you. Therefore, I ask that you all vote on whether or not to upgrade your ongoing games to the 1.02 patch. I would prefer that you e-mail me with your vote, rather than having this thread fill up with 72 'yes' or 'no' posts (I'm sure the guys at BFC would prefer it as well). One quick point, I don't think the Nabla system would be affected by a patch upgrade. To Nabla, a 60-40 score is the same in 1.0, 1.01 or 1.02. However, as Mr Spkr pointed out, the way the game plays might be affected, and thus result in different games altogether. Something to consider when casting your vote. Anyway, I want to see e-mails from all of you. Please pass the word around to the other members in your section and let them know. Thank you
  13. AFAIK, wind only affects smoke (the direction of the plume) and fire (the amount it spreads).
  14. Egbert, I sent you the allied password for Hosszupalyi yesterday. Any luck?
  15. MrSpkr, I did not receive the results for your Hosszupalyi match. Please send me the final score, and who played the axis. James Crowley, Likewise, I do not have the results for your game with Sgt Gold in King of Debrecen. Please send as well. Thank you
  16. Please send all game results and AARs to me. My address is: sc112565@aol.com This thread is the single spot. I post all news and updates here. Unfortunately, no it cannot (at least by anyone other than the admins)
  17. Gentlemen, To date I have received the game results for the following matchups: King of Debrecen SlicerW vs Mr Byte Nolloff vs Seahawk Sgt CDAT vs Wellsonian Jaws vs Joakim Heavy Drop vs Mick_OZ Scheer vs Wade_PM The Beast Mr Byte vs Stoneage Wellsonian vs Nolloff Holien vs Bertrtam Juha Ahoniemi vs Combined Arms Jon_L vs Jeb Enoch vs Bimmer Sripe vs Jaws Wadepm vs Nidan1 U8led vs TexasToast Michael Dorosh vs Cpl carrot Hosszupalyi Michael Dorosh vs Holien Combined Arms vs Enoch Matt Green vs Lord Dragon Flammenwerfer vs Jaws Vadr vs Cpt T Sgt CDAT vs Seahawk Dirty Mark vs Sripe Stoneage vs Lt Bull The Christmas Battle Rearguard action Nolloff vs Sgt CDAT Flammenwerfer vs Dirty Mark TexasToast vs Vadr If you've finished a battle, and don't see it here, please let me know. John, any word on your new rig?
  18. Gents, I was updating the game results spreadsheet and noticed that I have nothing for 'The Christmas battle'. If anyone has finished this game please let me know, and while you're at it don't forget about the AAR. Thanks
  19. I did, but don't think there is anything (yet) to worry about. He is a ROW vet, and did announce his absence ahead of time, so I'm more than willing to cut him some slack.
  20. Therein lies the problem, IMO. You are better off dividing that convoy over 2-3 turns, with each truck starting off every 20 seconds. That way, the logjam will affect only 2-3 trucks before the turn times out. In addition, it reduces your losses if you run into an ambush.
