  1. I have played CM since the Riesberg beta. After 10 pbem of CMSF I can say that is the best wargame experience I had till now. Also, the usual criticism against modern syria setting is, that the forces are not balanced. But for me, I feel, it gives more possibilities to play a satisfactory game between unequal opponents. With blue also a noob can give some grog a challenge. WW2 will all be nice, but modern is more interesting for me because it's new and more to discover.
  2. Just got my latest turn of this match today. My opponent lost ca. 2 Platoons+ and a Stryker in my best staged UnCon Urban assault till now: ...this is uncon media war, section achad/B6... ...go ahead - but know that we will make all of your failures public! this is uncon media war!... to battlefront: we want mobile T-54B, T-55 (1970) + T-54B vbied! deliver in next patch or we will continue to post pictures of dead us troops from your games! all heil the Resistance! achad/B6 Yes I'm well. I just love modern war gaming.
  3. Sorry, my mistake. I mean the scenario "Rescue". It is not British Forces, but U.S.Army SBCT against UnCons. I had not started this, but got send it from my opponent. I also have it in my normal scenario folder, but I am not shure if it comes with the base game or if I have downloaded it somewhere.
  4. Then it will be broken beyond recognition, because we can not simulate the early Achen, Stolberg Corridor, Hürtgenwald battles in late September (at the time when Marked Garden was still running). CMx2:Bulge should start latest September 13, 1944.
  5. Each bridge should have its frequency of mechanical oscillation simulated. And there should be a new infantry move order: "Stechschritt".
  6. What happens, when I try to move a vehicle over a bridge not allowed for? Or I have a big map divided with a river running through and say 5 different bridges. I have a mech battalion on one side and give just a combined hunt order to the other edge of the map to all my forces at once?
  7. A squad on each side of the road, not a whole platoon of course.
  8. Short review of my PBEMs so far: H2H British Armour Vs Syrian Armour Panzerschlacht at night. Desert plain with little hill chains. UK player will mostly win, if he is carefull and knows what he does because of Über-Challengers. H2H Brit Arm Mix vs. Syr Arm Mix Nice urban map. Better player should take Red. I played Blue and won this quick with Challengers and fast blue arty. But map has potential when played again and both players know what they are up against. H2H Brit Mech Plt Vs UnCon UK player must attack - at night up-hills in high grass. Poor (means boring) designed map. But till now I do good as Red. H2H Brit Recce Vs Syr Recon 'Big Hill-in-the-middle' Battle. BMP-1 vs. Jackals/WMIKs. Good one. Asmar Crossing Very nice designed Red only map with good force tuning. Valley with winding Wadi, Bridge and Farm. Syr Mech/SOF with BMP-1 against UnCons with Recoiless Pickups and a Tank. That one was great. Britain's Joy UK weak reacon force with über air power must free hostages on high ground from UnCons. Means they must get objectives in time, because then hostages spwan. Red get's high score for dead hostages. I think this one plays better with each time when both players know exactly, what to do and what to expect. Friendly Fires! Very nice designed big map. Farm land with villages, wood and high ground. Renegade Arm/Mech syrian 'quisling' forces against ArmInf UK with Challengers. That means practicaly we have an U.S.Army vs. U.K. blue-on-blue. That one I have played as 'Syrians'. After I had killed off the Challengers with a combined M1/mortar/Jevelin-symphony, loosing only 2 Tanks, 2 IVFs and a handfull of pixlings. The remainig Abrams took out the OPFOR IFVs and then my opponent gave up. [*takes off monocle to clean it, takes on monocle again*] Great map, but again I feel for this one both players should know what is on table for max playing fun. Piccadilly Circus Nice little stuffed urban map. That one I lost as told above, but I too think it's great. Again one that should be getting even better with each play. Rescue That is for me till now the absolute kick ass, asked for. Battle is still building up, so I can not say much for security resons. UK ArmInf vs UnCon. Rescue mission for Blue on nice designed big urban map with both stuffed areas and open ground. Great big Mix of the best features of Britain's Joy, Friendly Fires! and Piccadilly Circus. The 2nd Eleven Blue convoy gets ambushed from distant hill high ground. Look good till now, but I will not say more because this is again an on-going operation.
