  1. Hi guys, how the hell did you guys have time to post on the same day you get CMBB? Anyhow been playing since last night, got punched in the face by yhe AI at jeagermeister .... guess I need to relearn some things in CMBB. Bottom line; CMBB hits holland. Jippy ! PS: alleen die mooie handleiding al is het waard de originele US versie te bestellen niet waar ?
  2. Stumbles in, slaps Stoffel on the back. "Yep, this guy and one unnamed american samitarian snatched all 9 of us out of a terrible tight spot. If it wasn't for them we would be playing ..... the CDV version !" [crowd gasps, moans] PS: just my way of saying; Thanx Stoffel. Thanx mystery guy. 5. Why the rush ? Give them time. It's quality not speed what is important. Ect. Ect. Oh, and I haven't recieved the game yet so I'm in no hurry
  6. Nope. Because how would you back this up? It isn't very measurable ......... No national differences in psychology or troop behaviour in CMBO / CMBB.
  7. Meisser, check the data of the anti-tank guns and of your targets (select units and hit enter). You will notice that the PzkwIII's and IV's frontal armour can resist the 45mm shots pretty well. This is an important fact. As with any anti-tank guns your primary tactics should be; -Creating opportunities for flank and rear shots (see above -Buttoning the enemy tanks (reduces spotting and buys time before effective return fire) -Maximizing fire power (both in numerical advantage and optimal ranges for your AT-guns). So, for example you could take Chad's advice and position all your AT-guns in the woods. Wait for the germans to close in and unhide all of them (maximizing firepower). And as the panzers rotate their fronts to the threat of the AT-guns let the KV's creep up behind them (for rear shots). But there are more roads that lead to Rome. Experiment a bit, it's a good lesson how to beat armor. And consequently teaches you how you should handle armor to minimize the effectiveness fo these tactics (moving by bounds, overwactch ect.). The AT-rfiles are pretty useless in destroying the german tanks. But they are great for making them button up. For example unhide them (together with the mg's)the round before you open up with your AT-guns to button them up (you might want to assign them targets yourself though). This (the buttoning up) lenghtens the time they require to spot your AT-guns so that the AT-guns can fire more shots before the germans can surpress them with effective return fire. Hope this helps.
  8. Bump Still no CMBB reviews? Would be nice if CMBB got a little media coverage .......
  9. Harv, Madmatt, you can kick 'The Bunker' out if you like. I haven't updated it since 18-7-2000 and quite frankly forgot the FTP password. And besides it's bloody awfull since it is/was my first attempt at HTML and webpages. And my english ain't that great either Grtz (edietd bceaues fo tyops [ October 19, 2002, 03:54 AM: Message edited by: Bakker@home ]
  10. Sigh, I took a week off from 7-11 oct. Fully expecting to be able to play CMBB that week. It now seems that the european (non-german) release dat shifts to 10-18 october. Sigh. If I had known that I had asked some of our kind USA brothers if they could order and forward an US copy for me. I wonder if there are still US guys who are willing to do that? Now? For me? I got a Credicard but no experience with money transfers to the US. If there are still some nice US brothers out there whoe aren't tired of playing for post office please mail me. Would be much appreciated. EDIT: already got a response from a fellow country man on a similar quest. Thanx Stoffel [ September 28, 2002, 08:16 AM: Message edited by: Bakker@home ]
  11. I would if I knew how. No resellers i know sell CM:BB, so there's no easy way to order an US copy from Europe. Until I find a way I let my UK order stand. Still hope I can 'patch' the CDV version with the US exec. And then probably donate $10 to BTS for the complete manual. I would prefer paying CDV $10 to be allowed to order the US version and have it done with. Oh well. But I'll live. Even the wait until 7-11 Oct. won't spoil my anticipation for CM:BB. Heck I survived the pre-demo days of CMBO didn't I ? PS: Yech ! Look you guys made me type a Whine post I hate myself now ! 'Pom, pom, pom' (twiddles thumbs and eyes calendar nervously )
  12. Hmmmm .... yes i think they are partisans. Seems to be a whole lot of them, no support weapons ....
  13. I just wanted to say ' thumbs up' to BTS for exceeding my expectations with this wonderfull demo. Thanx ! First imperssions; 1. great graphics and sounds improvement ! Sweet. 2. Extreme FOW ... scary stuff Love it 3. More russians, even more russians, still more russians .. And now I'll have to leave the smilies alone and play the demo some more ...
  14. Great, now all monkeys will refresh feversly from now on .... BTW, I sure hope 'tha plan' works. I need to get my CMBB fix
  15. Firefly, I think you mixed up Leiden with Delft (which is nearby) and are referring to the Army Museum (Koninklijke Nederlandse Leger & Wapen Museum) over there ? [ August 30, 2002, 07:04 AM: Message edited by: Bakker@home ]
  16. Yeah Lindan Thanks , seriously though I hope kgsan is right and most of them made it in. That alone would be quite an accomplishment. Seems like Kwazydog might suffer from ETMD (Extreme Texturing and Modeling Disorder). And you think dressing up models is fun until you realize we're talking tanks and not finnish fashion models .... Who's going to pay his shrink ?
