  1. Trust me your only regret will be not having a human on hand 24 7 to play once you dip your toes in. The comp is never the same. No recon by fire. No spraying areas when things are no longer spotted. No operational type reactions ( oh he.s hooking here ill counterattack ) thw AI only can immediately react. Ai plans just give the illusion of reaction that you get with the crappiest human amd even then theyre so difficult to do right - imagine youre basically giving orders for a battle without knowing how itll play out or what the other side will do. Im not gonna mock you or bash you pal, Id love to bring you into this aspect it completely makes CM worth it 5x over what itd be without. I can only imagine if I could get DCS multiplayer to work what thatd do to DCS for me. Game runs for but not MP
  2. No problem thats what i use anyways and generally everyone who pbems
  3. If you pbemed in cmx1 tour trnsition will be seamless its ezactly the same process
  4. Ok. Its not too complicated. Once u play pbems youll mever look at the game the same. Its amazing. The first game we play we.ll discuss whats going on and ill explaim what im doing. I only habe sf2 in 4.0 but i have almost everything else in 3.0 cept cm:a. Ill evem pbem u in that if u want In sf2 ill play uncons vs your choice of blue if u wanna qb itll be easier for sure if you take usmc or us army... Trust me playong ahaonst a human is sooo much better and soo much more rewarding
  5. Thanks. Yes id love a pbem Sgt. Pm me or email a db to jeffclark1111172@gmail.com I like probes or attacks because the force ratios are close but you still habe the realism of an attack. Any other way you like it though Id love. Thanks to you all though - much love and a Merry Xmas
  6. That I ever had. Firstly Im looking for pbem oppos come one come all - got everything cept Brit module ( always will regret that ) How did I come by that with a record, son, crap job, and all sorts of problems? When I cant justify even spending 5 dollars a pop to up my other titles? Its because of the extreme generosity of several board members Ive talked to for years who EXTREMELY generously gifted their beta testers final copy to me (Nidan1, RIP, Sburke, mkjerner) and in this case @Lethaface made my Xmas - he upgraded all my CMSFs I dont post this to brag - its a tad embarrassing but Lethaface refuses any gift back except to keep playing PBEMs and Id like to just point out how utterly kind and generous it is for a guy who lives in Europe, and has never met me, to see my love for the games and spend his hard earned money to let me enjoy my hobby! Its just utterly generous, benevolent and I cannot thank you enough. I know Im very divisive and I often upset people and make a fool of myself. I truly wish all of you a Merry Xmas or whatever your beliefs are - and Id like to thank all of you for being here to talk, provide interesting conversations; even unintentionally being a constant in my life when it was all chaos ( literally. I went to jail a few years once and got out now there were smart phones. Most my friends were dead or locked up. My mom was there. And BFC was there. It always was.) I cant thank all of you enough for well... Being you guys.
  7. Fair nuff but - Noones saying to use them as tanks -and i still imagine if the Germans can strap milans on marders..wouldnt the emergency (oh $hit tank fire the milan) be worth some idiots who ignore what they were taught? Bradleys arent AT but historically those TOWs have saved many bradleys and also that 25mm DU that could KO T72s from the sides. This wasnt abt bashing Brits I genuimely wanted to know about what seems a big oversight. Otherwise why develop expensive APFDS rnds - HE and AP should be fine?
  8. Love the autocannon and IED jammers. No ATGMs???? What gives? What was the reasoning?
  9. See above. Especially sinceI play Redfor alot (airstrikes outta the blue, more WTF moments because of the nature of a javelin attack makes it hard to spot...) but even if you ascribe to the travel light idea youre doing yourself an incredible disservice for ANY battle in ANY cm if you dont see whats in your apcs and trucks. Examples : often theres an extra schreck and rounds or zook and rounds. You may as well add that to an infantry squad that doesnt have one or some hq if you want. The German STG44 rounds. Not a lot floating around and youd really better grab any extras whilst you can - especially if youre using a STURM bttn thats. Solely equipped with them. In more modern titles theres lotsa rp7hs floating around and almost always a few squads wont have organic AT. Why would you not? Also many times way better quality one shot rpgs (like the 29) are sitting there and honestly are better to stock up on for a AT team with RedFor than just an rpg7. Same with javs for the US - try to plan ahead with this - that javelin launcher CLU is one of the best spotting devices around in game or IRL Same with alot of reg inf in SF. They may have 1 LAW or 2. Why not load them with (all they can carry like me) or at least an extra LAW or two? Those things go fast in heavy infantry firefights and more than once Ive seen them decisively tip a firefight - just as Ive seen an RPG do the same against soldiers just fighting back with 5.56..
