  1. What bugs me is the Omaha Beach scene. From what I have heard, it took them hours to get off the beach. In SPR, those guys are the first wave and it takes them only 10 minutes to clear the whole thing. I wouldn't have minded if it showed "time passing" like in the movie "The Big Red One" In the Big Red, time was shown as passing by repeatedly showing a dead man's watch having the hours go by
  2. Okay finally I have finished it, if anyone else wants to test it post here. I will send it to you two when I have finished the briefings.
  3. I will finish it tomorrow morning. Need to do the German setup defenses and the briefings. I will mail it to you both. Be warned, it is a very big scenario with more than a battalion on each side, although not at once luckily. The map isnt VERY big, its about a kilometer by a kilometer, maybe more.
  4. Bringing a Panzer to a medieval field battle would be pretty amusing. They are hacking at your armor with swords while you machine-gun and shell and crush those pesky knights. A castle siege wouldn't last very long if the attackers had a Stuh42
  5. The fact still stands. Whether you have an infantry screen or not, the 50 cal is WAY too good at nailing light vehicles. They are close to useless now in QB's if the Americans have some 50 cals.
  6. I think they are way too effective. If this is how it was in WWII, I don't think Germans would even use halftracks or armored cars. Makes them almost useless to buy in QB's b/c if your opponent has a 50.cal, it seems more dangerous than an AT gun to lighter vehicles. I had a 50. cal take out a whole platoon of halftracks in less than a minute. They were all veteran, carrying PzGren platoon, and all Moving Fast in a diagnol direction compared to the .50 cal, at over 300 meters. The 50 cal was only regular.
  7. I was doing a canned PBEM and had crews save me. I had a town being held by a platoon under attack from an Ami company wiht support. I had about 8 different crews in the town (bunker, Flak, 75mm Pak, 50mm, Pupchen, Halftrack etc.) I added them to the defense and it really did help me hold off the Amis, even if all some did was look to be "Infantry?" and thus get shelled, saving my real troops from it. One crew actually got over 16 kills.
  8. If they could only put a small timezone in there, I would like it go from fall 1942 to summer 1943. That way we can get Stalingrad, Kursk, Kharkov etc. If it only modeled the "Barbarossa" part that wouldn't be that great. First few months the Germans slaughtered everything.
  9. I was playing as the French and they all started getting up and cheering when they saw a platoon of Hotchkiss tanks moving down the road....
  10. Send it to me Hey Gila, when we're done with the Rangers, wanna have a go at it?
  11. This is a city battle called "Block for Block" It's a city with a big river through it. It also includes outlying farmland and such. Allies Attack/Germans Defend Allies start out with French resistance harassing the Germans in the city, and a company of engineers to clear the mines on the roads to the city. Eventually more Allied reinforcements stream in. Germans start out with a lot of troops scattered around the city, and some heavy weapons on the outside. The Germans have several strongpoints, but the rest of the city is mainly being defended by small units of snipers and mobile teams. Objectives include: City Hall, Garrison Barracks, French Volunteers Barracks, Governor's Mansion, Motor Pool, Crossroads, Rail Yard, and Monastery. German units include an elite FJ unit guarding key locations, some motorized units to act as mobile reserves, some conscript French units (Volk troops) and Security units. Heavier units come in as reinforcements later to counterattack or assist in the defense. Germans also have many fortifications, such as wire and minefields. Snipers and MG's lurk throughout the city. This is a huge battle. It will be ready sometime tomorrow Does anyone want to playtest it?
  12. How do you make sure there are no enemy troops about? Well, as Patton said "Drive that jeep up that road, and when you get blown up, report back to me" It's a tough job, but send something weak up ahead of your platoon. When they get shot, you know contact is imminent. Send a half squad or out of ammo troops or an out of ammo bazooka or whatever, you get the idea. I did a PBEM against a guy who found all my positions by buying a bunch of jeeps and sent them flying at me so all my guys started shooting at them. That's how you find the enemy.... I just did this really funny thing with POW's I was playing a Quick Battle, Germans Attack, (I was being Germans) and I had about 12 Americans as prisoners. Well I sent them all in unison at the same randomly chosen clear spot on the map. Turns out it was a minefield!!! I just looked one turn and see all these dead bodies laying there. I was thinking "Now THAT is bad luck"
  13. yeah okay I was being dumb, I didn't even try that. I thought it was the Landmark tool
  14. I was just wondering how do you place the flags in scenario editor. I have said to put 1 flag on, and it is just placed on a spot on the map that I don't like. Any way to move it?
  15. CM is much better against the AI. I find it lots of fun to play CC head to head just because we can get down to playing. PBEM is okay but I kind of want to sit down and "play" if you know what I mean
  16. I'm in the middle of several PBEM's and have finished one. Elsdorf---My reinforcements got shot up right when they got there (Ouch) Relieving the Rangers-finding it very tough to attack dug-in veteran troops with unsupported green troops. My reinforcements keep entering in bad spots, like in front of my opponents Shermans. Quick Battle 1: Playing against a guy who's VERY good, so he says, and he's proving it to me. He told me to give myself and advantage, so I chose high quality troops, not knowing that they costed more until I got to pick my forces. Got a lucky shot on the pillbox that was the centerpiece of my defense and then smoked me up more than LA and is in house to house fighting. I put tons of stuff on my flanks, hoping he would try to flank me, and he heads towards the center... Doesn't look good. Quick Battle2: Company vs Company in a village. We have obliterated each other, but it looks downhill for me now since I lost my Panther but he still has his Sherman. Quick Battle3: Company sized meeting engagment on a strange map. (Small, Town, Large hills. It is a town in the middle of a LONG but not wide map, and the hill is VERY steep.) Just a big collision. I am winning now because a very lucky Volksgrenadier chucked a potato masher into a building occupied by an American platoon and a half of another, setting it on fire. They are now all dead or sreaming for their mommies. Maybe I can win this one....
  17. I will play you. I like playing the boxed scenarios more than QB's and all. But I suck... email me if u wanna play ICQ 63878109
  18. But, going back in time to do that with those modern weapons would wipe out the 3rd Reich so quickly that they wouldn't have time to develop some of the superweapons of their own that LED to the development of the weapons we would be using on them. Thus, a paradox...
  19. CC4 is good if you can get one of the superb mods that people have made. You can just pop a message on the clubssi.com forums and people will show you a pile of mods. The game is pretty good head-to-head, more like CC2 than CC3, with multiple kampfgruppen, designated air supply, and all that fun stuff.
