  4. Okay, I am not a pro but let me try: 1. As mentioned by others, scounting planes and radars can detect the incoming shells and rockets in flight. Based on their flight path, the launching source cand determined. 2. To inspect the imapct crater and one knows the angle of impact and thus the distance of the shell travelled.   5. Actually, iirc, originally, Atomic was contacted by AH to produce "Beyond Squad Leader" but the project was scrapped. The product develops further into CC. Later, not immediate, BTS was contacted by AH and you all know the rest of the story. Both initally intended to reproduce SL on PC and the scale was similar but the final products are quite different. No spoilers but I have played as German against Allied AI, May be I got lucky I have a Major Victory at the first try.   11. Add a gain of salt. Artillery pieces used in WW2 had wheels but they did not have engines to move around by themselves. They need to be towed by horses, trucks, heavy movers, or half-tracks. The same happened to PaK (or AT guns). First they were towed, then we have Tank Destroyers. To improve the mobility of the artillery, the gun piece was mounted on trucks or even tracked vechicles. This is done so for various reasons, I can think of 2: 1. Artillery is needed to keep up the advncements of the troops as they move "faster" than before. 2. Counter-battery-battery (CBB), this is not modelled in CMBO but in other titles like World at War and Tiger on the Prowl/Panther in the Shadow. Once the shells are fired, it is necessary to relocate your artillery to avoid CBB. Ask the Iraqi how damaging CBB are as they lack SPA during the Gulf War.   12. The great things about the first 20 minutes of SPR is the realism and the graphics of war dispel the glorifications of war protaited by many old Hollywood WW2 movies. War is senseless, cruel and bloody waste of life. This made many people questioned their wargamming hobby initally back at the Wargamming newsgroup!   16. OT about earthquake. I live in a piece of land where no major earthquake. But when I went to LA in 1995 to visit my younger sister there. I had the chance to experience a 4.1 scale earthquake and iirc, it was almost 2300. It was so minor or brief I didn't even know what happened at the time but her housemates, who experienced the great earthquake in 1991, were shocked. This experience still lives within my memory. IIRC, V1 and V2 rockets are so devesgating not because of their explosives, but their high speed, tanslated to great momentum, teared down building with sheer force.   17. Nabla, [serious mode="ON"/] Good post. I think Steve and Charles mention in various media and also here that they are still hearing, reading and locking out our posts. I am pretty sure they are still the minority of this industry who don't rush software out driven by some stupid marketing people and listen to constructive advises. They actions have proved themselves so far -- that's why we have 1.0 without TCP and now 1.1 with TCP included. There are already a large number of discussions about CM2 or even CM3 back in he beta demo days. I am sure they are on their drawing board right now working on various thing we suggested or even we left off. Since all we know that CM2 covers the whole Eastern Front battles dated from June 1941 to May 1945. It will be bigger and badder than we have in CMBO right now. Charles, KD, Madmatt and others have mentioned form time-to-time, here-and-there, there will be a number of possible fundamental changes in game mechanisms like "rat warfare" in Stalingard and really long range tank battles. I agreed with Elvis and I would add if we keep the constructive and mature discussions going here, we are helping to fuel and construct a better CM2 over the already great CMBO.   18. If I can pick troops in QB, I always pick at least 1 Sdkz-251/9. A descent 75mm gun with a good load of hollow charge (HEAT) for AT purpose. I usually use them as infantry support AFV and travel just behind my fornt line men. Or as rear-guard to counter nasty "Armor-car at the back door" tactics.   23. Okay, let me try: 1. T&L means "Transformation and Lighting". It accelerates these operations but iirc, Geforece only supports 1 light source. For detail treatment, check out Tom's hardware site or Sharky Extreme. (Okay, I admit that I have not checked these sites first) 2. No, CMBO does not use T&L afaik, you may wish to try Quake3 to see how it ranks. 3. Higher FSAA setting in Geforce do use up system resources but I don't think it is cpu-related. It slows things down but it is arguable that it is not in par with Voodoo. 4. Nope, CMBO uses 16-bit color. Hope it helps.
