pvt_ryan- For a good book on the viewpoint of the individual German soldaten I advise you to read 'The Forgotten Soldier' by Guy Sajer ISBN 0-304-35240-3 . The book is about the experiences of the author on the Eastern Front from 1942 to 1945, to give a bit of perspective the author is only about 19 years old at the end of the war. ------------------ IN VINO VERITAS

OB&..woops Maximus, I think what stirs some people up is that the only mention in the film of British/Commonwealth/Polish/French is a negative comment made about them, without any reference to the favt that the vast majority of German armour at the time was facing these troops and not the Americans. The actual comments made between the two captains is probably quite understandable and realistic in the context it was made. They would have absolutely no idea of the larger strategic picture and would have the natural inclination that they and there fellow countrymen were being stuck with the greater share of the burden of fighting the war. It annoys some people basically for the reasons mentioned above that alot of people take what they see on TV/Movies/Newspapers etc for gospel. P.S.- Whats a passport? ------------------ IN VINO VERITAS [This message has been edited by Speedy (edited 06-06-2000).]

Germanboy I believe the BBC drama you mentioned is called 'Land and Freedom'. This is a good movie and I recommend it, I especially liked the scene with the dawn attack on the fascist held village.

So how much will repairs cost? Hope it wasn't the porsche you were in. -
You are missing the whole point of the exercise, the point is that while sitting on the dunny you are surrounded by the aroma of combat. It adds immensely to the atmosphere, actually sometimes the atmosphere can get quite thick in there.

I am currently reading a book on market-garden. In it one British airborne vet recalls an incident where he was in a cellar with a group of wounded, several of whom were glowing from various parts of their bodies where they had been hit by WP. If you include the ap affects of wp in CM will the bodies of units killed by it glow in the dark?

The Panther is not invincible, the first time I played this game as Germans the amis had one tank remaining when the panther turned up (76) I moved the panther to a nice hulldown position then on the next turn I fired one shot and missed the sherman then the sherman fired one shot got a front turret hit, penetration = one barbequed panther. This of course was followed by much screaming and abuse from me. ------------------ IN VINO VERITAS [This message has been edited by Speedy (edited 05-30-2000).]
