  1. I agree it does, but isnt stating the obvious against all of the principles that these challenges are based on? You should have said, that my skill arranging letters into legible prose was akin to a dunkard writing his name in the snow with yellow ink
  2. By leaving the barley unattended, the farmer was announcing to the world I dont give a dam, but that is not impotant. What does merit mention, that I, a scum-sucking, cess-pool lurking, monster truck hating, yankee noob was able to wander into the court of Peng and provoke a reaction. Albeit this reaction may have been small; like a cur scrathcing a flea on her backside, i did make the court of Peng raise it's collective paw. Do I detect a deterioration in the defensive perimiter, or was this just a release of excess gas from all of the Hormel Corned Beef hash?
  3. Like the testing of nuclear bombs in the sea of Japan, your diatribe has awoken a great beast who will lay waste to your lands...... I was not aware that my accent was making my posting difficult for you to read. Who made you the Obersturmbahnfuher of the Phonetic Police. Yes we all took Linguistics 101 in college, it was an easy A. At least the tip of our lovely peninsula/island is dedicated to our forefathers the Pilgrims. Contrary to popular lore the Pilgrims landed here first before venturing over the Plymouth. I bet you all thought you know all there is to know about history (I'm a wargamer, I could be a professor). What’s on the tip of your lovely island, a disease research center, lovely place to vacation. that’s wicked awesome If have offended any of you blokes, go and have a pint on me. At least you can cry into it and bore your local tavern wench with yarn about your being throttled by a noob on your own playground. And for those hung up on the Kings/Queens English; the word "yarn" as used above is defined as a tale, especially a long story of adventure or incredible happening. Now I must end this sojourn, leaving all of you lying beside the road as a farmer would leave a newly hewn field of barley.
  4. been lurking here for many years and I just dont get it do you Peng folk play the game or just post on the forums???????
  5. i've been here since the beginning CM1....dont tell me to search the forums, but could someone please explain the Peng challenge in easy to follow terms
  6. we would need water to do Market Garden
  7. Im trying to really like this game (thanks BFC for keeping up the hard work on updates) BUT whenever I play a scenario two things usually happen as soon as I hit the go button either I lose half my forces as my setup zone is in LOS of the enemy or my troops start to move and they immediately start to get hit by ARTY and I lose a bunch of men WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO MANUVER OR MOVEMENT TO CONTACT?????
  8. What it comes down to for me is this: Everyone is entitled to make a profit, so I dont mind paying BFC full price. By doing so I am supporting a small business that puts out a specialized product (real wargame) that not many other companies produce. By searching for the cheapest vendor you are taking $$$ out of BFC's pocket versus buying directly from them (all $$$ goes directly to them). That said, I do feel cheated/taken advantage of that I paid such a high price for an incomeplete product. I have bought ALL of the CM releases directly from BFC at full price. Up until now I did not mind paying the full price, but now I feel my loyalty has been taken advantage of. I do have hope that future patches will make the game playable. I wont play it in current state- bad pathfinding still and even worse AI drives me nuts, although it does run great on my system. In closing I hope that in the future BFC takes it's loyal "core customers" into consideration and considers the effect it's actions (even when leveraged) will have upon their core customer base.
  9. Infantry movement problem.... playing "House Clearing" infantry moved to wall and into 1st building by gate...(no problems looks OK) fought it out with forces in left building of the 3 level one structure that are connected...took building and moved in (no problems) ISSUES START ordered infantry to blast move to next level one building connected (move from left to right in 3 connected buildings next to gate) they all whent prone (OK) blast destroyed wall (Great...plan is working) infantry squad ran to roof to enter next building via roof rather than through blasted wall (argggggg...thats me screaming and also the sounds of my squad getting cut apart as they run across the rooftops out in the open) guess Ill wait until 1.04
  10. We have all marveled the deadliness of the weapon systems within the game, when designing scenarios this must be taken into account. I’m designing a scenario were some reinforcements enter the game on the flank of a battle in progress. In play testing the game, 60% of the reinforcements were rendered combat ineffective before I could even get them orders (playing elite level no pause). In CMx1 the effectiveness of the weapons allowed a scenario to have reinforcements arrive or starting positions to occur within enemy sight without disastrous consequences. This is not a criticism of CMx2, just the reality of the technological superiority of the weapons used by modern day forces. With that said, when designing a scenario don’t have forces set up or reinforce in the enemy line of sight....LEAVE ROOM FOR MANEUVER. Its not really that fun when you push the “BUTTON OF DOOM!” (the red start button) and within 5 seconds every weapon on the board is firing at a target. If you do design a scenario where the forces are in sight of the enemy initially, make sure you play test to ensure that they have a chance of survival. As a side note...CMSF is such a hot game (thanks to all involved in its creation).... No really it is a hot game....have a 1 ½ inch blister on my leg from the heat from my laptop (running on high detail!)
