  1. Question s'il vous plait Is this a specific patch to add Francais in ++addition++ to the voices we already have, or does it change everything? Where's me gavel? ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86 [This message has been edited by jdmorse (edited 09-06-2000).]
  2. There also seems to be a recent increase in the smilie frequency w/ new versions being imported, rather than the generic ones the BBS handles ------------------ Where's me gavel? 3. Pritzl Nice work. Actually I really like the snowed on effect, it makes a nice contrast to the winter camos we are seeing on the German vehicles. I'd love to get a copy. Are you releasing them or posting them somewhere? I have a Mac but w/ the MacMod/MCMMM release we can handle straight .bmp's I have kind of wished we had more Allied stuff as it seems so many wnat to customize the German units. Again go for it and if you want to try it out on a mac, let me know. 4. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by M Hofbauer: Wild Bill, opinion is divided / the jury is out on the question whether the CM Borg can assimilate old time veteran CM-followers who have actually been here, and assimilated in a natural, self-assimilating way, way before the Borg entered the CM community erm hive. If anything, it is the old board members and CM devotees who should assimilate the Borg. Just my opinion of course. Any "assimilation" executed by the CM Borg onto old CMers would only have a declaratory, but not constitutive effect. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Actually, My theory is that the Borg is a manifestation of the collective unconciousness of those of us who were around before he started "official" assimulations. We reached a critical mass thus giving him birth. (cue Thus sprach Zarathustra) Thus he is our id manifest in the cyber CM world (scary......just look at the other manifestation.....the Cesspool/Peng thread) ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86 [This message has been edited by jdmorse (edited 09-05-2000).]
  5. (strolling up hill, handing out cards......sitting down, vague resemblance to Spencer Tract/Clarenece Darrow) Howdy people.(thumbs in suspenders) Now I'm just a simple country lawyer, not like some of my esteemed colleges, ya know, "big city" types (twists top of cool No'rwester IPA, wipes brow with bandana) My I see we are having a bit of a get together eh? Quite a nice hill we've got. Hmmm did you get the appropriate permits? Thought not. Enviromental impact statement done? tsk-tsk. Ash, was that flag submitted to the proper sub committee with appropriate hearings held. People, what am I going to do with you? I try and try, do you listen? No. And whats that I heard about gender discrimination? It's no longer boys will be boys you know.(shaking head) Trolls, don't worry (patting trusty briefcase) what I have in here will take care of anythat show. I'll have them so bound up in paperwork and litigation that they don't know what hit them. Circles in circles me boys (evil grin) Right then, have any of you seen my gavel? can't rightly deal with a troll with out it ya know. Seanachi you borrowed it to do Meeks a "one fer" didn't you. Careful my boy, conversion is a nasty charge. ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  6. Guys, the tongue in cheek quality was apparent. We need to lighten up and not just assume that it's a troll. Desides, as Mark IV pointed out another place, if it is a troll, don't respond. Silence is the best way to aloow it to sink, and believe me the Cesspoo; can take care of it's own. ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  7. SPOILER + + + + + + + + + + + + What I really appreciated abouot this sceanrio was the map itself. With some careful inspection a host of alternatives open up. One tactic I found fun was to send infantry and Puma's around the backside thru the woods and down by the river. The need to provide at leaast a screen on that back door can cause a real problem. Also a nice ambush w/ the M10 and MG and 'schreck are possible by staying in the woods by the ford where they first enter. All and all, a wonderful experience, like an onion or a beautiful girl, it gives up it's mysteries slowly, layer by layer ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by kunzler: You cad! You wouldn't. Hmmm, I guess you have pretty much shown that you would. Will begging help? How about threats of a law suit? And I happen to know where I can get a good lawyer.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Hallooooooooooo? Some one call????? ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86

  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by infohawk: IMO, even saying that "BTS sucks" wouldn't be REALLY rude.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The fact that you can say this demonstrates why we will never see eye to eye. It IS just plain rude and insulting. From your profile I figure you are "young" and immature. A bit of an attitude and no real sense of what "manners" are.[don't complain that I am being rude, IMHO "it's not being "REALLY" rude ] Hey, I'm no prude, nor old fogey, but sir, perhaps the standards you hold yourself are not that of an adult. After all you seem to think everything is relative ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86 [This message has been edited by jdmorse (edited 08-31-2000).]