  10. I usually acquire a full load of extra missiles for a javelin team and they can still easily move quick? Not sure about that, though the second launcher definitely would be an issue. This is part of why I miss the flexibility of LAWs - I wish we could choose between at4s and LAWs. Regardless I dont take any chances with apcs brewing up etc, and in my experience when those AT teams need zook or missile rounds they need them most that first engagement - everything else youre frankly lucky - therefore I load all my fellas up across the board at the start - but I try to distrivute the 5.56, 7.62 etc appropriately and equally, same with 40mm grenades etc
  11. +1 vet watch Generation Kill most of my friends who saw it and were in Iraq says its pretty accurate. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I remember reading the articles as the guy dispatched them during and after the war. Heady stuff, those guys had a couple of really lucky engagements where their toughness, luck, etc brought them through. Especially that river ambush in Nasiriya and the assault on the airfield that turned out to be abandoned. They all thought they were going to be killed - IIRC they were ordered to seize the airfield expecting god knows what but at least armor and heavy resistance basically mounted on HMMVs
  12. CMFI with the Gustav Line module covers the entire period of these battles already and has scenarios set in the battle with driving snow etc. Just saying the thread titles a little misleading.. And the module in question has been out a good couple of years its not exactly news
  13. LOL @ the US line Yeah dude honestly the Ukr is a one of those sides that masochists like. And the ATGM rate may be too high - haiduk and other Ukrainians or Donbass War experts have noted repeatedly that AT-4s fail without even user error like half the time just because theyre so old now..
  14. If your playing as Blue Sgt ans everyone is right - most US/Brit missiles (tow 2b or jav make era irrelevant) and those DU or plain sabot rounds make short work of the rest. For Red for ambushes with tanks and an atgm or two OR have a keyholed tunguska with the tank or a couple atgms - if the tunguska gets thw drop on a bradley or any apc itll shred it and usually they blow off so many era panels, degrade subsystems; often literally stun the tank crew into inactivity long enouugh to get plastered. Also the Khriz shoots its Kornets faster (like a lot faster) than the regular launcher IIRC and whem they volley fire those it seems to annihilate abrams. Add to this they use a ground radar and you can make it really difficult. You place a lateral ambush where a khriz is keyholed to the side of an attack route, with maybe a couple of inf teams or expendable vehicles closer to what you want to ambush. If you have a great bottleneck a TRP is fantastic here too - the most devastating pvp red on blue ambush I ever did was against Nidan1 (RIP) he.d been steamrolling me in our own mini campaign. I had a TRP at 2 bottlenecks, along with one having 2 inf teams that could throw smoke another had a bmp. One was covered by a T90A the other by the Khriz. He ended up where the khriz was. The bmp popped all the smoke it could and I called in a personnel arty strike on the now smoke shrouded TRP and evacuated everyone except the khriz about a km away. The radar can see through the smoke - the Abrams IR and stuff can too as well BUT it caused a lot of chaos -- 1 abram got K Killed - then a Brad. Another Abrams got a partial penetration the crew bailed and the arty killed them at some point. A couple of platoons of GIs got completely wiped out in the 122mm barrage. Best of all I took zero losses. Then a secondary thrust came at the second choke point - this time I lost a saxhorn and the smoke wasnt as effective. The arty killed some americans but the attention the at13 team got (and it KOd a Bradley) caused the US tanks to unload on the building which was to their right - the keyholed tank of mine was to their left. 2 more abrams explode and I reversed the tank and pulled all units to my rear map edge and cease fired ( this would be considered a orderly withdrawal in our campaign) so The prob with Khriz is I wish there were 2 toggles addex to game (atgm only toggle - say for bmp2ms; and a volley fire toggle though admittedly I can see this not being used it.d only apply to maybe the bmp2m and only for sure the Khriz.) So IIRC it was like 15 or 20 Redfor casualties and we lost a BTR for 4 Abrams 2 or 3 Brads and about 50 or 60 US troops. It was easily the most lopsided victory Ive ever had facing cream of the crop US units led by a competent human who had real combat experience.
