1. Oh goodness no, i'm no 'real' modder i was just messing around a bit. Grtz S Bakker
2. Well, can't help you with the truck but i've been messing around with the sherman. It's the official 'HeeHaa ! Ultra - Whopping Non-official sherman field kit'. Since sandbags didn't do any good the amis deciced to give the sherman an impressive paintjob to inspire troops and scare the krauts and all that. Yep. Impressive flame patterns on the track guards, a 'we don't break for krauts' sign on the back and all that. You name it it's there. I couldn't model the beerholders though. :-D Might be funny to see but alas i cannot post pics on the web, i've mailed CASCA the pics. Anyway it sports the official 'Bite Me!' (trade mark) logo and i don't want to be sued by the mighty Madmattian Sindicate for using their slogan without permission. GrtZ, stefan (any more takers ?)
3. Now all they will have to do is bring out a sherman that actually burns ......... Cute little thingies, don't tell me you have to assemble them yourselves ? (he i'm lazy !) Greetings, stefan
4. HI guys, i'll be happy to help however my reaction time will be measured in days. Greetings stefan. (stefan.bakker@wanadoo.nl)
5. Well, i'm playing Stoumont as the germans right now ....... and although i have taken Stoumont i'm really short on infantry now. In the first two battles my platoons were hit hard by all those amis MG's. So i guess the AI had the same prob against you. WHy didn't you counter attack ? Take back the initiative ! Greetings, stefan.
6. Appreciating the help that i got i would be willing to lend a hand. So send me one or two and i will set my teeth in them. Greetings, stefan.
7. Thanks to the helping hands of the volunteers above the newest and latest version of 'Polder bridge', version 1.1, has just been submitted to CMHQ's scenario depot. I liked making the scenario, greatly helped by the constructive feedback, and will start on a new one as soon as i either can find detailed battle reports or have some interesting ideas. Greetings to you all, Stefan bakker.
8. Instead of memorizing those books you could try another approach. Read trhough it and mentally note things as 'hey, this could come in handy in CM'. Then make some scenario's for practicing some though situations; assaulting anti-tanks guns with tanks, defending against infantry with tanks etc. all small scale, only some units in each battle. THen you *test* what tactics work for you and which don't. Ideally you would go from; -Antitank guns; let's storm them with all my tanks ....... oops. -Anti-tank guns; let's crest jockey my tanks until they are surpressed enough to let some of my tanks storm them under cover fire. -Anti-tank guns; let's pop some smoke reverse and find a way around them or wait for arty or infantry. -Hmmm, i would definitly put some anti-tank guns in that woodline over there, let's order my tank platoon to take a detour to avoid it. Or something like that Remember, it's not about 'knowing all rules by heart' but by getting a gut-feeling and routine for standard manouvers (leap frogging, hull down etc.) Greetings, S Bakker
9. Okay, my guess is he sceanrio you are playing is chambois ? Anyway, there are two kind of victory flags big ones are 300 pts and small ones 100 pts. If you open your manual at page 101 it says that units eligible for exiting give 2-3 times their cost in pts, those not exited score points for the enemy. RTFM ! Greetings, S. Bakker [This message has been edited by Bakker@home (edited 12-22-2000).]
10. Well thanks guys, it's on your way and i'm anxious to hear your opinions. Greetings, stefan. PS: tsss, three lines and two typos ......... [This message has been edited by Bakker@home (edited 12-21-2000).]
11. Ahum, well it depends on what you generally use your computer for really. CM would benefit more from processor power than an new video card, but a new video card is a big win for other games like First Person Shooters. So what are you craving for; faster turn calculations are higher resolutions ? But more importantly the CPU and the Video card you have now are still decent enough at the moment in my opinion. I would advice you to buy some more ram (at least 64mb more) and try some ways to tweak your system (newest drives, bios settings or overclocking) and save your money for half a year and then take an upgrade you will really notice. Greetings, stefan. PS: he Dschugaschwili what's your duron running at ? 850? [This message has been edited by Bakker@home (edited 12-21-2000).]
12. It seems we will once again see the seperation in the two 'camps' we saw before CMBO came out; the 'grogs' and the 'gamers'. The 'grogs' basically want to see every possible realistic detail incorparated and the the 'gamers' generally want more wizz-bang. I personally think they struck a fine balance in CMBO and will suspect nothing less from them for CMII. Just think about the size of the task they are undertaking .... russia, five years of war, tons of different weapons to model. The scope of CMBO pales in comparison. So let's tone down on 'i want this!' or 'is this in?' questions and practice our patience. They already know what we want and they alone can figure out what's best to put in. They started this russian thing and i am not sure if they know what they are getting into too. The sheer vastness of wars in russia has already claimed many a famous name ... End of ramble Greetings S. Bakker. [This message has been edited by Bakker@home (edited 12-20-2000).]