  11. how about Cuban Units want to do a Red Dawn Scenario WOLVERINES!!!!!!
  12. ditto here: the first couple of times I saw incoming ATGM incoming, I paused the game in a frantic effort to issue an order/do something that would save the vehicle/crew/passengers...but to no avail now all I do is close my eyes and hope it misses/fails to penetrate (yeah right!)
  13. One of the great advantages of the fictional nature of the setting, is that there is carte blanche on creating scenarios. Since this war never happened, no one can critisize your scenario for "historical" accuracy. Plus as the creator of the scenario, you don't have to wrestle with "how far am I straying from history" in order to create a fun and playable scenario! All of you time can go into the creative aspect.
  14. same here....definately need a command that everyone just drops and takes cover
  15. how about some light infantry to simulate RDF scenarios rangers airborne/air assault and spec ops (maybe with some cool toys and spotting capabilities to find the insurgent forces before they attack!)
  16. Spoiler... I have had no problem with my infantry breaking. I just equip them all with Amulets of Heroism and they always go in.
  17. Here's a way around the point limit dictating map size. Create a MAP in the editor, you determine the size then let the AI auto-generate, then save it in Quick Battle Maps. Start a QB an import the MAP. Works like a champ........
  18. I live in upstate new york and no CMBB here either. I checked the mail today (Sunday) just in case (we are all nuts you know). If it is in MA and NH on Saturday I should have it tomorrow. I shoulod be getting a bad migrane tomorrow while im at work, just about 11:30.
  19. I came home yesterday (Thursday 9/19) hoping to find a message that CMBB was shipped in the US. What I came home to was a video card that had been hit by an 88mm. I hurriedly called the manufacturer of my PC as it was still under warrantee. They galdy said they would replace it. The sad news was that it would be 5 to 7 days until I got the new card. That was a blow more severe than could be dealt by a IS-2, with CMBB shipping the following day. Alas, when I came home today there was a package on my stoop. Initially I was dissapointed thinking it was CMBB, but I could not play it due to my "brewed up" video card. Upon further inspection I realized that it was my new video card. I was happier than Guderian with a fresh Company of Panzer IV-H's. This was a sign that I cannot ignore, I WILL GET CMBB on Saturday (I live in NY- close to VT). The gods of Wargaming are wathing over this grog.
  20. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally Posted by Pud Given that QB can now use custom maps, this will be the way to go. Make you own map and still have FOW (extreme), doesn't get any better than that excpet may 19-0. Alas, I must prognosticate that we will probably be watching the Pats wreck the Chiefs while getting our fix wtih CMBO. Maybe by the time the Pats crush SanDiego we will be enjoying two joyous events, 4-0 Pats and CMBB
  21. From the signature of Kanonier Reichmann Better art cost more $$$, I'd rather have a quality game than a crappy game with good artwork.
  22. Nothing...I wont take the time to stop for a drink when the game hits my porch..............
  23. Just a quick poll.....which will you play a quick battle or one of the scenarios thats comes on the CD? I'll probably play a QB with human buy just so I can use some of the new vehicle and troops types. It wont be to histoical, but it will be lots of fun. Once I have had my fill, I will resume my "grog-like" ways and go historical. Even if I dont get the game by the weekend I will still enjoy watching my Patriots march to victory over the Chiefs.
  24. Hey guys (BTS), this may be a nitpick, but look at the screen captures on CMHQ. The two that have the game bar (SU-85 and infantry)have nice GREEN clear terrain in the occupied terrain box. Should this show clear terrain, but with snow? Thanks for all of your continued hard work!