  9. In the end there was some close in fighting inside the gravel pit. But at this time i had pretty much the upper-hand and could move my IVF's in to make short work of the last resistance pockets. The Syrians where giving up and I had a total victory. I lost under 10 men when I remember right and 1 Scimitar to a AT-3 Sagger in the beginning, when I tried to scout at Tanf. The pictures is all what I still have, no save games. I had made them for the screens-shot thread, not as tactical demonstration help, but maybe it helps the newbees a little bit to see spaces between troops.
  10. CMSF:British - The Battle of at Tanf (UK Highland Games Campaign - Mission 2) One company heads for at Tanf, parts of the rest of forces can be seen in background on their way to Obj CYRUS (at Tanf gravel pit). Arty-observer and sniper team was placed in overwatch on the hill at Jabal at Tanf. On the way to at Tanf. (I let one platoon assaulting on each side of the road, third platoon and vehicles over-watch and follow slowly. Assault movement paths consist of many waypoint each just 15 - 20m apart. I try to place them in craters or rough terrain spots. Main force embarks before the Dry Lake Bed (in the area where the point of arrow is on the map). I don't use smoke. I let the gravel pits bomb by Tornado. That luckily took out the tank, they had there. Syrian Reserve defenders. I just advance my squads slowly like described in attack mode with many way points. HQ-mortar, IFVs and Scimitars pick out the Syrians with time. The trench I clean with a short and heavy anti-personal arty attack after I had spotted enough '?'s to be sure where the bulk of his forces was located in trench.
  11. T-54B should be made as for UnCons only. It should be a real gamble to drive the vehicle off-road. There should always be a lurking danger of instantaneous cook-off out off no where. + extra Bonus: special UnCon T-54B VBIED. Model should have gun removed. ...and 'normal' UnCon T-54B should also have his own skins, so that there is the possibility for 'tiny, poor, old' T-54B -mods.
  12. I remember the same. During setup extreme lag, but later nothing. CMSF/USMC/UK v1.20 MS Windows XP Home SP2 Intel Pentium D 2xCPU 2,8GHz 2GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 4870
  13. T-54B, T-55 and T-62 is practically the same tank. T-54B: more or less the soviet WW2 tank of dreams (T-34 brought to perfection with gyro-stabilized 100mm Gun) T-55: NBC-proof T-54B T-62: upgraded T-55 for fitting a 115mm Gun. T-55 (1974) and T-62 (1975) have a new fire control system with laser range finder (!). With them tanks start to get "science-fiction"-stuff (post WW2-technology). The 'worst' mobile tank for Red is T-62 (1972). It 'only' has a gyro-stabilized 115mm Gun. It is basically a 'classic' T-55 with 115mm (but also improved FCS). So it's the only mobile "still almost like WW2" tank in the game. But there is no equal opponent to battle against. And that is the reason I ask for at least a mobile T-55 (1970) - so that we can have 'only gyrostab/no LRF' tank battles.
  14. Is there a mobile version of the T-55 (1970) in the game? If not, is there a chance that we will get it in a patch? Some rusty mobile T-54B for UnCons would also be nice. (improved chance for vehicle/system brake-downs/male-funtions)
  15. REPOST (original post gone because of server maintenance): I had made this tank list. The info is mostly from the CMSF-manuals. Problem is, that all the high-tech stuff is not really explained in detail (like HK and semi-HK abilities in different light) a) in real in cmsf take the challenger2: according to Demian90 it has no thermal imaging. That means it can not well see in bad weather and at night. I made a quick test in cmsf and there challenger 2 can see all over 2000m in night but will he detect targets? I have not made systematic test about all such stuff. ...or the T-55 (1970): There seems only a static version in the game, but if you read the description in the manual carefully, there seems that also mobile version should be in game. Here is the latest version I had made, you can take all what you want:
  16. There where some server problems yesterday and now it's seems all post made after this have vanished over night...
  17. pbem, scenario: "Britain's Joy". Tornado bombardment. before: during: after: Definitely fertilized with Kevlar. Is this legal?
  18. Defence pocket at police station during Dumayr Riots.
  19. You can 'overload' vehicle crews with small arms ammo + vehicle mounted weapons/at. You all have to be careful about what you are doing in pbems. The only way to get them going again is to waste ammo by area targeting in the blue.
  20. Nice. Thank you very much for your efforts.
