  1. Karate Champ!!! Man I loved that game. About a month ago I was at a pizza place with my parents, where they had an old Centipede game. My mom got all excited and asked me if I wanted to play her in a game. She refuses to go anywhere near computers, and she doesn't have an interest in video games. I had never played before, but she said she had when she was a kid. I should have known what that meant. It meant she spent every waking moment as a child behind that machine. And anyone who's played it before knows that it takes skill, especially if you aren't accustomed to using a trackball. She kicked my ass for about thirty minutes until my Dad stopped giving her quarters. Whenever you go to an arcade and see some adult that doesn't look like they belong there playing Galaga or Pacman in the corner, run away screaming. They're better gamers then you'll ever be.
  2. This is an English version of this site here. http://klad.hobby.ru/english.htm Here is an excerpt about what they do: "The aim of creation and activity of the Society are the exploration and rescue from destruction of the items which possess historical, cultural, art or high material value." Of course, the military archaeology part of their site appears to be Russian only, but it sounds like it might be real. There's also some pictures on there somewhere of some rusted Maxim MG's.
  3. What about the problem of abandoned vehicle crews rushing towards the nearest foxhole, forcing anyone who was already there to move out to open ground?
  4. If you click on the CO and hit enter, near the top it tells you all the command bonuses that the particular unit has.
  5. *Spoiler* - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This same thing happened to me in Balkovzy Suprise (sp.?), I hid the infantry in the trees and buildings, and everyone stayed hidden except for the HQ, who was targeted and killed by 5 tanks. I swear I heard one of the rifle squads mutter, "That's what he gets."
  6. Speaking of explosions, does anyone have a working link where I can get the Hollywood Explosions mod? I tried Tom's CMHQ and The Proving Grounds without success.
  7. Nippy we must have played the same battle, except the flamethrower took out my KV-1, and I never saw the Pioneer squads that got me... I played a QB last night in heavy forests, I used the hunt command to sneak a Valentine up to some woods I had my infantry hiding in, when all of a sudden the infantry spots a Panzer that's moving away from the patch of woods. Then the Panzer starts reversing back to the woods, my Valentine gets a rear hit on it from 10m away, and the infantry throws at least 8 molotov cocktails, in less than 5 seconds. All of this without the Panzer spotting any of the units. Suprise! ...and human waving hordes of Russians at a lone pillbox MG...suicidal, but what a sight! -reformatted to fit your tv screen. 8. I like hearing about all the strange things that have happened to people in this game, it's what keeps it interesting. In a QB once I had a few conscript squads stumble upon an AT gun in a blizzard, they annihilated the gun in 2 seconds and then promptly routed, with no casualties. I did a ceasefire to see what happened, only to find that there were no other enemies around. My guys ran from their own gunfire... I've started a few fires, mainly with AP rounds in tanks, but I've never seen them spread. Other than the occasional friendly targeting, I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. Anyone else seen anything?
  9. ...and off map artillery (correct me if it's already there in CMBB).
  10. I would also really like to know how much damage artillery brought in from my FO's caused.
  11. If you're talking about how well they can run the new CM, I can tell you mine doesn't do a good enough job. So far I've only played the demo, but all the new textures and stuff make it laggy when I move around the map. This is from running it with the lowest resolution possible. After I've given orders to my men, and the computer AI gets done thinking, it takes forever to load the action. Normally I'll go watch tv for a few minutes and then come back to see what happened. I'm not exactly sure what causes this, maybe it has to do with the new AI or something? I'm running on a P3 500 mhz with an ATI video card and 256 mb ram, I'm guessing it's the processor giving me problems. Because of the long load times and the laggy play, CMBB is not worth it for me to buy until I can get an upgrade. Which hopefully will be soon.
  12. I have the demo, and I was listening to all the .wav files, and deleted 00000330. Now when a tank gets blown up it doesn't make any noise, and I don't want to download the demo again just to get the file back. So could someone with the demo copy and send me this file so I can put it back in? Send it to silentsniper1@hotmail.com thanks.
