  1. Just a guess, but perhaps the computer doesn't assign the normal 'stealth bonus' to the attacker's foxholes as it does to the defender. Also, are you sure you're not seeing old foxholes from previous battles?
  2. Cos is right, this is part of a famous filmclip of a Pershing / Panther duel litteraly underneath the Cologne Catherdral.
  3. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Want to see what a scenario with horses would be like? Take a huge map, add a few trucks as substitutes for the horses. Now hitch a few guns onto the trucks and have them transport the guns from one end of the map to the other. There, you've just played a artillery hauling scenario with horses in it. Want some variety? Take the same map and trucks, but this time remove the guns. Once again, run the trucks from one end of the map to the other. There, you've just played a resupply scenario with horses. Think of any others?
  5. Ted, Did you get my e-mail re: the fourth ROW scenario? For some reason my e-mails to you keep getting bounced back.
  6. Are you asking for horse drawn carts to be included? If so, for what?
  7. The flip side to that is when reinforcements arrive too close. One of my biggest pet peeves is having a column of vehicles appear in LOS of the defender. I played one such scenario where 4 groups appeared, one after the other, in the crosshairs of a 75mm PB. The only reason the fourth group escaped with minimal losses was due to the smoke of the burning vehicles from the first three groups.
  8. VJ, The Allies never had a 14th army in Italy. The two that fought there were the U.S. 5th and British 8th. Together they comprised the Allied 15th army group. The Germans did have a 14th army in Italy, as well as the 10th. The two made up the German army group 'G'. Perhaps your maps show allied advances going thru 14th army positions, as they did once the Anzio forces broke out of it's beachhead and began it's advance on Rome.
  9. Matt lives in Cinncinati, and Dan is in Oz, so I wouldn't exactly consider them local, but everything else is correct.
  10. Yeah, SuperTed and the designers are kickass, but will you look at the crack team of reserves they have assembled!!!
  11. Try the 'Ham and Jam' scenario that came with the CD
  12. I find the most effective urban warfare tactic is to nuke the site from orbit. Quick, concise and to the point.
  13. It was designed for covert insertion of espionage teams via the St. Lawrence seaway and over Niagara Falls.
  14. Run a LOS check from the HQ unit. Whatever he sees can be targetted by the mortars (assuming the target is within the mortar's min/max range) The target line will be yellow. This is because a mortar firing indirectly under HQ control can only use area fire.
  15. You are correct. Until they get a positive ID on the Tiger? they will assume the worst and react accordingly. You should be thankful for that. Had the Tiger? really been a Tiger they would have been meat on the table. Instead, their reaction assures that you still have 3 functioning Cromwells in which to use.
  16. Hmm, lets see... I recommend the following scenarios: 'To the last man' 'Into the east' 'Chambois' 'A rock in the flood' 'The firey French' The first two are by Andreas, and can be d/l from Der Kessel. The last three are from Wild Bill, and you can snag them from the depot. As for maps of the area, I suggest you contact Moon. He has a good collection of Normandy maps to choose from.
  17. Thanks guys, I got the scenario. Thanks again, Tom.
  18. Can anyone e-mail this scenario. I know I can get it at Der Kessel, but I don't need the mods that are included in the download. My address is in my profile. Many thanks.
  19. Check out Ken Tout's book 'A fine night for tanks'. It gives a good account of Operation Totalize from the Allied perspective, and describes the Firefly ambush in detail.
  20. Lafeyette Pool(US) and Joe Eskins(Brit) come to mind. Lt. Pool and his crew racked up 258 vehicle kills from June to Sept '44, ranging from Kubelwagons to Panthers. Joe Eskins was a Firefly gunner with the Northamptonshire Yeomanry, and is credited with 3 Tigers (including Wittman) on one day.
  21. Then it appears to me that you have answered your own question, that of whether Finn pioneers should be included in the game at all. If Finnish pioneers were traditionally used in tasks which fell outside of the scope of CM, then they too must be considered outside of the scope of the game.
  22. This begs a bigger question...will Pioneers (Finn, German, whatever) be able to clear/deploy obstacles, destroy bridges, etc in CMBB? If not, then what mission will Finnish Pioneers be undertaking in the CMBB battlefield?
  23. Yes, but there the SS are known as 'Waffen Banditos'.