  15. Probably. Depends what info you want. My father when he flew F4s (mind you this is late 70s) was stationed in Turkey. There are many much more familiar with the Syrian campaign... theres a forum member whose flown and still does AFAIK combat missions over Syria in a F18. What would you like to know? The air support from Turkey isnt modelled in game - youd see probably mostly F16s or F4s and more legacy US aircraft. PM me or just reply on any info you need and Ill try to supply it. Mind Im not an ex service member - my father and his father were though and I was born on a base overseas. So I do have some familiarity with the military beyond my historical interest and otherwise. Incirliks a big deal because we also store nuclear weapons there... If I was you Id download PTs Road to Dinas campaign - Hes IMO one of the top 3 campaign designers for CM ever and Id take his OOBs etc for the Syrians very seriously. For one thatd give you a good template - Road to Dinas is red on red civil war but you can tell he did his research on Syrian military units and if you use his templates (mind you read the backround to make sure you understand the context) you'll have Syrian forces that are more realistically compiled than in many other scenarios. He also tended to not use the flashiest support weapons but rather the ones more often seen. Youd get hinds sometimes but often youd get lesser helos for support (I cant recall if the Hips in the game but ISTR you got stuff like that or low grade 120mm mortars or 122 howitzers mostly if anything. If you got a hind or a Su25 you were doing BIG things. Another factor you could use - I dont see how you could use it unless you had scenarios where Peshmerga allied with NATO and you set the battle as technically red on red - but somehow say give the combatants and irregular fighters good support ( to simulate nato helping, since theyre read you just have to pretend its Poland or some old Eastern Bloc country doing air support for the Peshmerga - Maybe the US prefers to cover its own troops first, then Brits etc and each nation wants to support its own troops. Perhaps Poland due to recent Russian aggression reluctantly sent only a few aviation assets. Then you could have regular NATO battles but also have some peshmerga who the turks and syrians dont like (which you could also do an interesting campaign branch. There have been campaigns that let you choose your path - if you surrender right away it goes one way if you march unopposed to an objective you go another way. Its a way of making semi dynamic campaigns. So for an occasional change of pace you could put the player in control of Peshmerga - and then give them a choice, do they do what the Turks are urging them to do (is it a suicide mission? It could be, theres no love lost) or maybe you decide you,d rather assault something else and risk displeasing the Turks, in which case you could have a couple of interesting scenarios where Turks and Peshmerga fight before NATO tells the Turks to back off. Just tossing ideas around.
  16. Of course youre right. However since I never evem tinkered with it and Dinas is so large..plus the way I understand AI plans is basically like givi g your side blind orders for the whole battle. It has to be tinkered just right or itll look stupid. And papertiger is a genius I cant do that to his campaign. Oh and i dont have SF2 full game and Im still on 3.0 for all the others. Whoops P.s. thanks tho sgt. And how are u today? Merry xmas
  17. God and thats such a monster size campaign Im not volunteering to learn how to do ai plans and implement them on the 15+ battles in that campaign.
  18. Instead of Turkey AB call it Incirlik. Thats the main NATO AFB Im familiar with hearing about in Turkey. Also theres probably a higher chance that Marine Harriers would come from say the USS Tarawa and USAF support would be more likely to come from Turkey. Very small issue though - but for immersion Id remove the "turkey ab" from the map and in briefing just mention a marine squadron based at Incirlik is diverting a harrier from a strike mission to help or the plane(s) are allocated to help your attack
  19. Is there any easy way anyone could try to port @Paper Tigers excellent Road to Dinas? Its a Syrian civil war campaign that pioneered the CMx2 campaign branching style where it really felt like your actions really did influence the greater picture somewhat. Also it was exceptionally well made. It lacks a lot of stuff that came to define the real civil war (IIRC its much more like syrian military vs other syrian military) but if it was ported Im sure it could be tweaked with some interesting additions. I think it.d be interesting if someone modded Iranian RGC troops in for say Syrian special forces. Instead of ever having spec ops you could set them at average skill and morale and have Iranian volunteers. Also waiting for an ISIL campaign. This would be interesting as blue on red but i think has a lot of promise of red on red. You get some syrian troops with heavy equipment low exp and morale and a bunch of ieds (does sf2 have vbieds?) And fanatical combatants.
  20. I have to say I have read multiple accounts ( dont doubt other crews perhaps did this but I only specifically remember reading about Pz crews doing this. Im almost certain Otto Carius mentions it in Tigers in the Mud more than once.
  21. +1 my father was had a friend - Bodo - who was an enlisted Bundeswehr. He told my father many of the MGs and also Walther P38s had ground off Swazi marks and there were a few floating around (in the 80s) that had some they missed.
  22. Yeah if this is the case where they led the suspected bombmaker out of the wire executed him and buried him sorry thats a war crime. I remember around 9/11there was zero sympathy for terrorists and everyone was for torture, anything really. It was tempting to agree- but Im glad many remembered that such actions only blur the line between the terrorists and 'us'; and only strengthen their cause. After all OBL stated in the early 90s he wanted a US invasion of a mid east nation - itd be a rallying point andhe probably thought they could end the US ( the mujahideen vets of Afghanistan then credited themselves for the SU demise)
  23. Likewise thats why i posted that above. I really do usually like most of your posts
