For5 those of us still able to stand upright .... http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/81098068/ If you can't stand too long , you can take this out to scout terrain ... Now , if you have the need for speed ... For handling rude young punks that don't show us old geezers respect !! I've said , for the LAST time ... "STAY OFF MY LAWN!!! " http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/09/transformer_robot_can_transform_into_a_robot/ -
Nice !!! I know what you mean ... Always looking at terrain , wondering what it would look like as an ASL map , or , as a Gamers TCS tactical game with the contour line maps ... I'm still 18 ... with 30 yrs experience at being 18

Up Front still has no equal , IMO , for fog of war table top gaming ... I use the system to generate man to man miniatures gaming with my 1:35 scale troops ( yes , I am getting old ... from 1:285 scale to 1:35 ! ) Oh yes ! I forgot FirePower/Close Assault , Soldiers , etc. ... yep , bought practically every man to man board game , back in the day ... I still do have my complete SL/CoI/CoD/GI AoV set , all of the SL/ASL mapboards and all of the German/Japanese and US counters and untold numbers of US vs German scenarios ( i gave the other nationalities to gamers having time to use all those pieces ! ) ... flaws and all ASL Kampfgruppe Pieper I & II were my favorites in "game-land" ... until Battlefront series of CM:BO ... Bring on the next generation of WWII Tactical game !!

48 here !! started gaming with Avalon Hills Blitzkrieg , Luftwaffe and Panzer Leader at age 10 ... long before civilians used computers to play games ... then the ORIGINAL Squad Leader , and then ASL ... moved onto miniatures ... Then I moved onto The Gamers games ... having kids isn't conducive to setting up games with hundreds of cardboard counters or hundreds of 1/285 scale armor , so , I gave up gaming .... CM:BO pulled me back into the gaming world ! Now , this ?? Selling off many miniatures and many of my Tactical games ( except Up Front ...my all time favorite military game )... Thank You Battlefront for giving me an accurate "miniatures" game not requiring hours and hours of painting of armies and a game not requiring a large table area , and a game I can play over long time without tying up a whole spare room for weeks/months ...

Panther D before Panther A.
Abrams replied to gunnersman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Panther II timeline according to Doyle/Jentz in their '97 Osprey Book , Panther Variants , 1942-1945 ... Hitler agrees to "up armoring" the Panther in Jan 1943 ( original Panther IIa ? , my designation ) First production scheduled for September 1943 . The only difference between the Panther IIa? and the Panther D was the armor thickness . Feb 1943 ,plans to re design the Panther II(a?) were drawn up to standardize with Tiger II (Panther IIb ?) March 43 , production of Panther IIb was set for early 44 ... By April/May 43 , interest in Panther II (a? & b? ) was gone ... Only 1 Panther II(b?) chasis was made .. which is at Ft Knox , KY , Patton Armor Museum ... I have seen and touched this ... it has a Panther G turret on it ... http://www.panther1944.de/en/the-last-of-their-kind/panther-ii.html http://www.generalpatton.org/ The Panther F ( often called the Panther II in older books in my collection ) was drawn up early 1944 ... It was basically a Panther G with the new "small turret " and more hull roof armor , sliding hatches instead of hatches on the hull , an MP44 ball mount in the front hull and all the mounts , ect needed to mount the new infra red night unit . Planned first delivery set for March 45 ... Something about bombs falling from the sky upset production http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=137097 http://www.portierramaryaire.com/fichas/panther_5.php -
Talk about thread drift !!

Panther D before Panther A.
Abrams replied to gunnersman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes , Panther II was definitely before the G and A , and concurrent with the D ? ... basically ... and some II upgrades were incorporated into late war G units , the steel road wheels and other mods ... -
2 Kompanie / 654th Heavy Panzer Destroyer Battalion saw action in Normandy with JagdPanthers , vs. the Brits ... Module 2 !

Panther D before Panther A.
Abrams replied to gunnersman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
The Panther II was an up armored/redesigned Panther ... It was to have had many parts standardized with the Tiger II , including an 88 mm main gun ... The only known Panther II chassis is indeed at Ft. Knox at the Patton Museum ... It has a standard Panther turret (G I believe ... let me dig out my pics ...) ... Many of the Panther II upgrades were used on late model G Panthers ... The Panther F was a continuation of the "Standard" Panther series with a slightly upgraded G chassis with a smaller turret ring for the Schmalle turret ... -
Looks nice!!