  11. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by infohawk: I agree with much of the original post. It seems like any potentially constructive criticism about CM is met with angry, mean-spirited attacks.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I do not see any here. Some exasperation, but I hear people still trying to explain in a reasonable way. In a community of this size, some will be hotter headed than others. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>I also think the posts and bulletin board actions by BTS have been disappointing (see thread in General [Why are discussions closed?])<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> You didn't explain, but for what I see, closure happens ONLY when the thread is way off topic or degenerating or has "beat that dead horse" Again. Look at the Peng thread, It was invaded by a person who was trying to bait and get the thread locked up. Silliness and reason prevailed and it was not locked up. BTS doesn't lock it up arbitraily. Everytime has a good supportable reason consistent w/ their standards <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>The example of half-life is good. Businesses should always be curteous (and kiss ass) to their customers, regardless (except in extreme cases) of how rude people are.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I cannot understand how you can say this. As we speak Charles and I have been corresponding over a problem I have in using indirect fire. It may turn out that I am simply being stupid, but the developer/publisher is talking to me direct. Several posts as well as several emails. He is taking time to help one(1)! customer figure out something that is confusing him. And I know my case is not an isolated one. How many times does Steve or Charles chime in on this forum w/in hours of a post. I do not see that happening with other games. The service and respect is phenonemal. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>One thing I disagree with (if I'm understanding the above post correctly) is about patches. I think frequently coming out with patches is great, even if the orignial product was buggy. I would rather be playing CM v 1.0 than no CM at all. BTW, I didn't even notice the bugs.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The so called "patches" are really a misnomer. They do not fix a mistake, rather enhancements is a better words. Others have made this observations before. Heck the beta demo was "stable" and as far as I remember, virtually bug free. BTS didn't release the game until it was ready (and we were in a froth ; refreshing monkeys and all!!!) They solicited opinions of this forum to release w/out the TCP/IP, and bowed to the collective desire, they have included things (see dead bodies threads) that they didn't think was needed, but the community asked for. They have enhanced (smoke and explosions) not patched. ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86 [This message has been edited by jdmorse (edited 08-31-2000).]
  12. Jsoh, Get the Game! The manual is very helpful, but more important there are several tutorial scenarios that walk you htrough things. Enjoy ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  13. Plu-eze......Yeah I read a book about the Nazi use of Antartica, and they developed flying saucers, and have a base on the far side of the moon.....I am NOT making theis up, read it,yes I did......of course the book was Science Fiction........This SO off topic , not funny, go start a thread at the National Enquirer Chat Room. My advice to all who come here, let this die, too much silly puffery, that somehow people take seriously. Silly rnats and taunts belong on the MuthaBeautifulthread (aka Peng thread where we acknowledge our collective loose screws and various rodentia ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  14. You can send it to MadMatt at CMHQ(he has a particular fondness for the Hetzer) as a 3rd party mod texture. There's a section for protocols for submission at the site. ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  15. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Lee: Bah, only this forum, the one with the lineage, counts for post numbers. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Lineage sir has been proven both historically and factually. I warn you I am prepared to file a paternity suit if you persist in this line. All threads share common descent.Unless you wish to foist upon this forum some Lysenkoian mind prattle. By your reasoning sir we would have to remove from the total the aggregate sum of posts at the time of the split, plus the "lost threads" from the "Night of the Refreshing Monkeys" from the current thread total. ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  16. NOT SO FAST me Bucko, Remember that CM comprises 4 subgroups, they were split out of an organic single entity and remain a part of each other. I count 106,453 posts, ya all missed it, badly. I warned you all before. See 8-14-00 http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/008984.html Alternatively, you can not count the Muthathreadofallthreads, to (t)wit, the Peng thread because it exists in a different reality. Under that view there is still 1121 to go! And the 21st century is next Jan 1st as well ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86 [This message has been edited by jdmorse (edited 08-29-2000).]
  17. No, clear daylight. Even tested it with no obtructions, 500m max indirect.
  18. Welcome back Ed, you were missed.......ah, who did you say you were again ------------------ "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- King Henry VI, Part II, Act 4, sc.2, l.86
  19. Repost from main forum...since no one answered yet Is there a limiting distance (short of maximum range) on indirect mortar fire even when spotter has LOS to target? I am playing a QB under 1.03. 60mm mortars listed as having maximum range 1000m+. Forsome reason all 60mm and 81mm mortars in the game on my side do not get target lock beyond 500m for indirect spottin (yes units are in C&C and spotting unit has LOS [blue line]) Beyond 500m the line turns (red?) and wording in yellow that it's "Out of Range) Yet if unit has diect LOS then it can easily fire beyond 500m. Normally, a orange line will show indirect target lock from firing unit. It does this out to 500m, beyond the acquistion line won't stick. Initially thought that maybe unit info on 60mm mortars was wrong, but 81mm's I know had adequate range, yet as mentioned direct fire won't affect this Any thoughts? As prob. the "1 person" I got a chance to "beta" test the CM MacMod maker. It's freakin cool. As aikidorat mentioned, very elegant. Simple to use. I pretty much DL'd the entire set of stuff from CMHQ. Winter mods, AFV and Infantry, New village and church building mods, (two!)New Tiger looks, all mine, all installed and running on my Mac Bwahahaha....oh yes where was I. Hats off to bsoplinger and aikidorat for supporting the Mac community. 22. Mac DV SE OS 9.0 (ATI Rage 128) running CM 1.03 (for some pbem's) Yesterday I was playing around w/ installing some mods..after was all said and done, when I played the game again there seems to be something weird about the explosions from artillery in the highly quality mode. The black smoke explosions, at least from the largr explosions are not rounded black puff balls, rather they are more akin to large diffuse black pyramids and have sort of a prism diffracton colors mixed in. I reloaded the orginal Data file and they are still there. Prior to this there hadn't been a problem or any noticble issue. Smoke and burning AFV's seem fine, same for burning wood/field tiles. So I wonder if something happened to drivers (and what would I do or is it something else
  23. bsoplinger: I'd say yes and yes Dave Rat aikidorat@home.com has also been working on this idea. Give him an email jingle and maybe the two of you can connect and have it put together to relieve our collective Mac envy..
