If CMBB is really being released soon...
Bakker@home replied to AnonymousOxide's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Have some faith guys. Kwazy is working hard to model/texture as much as he can on his quality level en we are like little kids banging on his door 'Show us ! Show us !'. Then when he does we gripe and moan (remember the t-34/85 shot?) and request more screenshots the next day. And maybe when CM:BB comes out we will whine and moan with 'why is the pz-35(t) not in ?' and they will answer 'Because we were busy making screenshots for you guys' End of rant. No offence ment but i was trying to use sarcasm as a tool to paint a picture of the 'gimme gimme' proces. Oh well i tried Try to bottle your hunger for CM:BB goodness guys. Ask yourself this question, do you want to see/hear bits and pieces of it now or just install it one day and let it hit you with all this new cool stuff they didn't tell us about in one mighty blow. I, for one, prefer the last. Grtz, S. -

Memories of your first CM game (VoT/CE/LD/Reis)
Bakker@home replied to CMsoldier's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I remember I was getting bored at work one day (waiting for a BIG build to finish) and stroled around some old links. One was a forum about tanks and someone mentioned a new game coming out soon and posted a link. There I was on some 'old' site (sorry BTS) and found a beta demo. Downloaded it and started it up. Fought the controls for awhile, stuck in one viewmode scrolling the map and wondered about the crude graphics. Then the build finished, finished work and went home. Three days later I remembered the demo, put it on a zip an took it home. Installed it, read the readme (or whatever) played it went 'ooh' 'i get it''cool' etc. I thought it was smart to race my armor and tracks right into town and unload there to take it by storm. One sad slaughter commensed and i quickly quit the game in shame. Restarted, much more carefull now. Infantry leading with armor following behind for suppression fire. Then all hell broke loose. Cursed as halftracks got nocked out by some explosions from nowhere and strongly remember zigzagging them like crazy along a woodline. Then when i thought i won ... the great surprise .... my wonderfull invunerable ubertiger knocked out by a lousy yank tank from hell ! Restarted, played as the americans. ect. I think I played last defence for about 10 times that night and fell asleep dreaming about mega-tank battles. And when the riesberg and chance encounter came I was hooked and pre-ordered Alas, and the rest is history. Although the magic is gone I still play it now and then. I can safely say it's the only game I still play reguraly after two years. Grtz, Sbakker PS: excuse my rusty english ....... -

Congrats Moon ! Glad to see another fine addition to an already talented packed and competent team. Way to go BTS. Now it's up to us to order enough copies of CMBB to pay all those star salaries ......... Cheers, Stefan. PS: would 'whining' about features now degenerate to 'howling at the moon' ? [ 01-28-2002: Message edited by: Bakker@home ]</p> -

Gentlemen, to my knowledge there was going to be a Leopard recon tank based on the PzkwII chassis with a 50l/60 gun. It never saw production. See; achtung panzer website (leopard) Greetings, S Bakker.

Who has the smallest member number?
Bakker@home replied to Jarmo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Oh no, a 'my number is lower than yours' thread. What is the world cominig too? -
And so it came to pass that from the former kingdom of CMHQ a prince came forth and he declared "Gone are the times of glory since our current place of worship has become dusty and too confined for it's holy task. Therefore we will build a new kingdom of CM-ness on that hill yonder, so that the word of BTS may again be spoken in a glorious new temple build in it's honor. " And many vassals flocked to his banner and pledged allegiance to him. Thus the new era of CMHQ began. (historical note; research indicates that the 'prince' was actually a brutish bald bouncer who enslaved wannabees without social lives in working for free on his monopolistic empire)