  17. Hi guys, With CMBB in the final stages (demo coming out and all that) I wonder how many vehicles of the (ambitious) vehicle list actually made the game .... Maybe we could pool resources and guestimate from screenshots which ones definitly made it ? From screenshots; T-34 (models ?) SU-85 KV-I (models ?) KV-II Stuart matilda II M-17 half track Pzkw III (models ?) Pzkw IV (models ?) Panther (prob. all models) Stug IIIB Stug III F/G (models ?) Ferdinand SIG33 (=SIG 1B ?) Sdkfz-222E Turan-I Turan-II (w/armor skirt) For the orginal (wish)list see; Vehicle list (model contest) [ August 26, 2002, 11:34 AM: Message edited by: Bakker@home ]
  18. Hi all, I realize I spread some confusion by my spontanious and chaotic post. Let's hope i can remedy this with so many grogs watching my every move . First With the 'Handbook on German military forces' I meant the one written by the U.S. war department and reprinted by the Louisiana state university press. Second About the 100mm guns in the heavy artillery battalion. I clearly misstated that. A quick glance in the 'Handbook on German military forces' (page 148) and Engelmann's 'German Artillery in World War II 1939-1945' (page 124), learnes that it was standard TO&E in the ' Panzer Artillery Regiment'. Thus my statement about early war use of 100mm guns in 150mm how. batteries due to shortage of 150mm how. pieces is clearly false and has no basis. Both sources state the TO&E (roughly) of the Panzer Artillery Regiment gun battalions as; I. armored/SP battalion consisting of 2 light armored how. bateries of 6 105mm how (Wespe) 1 heavy armored how. bateries of 6 15omm how (Hummel) II. howitzer battlion with 2 or 3 light towed how. batteries of 6 105mm how. III. heavy howitzer battalion (mixed) with 2 heavy towed how. batteries of 6 150mm how. 1 towed gun battery of 4 100mm guns And it seems to me that it indeed would be logical to include some long range firepower in the artillery regiment of highly mobile troops such as the Panzer- and PanzerGrenadier Divisions. See Andrea's post. Hope this will help. [ August 12, 2002, 12:50 PM: Message edited by: Bakker@home ]
  19. Or better yet. The 'previewers' did look at operations and were told to keep quiet as to not spoil surprises. As Mikester pointed out operations/campaigns are/were a hotly debated issue, aka a sales opportunity. One can dream ....
  20. A quick reply, as my knowledge on this subject is limited. Two works on this subject which I know are; German Artillery in World War II by Joachim Engelman (Schiffer publishing) And Handbook on german military forces. The first work is mostly a picture book with some details about the guns strewn around the photo comments and some TOE's, tables and nomenclatures. Very unstructured and not very informative. The second work you should know. Little info on artillery organisations (TOE's) but some additional info on fire-control equipment and the performance of the artillery weapons themselves. Some info bursts; -early waryears (polish) still some 75mm batteries (36x 75 and 12x 105) on divisional level. -early war usage of 4x100 mm guns in the 150m how. regiment to supplement shortage of 150 pieces. -mid war standardisation of 36x105 and 12x150 on divisional level, brought back to 24x105 and 12x150 after the 1943 reorganization of the inf. divisions due to dwindling manpower (losses). -appearance of mixed support batteries at the panzer and panzergren. divisions in 1943 consisting of 12x105(sp) and 6x150(sp) mixed with a 105 and 150 towed art. regiment. -appearance in the same timeframe of rocket batteries at divisional level, particullary in SS divisions. -standard army/corps artillery weapons were the 170mm gun and the 210mm how. As for the rocket artillery, to the best of my knowledge these were organized as independent batteries (battalions, regiments) and assigned to divisions. Not massed in divisions like the soviets. Particullary the larger projectors (wurfrahmen, stuka zu fuss) seem to be employed in small groups. -Coastal artillery The germans seem to have used every capable gun as coastal artillery. No matter what the origin or age. The atlantik wall was somewhere called 'a gun museum' or something like that, and that should give a clue. Mostly old german pieces and captured french and russian pieces of all calibres. As a side note: The artillery arms were a little neglected in the early years as the dive-bomber provided all the heavy long range firepower the panzer divisions needed. As air support dwindled the focus shifted to larger calibres artillery, rocket artillery and assault guns for direct fire support. The artillery arms remained plagued by lack of modern pieces (most notable in ranges) and mostly still being horse-drawn. Very fragmented I know, but it's getting late over here. I'm sure people will correct me if I made errors in the above. Grtz, S. EDIT: because I know my english is awfull enough without me making typo's every six words. 21. Oh ... my ... goodness. A loud cheer for Kwazy and the other modders / texturers at work on CMBB. HURRAH ! Anticipation is mildly climbing to alarming levels, lovely graphics and promosing gameplay. And they still keep their secrets ....... S.