13. Greetings guys, yesterday i made my first scenario ever. It is a fictional scenario where a canadian force tries to seize a dutch bridge in some featureless dutch polder landscape. Small map and reinforced company sized attack force. I wonder if some of you guys could take a look at it and give me some feedback? Thnx in advance. I enjoyed making the scenario and i am planning to further create; -a scenario featuring the german counterattack against the 1st polish armored division in Hulst. -a operation featuring the capture of putte, hogerheide and woensdrecht by the 2nd canadian infantry division during the Antwerp campaign. SO take a look at the 'Polder bridge' in the CMHQ scenario depot and tell me if i should even bother . Grtz S Bakker PS: any sources of maps of NW-belgium/SW-netherlands will be greatly appreciated.
14. Well i hope they are not gonna boast about the amount of 'realism' they brought in the game. The guys from Sudden Strike certainly quickly learned to avoid that word. Grtz S Bakker
15. Under pressure from their loyal fanbase BTS has licensed the development of 'CM 4; war in the sand' to an experienced third party wargame developer. The first screen shot just leeked out; Actually this a pic for a game in development called 'World War II: Europe in Gunfire'and is an RTS game aka Sudden Strike. Are we experiencing a revival of WWII as a game setting for RTS and FPS games ?
16.
quote:
CM2 has got to have Molotovs, it's just got to!

Molotov's, magnetic mines and satchel charges are all close-quarters anti-tank weapons and thus modeled by the satchel charge already in CM. I don't see why they should model these seperate weapon types seperadly (for the graphics?) since they have the same method of delivery and effect. I'm more anxious to see anti-tank rifles like that Impressive Finnish L-39 modelled in CM2. Good link! Whacking Pzkw II's and Pzkw III's with AT-rifles should be fun. Grtz S Bakker
17. Ah i see, well mister this is excactly the kind of behaviour which causes you lot to be the social outcasts you have become. You could have been Fionn-like experts on armour already but no! You rather sniffle and paw each other in unproper ways here in this daft pool. Well, just think about that while i unclog my nose in your general direction you son of a windowcleaning person. There. Oh and no offense taken mister insane dai. Grtz S Bakker PS:
18. Thanks guys. As for the rating system, yes i am afraid it is based on gut feeling right now. I started to set up some scaling but you end up describing how you 'measure' a gut feeling. 19. Hi guys, i've started a serious attempt to give NON-SPOILER reviews of home-made scenario's. My first efforts are up on my Bunker website. Maybe some of you could wonder over and give me some feedback on them ? It would be very much appreciated. Greetings, Stefan Bakker ------------------ Visit my CM site! 20. First dude says; What i meant was that only the trees are represented as 'flat sprites' in the game. All other objects (houses, tanks, troops etc) are 3-D models with 'BMP's wrapped around them' if you get my drift. And yes you should know what you are doing when editing BMP's. Get over to http://combathq.thegamers.net/whatsnew.html to see some great new winter textures. Oh and ....... dduhh !! Grtz S Bakker
21. Hmmm, this reminds me of a really absurd idea i had a long time ago .... when you offered to do some POTD's for my Bunker website remember? Why not make a texture pack / funny scenario combo. Where your and some other famous faces (steve, charles, beta-testers?) give their appeareance together with some nutty textures (like BITE ME painted on an jagdtigers side) in a goofy tank battle. And you can stage it on the DAM MAP of course.... Maybe we should even consider putting in the kitchen sink. You can call it the Gargantic Guru's & Grumbling Grognards Gunslinging Gigafest or something fitting like that. Oh well, switching back to reality mode. Grtz S Bakker PS: i would really would like to see the 'grinning commander'.BMP downloadable though. It's a classic. ------------------ Visit my CM site! 22.
quote:
Flash! Explosion! BOOM! Fionn is wearing in Soviet 1941 uniform and is running in the middle of the field. He is holding two bottles of Molotov cocktail and just in front of him are Panzer III and Panzer II… (followed by german infantry).

Fionn would probably just put down the molotov's and berate the German infantry about not screening their tanks properly ....... Grtz S Bakker
23. Hi Kije, why don't check out my website as the Lynx has earned its own page over there ? Shameless plug Grtz S Bakker ------------------ Visit my CM site! The bunker: http://bunker.panzershark.com Another proud member of both the Panzershark and the Combat Mission webring.
